UCLA 88 Stanford 77 (PAC 12 Tourney)
#1
LAS VEGAS – UCLA advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament after an 88-77 victory over Stanford on Thursday afternoon.

Junior guard Aaron Holiday tied his career high with 34 points, connecting on 12 of 25 shots. Previously, he had scored 34 points in the Bruins win at USC on Saturday, March 3.

Against Stanford on Thursday, Holiday posted his second consecutive game with at least 30 points (and his fourth such effort of the season), adding eight assists and seven rebounds.

Senior center Thomas Welsh posted his team-leading 17th double-double of the season. He finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, becoming the fifth player in program history to have registered at least 1,000 career rebounds. Welsh now ranks No. 4 on the school's career rebounds list (1,003).

"Aaron, across the board, in everything that he did today was spectacular," said Steve Alford, The Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. "I couldn't be happier for Tom. A thousand rebounds, a thousand points in your career at UCLA – that's special. So, very fortunate and blessed that I get an opportunity to coach two very special players like these two."

UCLA won for the eighth time in its last 11 games and jumped to a 30-17 lead against Stanford with just under eight minutes to play before halftime. Stanford responded with a 15-2 scoring run to tie the game at 32-32. The Bruins ran off eight straight points, securing 40-32 lead with 1:23 to play and led at halftime, 44-40.

Stanford (18-15) pulled to within one points on three occasions in the second half. The Cardinal were unable to take the lead at any point in Thursday's game.

Welsh tied his career high with four three-point field goals, finishing the game 4-for-6 from beyond the three-point arc.

The Bruins also received nine points from Kris Wilkes and eight points each from Prince Ali and Chris Smith.

Stanford's KZ Okpala scored a team-leading 23 points, while Reid Travis logged 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Cardinal.

UCLA totaled 14 assists and committed just seven turnovers in the 11-point win.

The Bruins will face Arizona in the semifinals this Friday evening. Game time at T-Mobile Arena is 6 p.m. (PT). The Bruins' game will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
