Hazard looked very much improved but still had a lot of mental mistakes, which is expected in your first scrimmage with a new coach. Had some really good athletes to make plays here and there. One WR was really fast and they used him in jet sweeps and he scored the touchdown on the varsity defense for bell, probably about 75 yards and juked 2 or 3 guys in the secondary on a busted coverage. The TE #0 was very big and moved well but just wasn’t utilized a ton. I thought they can win a few games here and there if the QBs can get settled. 3 picks and none of them were really near a receiver. 

Bell could not get anything started in the wishbone, but moved the ball fairly easily in the spread. Most times I’ve ever seen dudley throw it even in a scrimmage but they got it done. A lot of times they would go wishbone 1st and 2nd down, get stuffed, and then spread it out on 3rd and long and get 20 plus yards. Throwing it was obviously a weapon but just spreading the defense out and running it made a huge difference and opened up the holes. 

The one thing that is yet to be determined is the line for bell, they played 9 guys on the oline in the first two-three drives alone. It wasn’t even just trying to let the young bunch play it was a lot of subbing up front in the main varsity group and hopefully they can figure it out before the 23rd. You can tell at least 3 spots still open for grabs on the line.

Does anyone know why Max Pelfry didn’t play for Hazard? He’s going into his senior season and would of been a 3rd year starter for hazard at the qb spot.

He looked good in the short passing game, but the 3 picks were all on deep passes. If they kept attacking the under neath they looked as if they could be successful. they have a lot of athletes that need the ball in their hands.

His decision making is awful and has to be better before the athletes will ever be able to get the ball in their hands.
