Sad to hear, a decade ago you could argue Holmes had one of the Best Boys & Girls combo programs in the state.
They are playing a JV schedule so thats good to hear.
I know Covid era has tremendously hurt Holmes Athletics as a whole. Also all the revitalizing and house flipping and updating going on in Covington right now, have to wonder if it has moved some of the potential athletics out of the district.
I am told MS program has good numbers so looks to be just a 1 year blip.

I get it, but they could still play varsity with whoever is on JV/middle school. May not win a lot, but at least they get varsity experience and can learn from that. Very sad time for Holmes.

I don’t see why they would cancel their season unless they have 5 or less girls out for basketball. Our school, which is much smaller than Holmes, has only 7 girls playing basketball from grades 7-12. That’s it, 7. And zero players above 10th grade.
They are still playing a schedule.

I was told today there are zero Seniors or Juniors on the Roster.
I think this is the right call if that is the case.
