AMES, Iowa â Iowa State (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) went wire-to-wire Wednesday night, never trailing in a 93-77 victory over No. 15 West Virginia (16-6, 5-4 Big 12) in Hilton Coliseum.
It was definitely the Cyclones' night. Iowa State shot a season-high 62.1 percent from the field and was masterful in handling the Mountaineers pressing defense. The Cyclones committed just eight turnovers in the game. WVU's previous opponent low was 13.
Donovan Jackson poured in 25 points behind a 6-of-10 effort from beyond the arc, and Lindell Wigginton chipped in with 22 points, his eighth 20-point effort to tie ISU's rookie mark.
Cameron Lard and Solomon Young both had double-doubles. Lard had 18 points (9-12 FG) and 13 boards and Young had 14 points and 10 caroms, making all six of his shots from the floor.
How It Happened
It was a frenetic pace in the first half, as the Cyclones went into the break with a 53-43 advantage. ISU shot 66.7 percent from the field and the Mountaineers made 55.6 percent of their shots.
The Cyclones made 10-of-13 field goals to open the game to forge ahead 25-11. WVU then knotted the score at 29-29 with an 18-4 run. It was the closest the Mountaineers got, as ISU then countered with a 9- 0 run behind five points from Jackson to go up 38-29.
Jackson had 17 first-half points.
ISU maintained its double-digit lead throughout the first eight minutes of the second half, leading 66-54 with 11:57 left in the game thanks to Lard, who opened the second period with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.
A Jackson trey jumpstarted a 9-2 Cyclone run to give the home team an 18-point cushion (88-70) with 3:01 left in the game.

Donovan Jackson scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half to help the Cyclones go into the break with a double-digit lead. It was Jackson's ninth 20-point game of the season. He also dished out a career-high seven assists and was 6-of-10 from 3-point range.
Lindell Wigginton had an outstanding game, tallying 22 points (7-14 FG, 3-5 3FG, 5-7 FT). Handling the majority of the point guard duties with the absence of Nick Weiler-Babb, he did a fantastic job taking care of the ball under constant pressure from the Mountaineers. He committed just two turnovers and had five assists.
