Jaguars end the season with their first win of the season. Betsy Layne completes the regular season at 5-5. They will travel to Paris next week for the playoffs.

I thought Floyd Central was just bigger and stronger than Betsy Layne and had their way most of the game. Betsy Layne played better in the second half, but I think FC also took their foot off the gas some once they got up 44-16ish.

WMDJ said in the post game that BL had 25 penalties tonight, including 5 sideline penalties. I'm pretty certain a player not dressed was even ejected for the Bobcats. This season wasn't as bad as last for unsportsmanlike actions from BL, but it still cannot continue as the staff and school is going to get a reputation that's only going to hurt the school and the players in the long run.

Outside of that for BL, Music and Robinson played pretty good games for the Bobcats. Music is a excellent running back. They're going to miss him.

Happy for Floyd Central and coach Hager. They played a great first half and imposed their will on Betsy Layne. County rivalries are always fun and carry a lot of bragging rights also, so I know the FC folks are happy to end their losing streak and end it against Betsy Layne.

You are spot on with everything here.  FC out played, coached, and classed BL tonight!

I posted the following comment in the wrong thread earlier so I apologize if you are reading it for the 2nd time but I feel that strongly about it.

"I am about as big of a Betsy Layne supporter as you will ever find. Played there, graduated from there, and coached there. With that being said, I am absolutely sick and tired of the poor sportsmanship and actions that are continuously made by the athletics programs. I shouldn't be ashamed of my alma mater yet here I am."

I'm very disappointed in this BL program. They've got talent but it seems like they peaked in weeks 1 and 2 and got progressively worse and less disciplined as the season went on. I think the administration at BL needs to seriously reevaluate this program and make some hard choices moving forward or they're gonna start losing their best players to the north and south on US 23 again.

I agree with you 100%. After attending this game figuring it was going to be a good one, it’s embarrassing to attend such a horrible managed sideline as in BL.  Jarrell has no control and let’s the sideline do as they please.  I guess they do what they see and think it’s ok.

im surprised the superintendent hasn’t stepped in yet to get things under control.

very poor actions by BL staff, the administration needs to make some changes.

Rewatched the game this morning and it is even more disappointing the second time around.  Over 200 yards of penalties for BL if you account for positive plays negated.  5+ Unsportsmanlike calls, not sure who all they were called on.

I don't even know how to approach trying to resolve these issues, it is crazy.

Unfortunately for BL they already have that rep. Football and basketball for the past few years. Fights, players ejected, even had a football game that ended prematurely due to fighting last season. Last year in a middle school game they had 2 ejected for throwing punches and what surprised me was parents applauded when it happened! I said this last year. BL needs to correct this ship. It’s not the look you want for your program.

If they can learn to not beat themselves.
