Lindsey Wilson responded with a 7-0 run, before Malik Colvin-Seldon grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back to put Cumberlands back in front 8-7. It was a back-an-forth game that saw eight lead changes and three ties, with neither team leading by more than four points, during over the remaining 15 minutes of the first half. Cumberlands largest lead came at the 6:02 mark when Anthony Eaves stole the ball and converted a layup to put UC up 20-17. The Blue Raiders came back and retook the lead on a Pepperben Ofokile field goal with 4:21 left. Lindsey Wilson held the lead until Eric Duncan's three-pointer put the Patriots back in front 30-28 with 46 seconds left. Hannes Erhardt made a field goal to tie the game at 30-30 heading into halftime.

Morton found Colvin-Seldon for a bucket to put UC ahead 32-30 to start the second half. The two teams continued to trade buckets seeing the game tied 32, 34, 36, and 40 points over the first five minutes of the half. Lindsey Wilson took a two-point lead, before Eaves connected with Taylor Gover from long range and Colvin-Seldon on the block to the Patriots ahead 45-42 with 11:55 remaining. An Erhardt free throw cut the lead to two, but the Patriots went on a 16-6 run over the course of eight minutes to take a 61-49 lead with 3:30 remaining. Cumberlands closed out the game going 6-6 from the charity stripe for the 69-44 final.
