Sounds like a good one

Both teams made adjustments and played a fun second half. I thought Russ Osborne and Max Pelfrey played some great football, especially in the second half. Max Johnson made some big plays for Hazard. Bentley and Newsome made some big time plays for Valley. Just a fun second half that come down to the last seconds. Hats off to Hazard for going for the win. Can't blame them a bit.
Good luck to both in the playoffs.
Good luck to both in the playoffs.

Congratulations to Valley watched this one on Mountain Top tv

I’m not a coach, but there’s no other person I’m throwing too other than Max Johnson or having it in his hands.

Be a early exit for valley again in the playoffs. Play a weak schedule and pad stats all year and when they play someone with a pulse in the playoffs there season will be over.

Early exits for Hazard and SV

Agree on that jet had to turn it off terrible football game by both.

Wow, what an ending. Shelby Valley did everything in their power to give this game away, but got the final stop when they needed it.
The first half was sloppy by both teams. SV had the ball deep in Hazard territory 3 times, but was stopped on 4th down twice, and also threw an interception. Their only score was on a pick-six. Hazard, on the other hand, struggled to move the ball at all, but scored on a 52 yard pass when the Valley CB fell down. All in all, a first half both teams would rather forget.
The second half started out much better for the Wildcats. They would march down the field and take their first lead on a 4th down touchdown pass. After stopping the Bulldogs, Valley ended a long drive with another touchdown, and held a 20-7 lead with just over 8 minutes to go.
The last 8 minutes would belong to Hazard, though, more specifically to their passing game. SV had stonewalled Hazard's rushing attack all night long, so they finally decided to attack through the air. A quick score on a long pass would cut the lead to 20-14. Valley then methodically marched back down and took a seeming insurmountable lead, 28-14, with only about a couple minutes to go. But Hazard moved quickly down the field again, and scored on another long pass to cut the lead to 28-21. The wildcats committed a brain fart by roughing the kicker on the extra point, putting the kickoff on the SV side of the field already. Despite knowing the onside was coming, Valley was unable to secure the ball, giving Hazard another chance with about 30 seconds on the clock. After a few plays that only gained a few yards, the Bulldogs faced a 4th down with only 7 seconds left to go. Amazingly, Hazard was able to hit on another TD throw as the buzzer sounded.
Even though everyone assumed that this game would be decided in overtime, Hazard's coach had no intention of this game lasting any longer. The game would be decided on a 2-point conversion, and with the way Valley's pass defense had looked for the past 8 minutes, it seemed like a smart decision. However, SV managed to knock down the potential game-winning pass, and the ballgame ended.
Great game to both sides, and good luck to all in the playoffs. Go Cats!

Weak schedule? Letcher Central, North Laurel, and Hazard count as weak?

Hazard is terrible and they beat Letcher. North Laurel is 5-4 and will be a early exit in the playoffs just like valley. Weak schedule as always!!!

Shelby valley will win 2 maybe 3 games in the playoffs. You people don't get out and watch any football

Hazard has wins over Letcher, Somerset, and Ashland.
Letcher has a win over Breathitt and a 1-point loss to Johnson Central.
North Laurel did beat Johnson Central, and is only 5-4 because a 43-0 win became a forfeit loss this week.
None of these three teams are terrible. Valley did a pretty good job putting together their schedule. I expect they will win the first two playoff games, then have a decent shot at beating Breathitt in the third round.

Personally, I think Shelby Valley is pretty darn good. I don't think they're a contender for a state championship, but they're a legit top 10 team in 2A and they're doing it with home grown kids. That deserves to be recognized and applauded. There aren't many of your better teams in the 13th-16th region areas that can say that.

Final rpi rankings are out and Pikeville and Raceland are 1 and 2 so they wouldn’t play until the finals. Hazard is 3. Most likely round 3 games will be Paintsville at Pikeville and Hazard/Williamsburg at Raceland. I see Pikeville and Raceland running clock everyone on their way to Kroger field

Congratulations Shelby Valley!!!

Big win heading into the playoffs. Momentum from a game like this in late October can be a huge catalyst in the coming weeks.

Hazard is down the worst team they have had on 8-10 yrs and again they beat Letcher. North Is descent so I’ll give you that one. By the RPI now you have to easy games to start and then will travel to Beechwood and Breathitt will travel to Lloyd. If Valley truly wanted to get ready for the playoffs they would schedule a 2-3 of the following: Pikeville, Belfry, JC, Corbin, LCA, Southwest, Pulaski etc. You will take some L’s but it will prepare for the Beechwood’s in the playoffs.

Valleys schedule wasn’t as weak as you want everyone to believe.
Good win for Valley!
Anytime you get a chance to beat up on the dawgs then you better take advantage of it.

Great game to watch. If Valley hadn’t made a couple mistakes in the first half this score could have been worse. I’m a little surprised that Hazard went for 2 on that last play. Definitely helped Pikeville in the RPI.

Nice win for Shelby Valley!
10-29-2022, 02:31 PM
The reason they would is because all of these teams struggle to get teams on the schedule every two years when it’s time to sign 2 yr contracts. Your coaches are all over social media weekly putting your big offensive stats out there for everyone to see. They need to take the next step and schedule some tough games for next two years to really see if the program is truly where they say it is. Or they can schedule weak again and put big numbers up and exit the playoffs early as usual.

Lloyd is the 2 seed in their district but they should beat Walton Verona round 2. Round 3 in the East should be Shelby Valley at Beechwood and Breathitt at Lloyd. If Valley wanted to make their schedule better they should get rid of Floyd Central and pick up Lawrence County, Paintsville, or Raceland(10-29-2022, 10:39 AM)Panthers Dominate Wrote: Hazard is down the worst team they have had on 8-10 yrs and again they beat Letcher. Not a very good showing for Hazard heading into the playoffs. They'll have a hard time getting by Williamsburg with this type of effort. And that is if they don't fall to Pineville in the first round.

They will beat Williamsburg by 3 TDs
