Floyd Central Changes???

Brian Hall is from Floyd County, graduated from McDowell High School so that would be a nice homecoming for him. Question is though, how many more years does he have in him? I would figure he is nearing retirement from teaching and may want to take it easy

He did come back to Floyd County for one season at Betsy Layne, then left after the 07-08 season.

Jackie Pack is telling people that he has been in talks about the Floyd Central job. No idea beyond that what is going on, but it sounds like change is coming.

Pack has been known to blow smoke. Why in the world would they hire someone who’s been out of the game for so long? But it is Floyd County lol

My first thoughts were trying to figure out if any political ties would get him in. I just don’t know enough about that part of the county to say.

I just wish the job would come open so if anyone was interested they could just put in for the position.

Because he was going to be an assistant for Justin Holbrook. I’ve heard and know that Holbrook was offered the position but refused. This is 100%.

If I am not mistaken, Jack Pack was Wheelwright High School's final coach so he does have some history with that area.

Both of those guys are two of the best to ever do it here and they ended their careers at UPike. It’s a different animal playing D1 basketball compared to your average 6’4 center in the 15th. Speed, athleticism, skill are all nearly unmatched with D1 basketball players. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Like I said, it’s not a knock. You have to be a special kind of player to compete at that level.
Yea , theres a lot of truth to this and I dont have a dog on this tree... Ive had the privelage to have played some ball with D1 athletes and even a  few AAA ball players in my life...I was pretty decent and big, I held my own with boys from UPike and Alice LLoyd no problem...
That said, size or not when I played against D1 talent it was a whole different level of good... Just raw athlleticism , speed and hop.... Then the AAA ball players, stupid good.. The first time I took a throw from short, from one of those guys, holy $hit... and this was just league games...
Im not bragging because them boys showed me what D1 talent was and how far above what we were use to...

All them guys that play AAA didn’t play D1 by the way. Several D2s, D3s, NAIA, and Dominican Pipeline. Very talented players at all levels. But yeah there are more at the D1 level I’d imagine on the rosters.

Usually where there's smoke, there's fire.

Some truth about Pack coming back to the sidelines, but not in a HC capacity, one thing I seen on here that was true is if Holbrook would've taken the job, Pack would be an assistant. He would also be an assistant if another candidate is considered, but again the job still isn't open yet so just have to wait and see. So, there was some validity to Pack being back on the sidelines, but not in a HC capacity, and doubt that it will happen now.

If your work ethic is good enough and you just work hard enough then you can become 6'6" with a 40" vertical. Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps if you want to make it to a D1 school!

This thread is getting kinda silly.

Jack Pack at FC in any capacity would truly be a wild experience. He's got more basketball knowledge and experience than anybody else in Floyd county and he isn't afraid to tell you exactly what he thinks about anything. I would love to see it!

i think right now everyone waiting to see if Moore even steps downs. He been there since 2019 won a district during covid and really that been his biggest compliment while coaching boys basketball. Hopefully he and his staff step down and allow someone else to take over. If not then we shall see what happens. I don’t think he will since he hasn’t already done so and why step down if they have allowed him to stay around with his record.

Alan Joe is a good person and was yelled at by parents and players. Now regardless of win or losses he deserves better. Now he been there for awhile and done some stuff but maybe give Justin triphet a chance who coach with him at south Floyd and Floyd central, mason hall, larry mullins who could be a great high school coach is all I’m saying.
