The Engineers opened up a 17-0 lead at half, Engineers had two fumbles to the Wildcats four interceptions in the first. The 2nd half Newport made some adjustments, and the Engineers came out like the game was over, Newport reeled off 20 straight, the Engineers scored again to take the final lead 24-20, pretty good game overall. Estill should have finished this game off, but Newport surprised me, I thought they would lay down after the first half, but they came out fighting.

Estill - Berryman 30 yd. FG, Davidson 7 yd Run (Berryman Kick), Roberts 1 yd Run (Berryman), Newport - Brown 6 yd. Run (Run Failed), Brown 6 yd Run (McDay pass from Brown), Carter 16 yd Pass from Brown (Kick Failed), Estill - Davidson 1 yd Run (Berryman Kick).


Newport junior quarterback Demetri Brown was 10-of-18 passing for 189 yards and a touchdown as well as being the team leading rusher with 89 yards and two touchdowns in a losing cause.
