This is the best matchup South could've asked for. It might be tough, but I see them pulling it out
02-26-2017, 07:27 PM
South by 10 plus

I don't know about this one. Both teams are "tournament teams" and it's going to be a gritty fight from start to finish.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Does anyone know if Feltner will play anymore for South? He's missed the past few games, and is a big rebounder and defensive player for them
02-26-2017, 08:04 PM
It is my understanding that he will be back for the tournament.
02-26-2017, 08:50 PM
Some folks are being fooled a little by South's late losses, injuries and schedule had more to do with it than some collapse. They are super dangerous and should win this one say 74-63.

Be best game matchup in region tournament
02-26-2017, 09:51 PM
This will be the best first round game of the tournament. I'm looking forward to this one. I think clay will win a nail biter. 65-66, last shot wins it.

Grubb and Ramey are too much for the Tigers. South Laurel by 12.
02-27-2017, 12:20 AM
All I have heard is that he was cleared to play.
02-27-2017, 02:51 PM
Grubb will score at will against my tigers..........No reason South shouldn't take this one by double digits.
02-27-2017, 03:28 PM
Think the experience of South proves to be the turning point. I'll take South 72-56
02-27-2017, 03:33 PM
In my opinion, this will be a closer game than most people are expecting. Clay is playing good basketball right now. I believe South is the better team, but the best team don't always win.
02-27-2017, 03:53 PM
I'm sorry but I've watched Clay all year and to me they are not playing good basketball......A not so good Jackson County team had them beat in the district......they lose to a not so good bell county team the game before that.......yes we did win district and beat North Laurel but Clay is not playing good basketball right now.......they are to inconsistent.........if Curry and Sams can't it going from the outside then South will blow them out of the arena........
02-27-2017, 04:13 PM
The key for Clay will the be if they are willing to throw it inside to their post players. SL beat them by 8 points the last time, I know it was at Clay, but Gabbard dominated with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Curry struggled during this game, Grubb guarded him a lot in that game and his strength and experienced bothered him. If Clay will play inside/out and play together, they may shock everyone by pulling the upset. If they start playing "hero" ball then it will be a long night in Tiger Land

I completely agree with you eku 23. cchsfanforlife you sure don't sound like you are much of a fan. You are giving the tigers no chance.
02-27-2017, 07:01 PM
I am a fan and always have been.......but I'm a realistic fan......I hope I am wrong but what I see is a more consistent....more experienced team in South and I think they will win by double digits.......I'm proud that Clay won the district after what they lost last year and with the coaching change.......but South is a better team. They were last year and they are again this year.

South has more talent, more experience, and more depth. If clay don't feed gabbard the ball every trip down the floor they are FOOLS and will get run out of the gym. Clay needs to slow the game way down. That being said South wins easy
02-28-2017, 12:20 AM
South by 6
02-28-2017, 12:25 AM
Clay 69 South 66
02-28-2017, 01:24 AM
South def wants to speed this one way up Getting stops will be key to doing that
02-28-2017, 03:04 AM
South will be very hard to defend at all 5 spots. The Tigers must value each possession and keep the tempo at a crawl!!
02-28-2017, 03:12 AM
Totally my opinion: You can flush whatever you may know/have seen about the Tigers up until tournament time. It is irrelevant. Clay is a tournament team and will bring it...period! Whichever team executes their game plan the best will win this game. Can Clay slow it down and run the inside/out game efficiently? Can the Cards run the Tiger's tongue's out on the big floor with their speed/depth? The team that gets to put a checkmark beside that box will win...plain and simple. The experience that is carried over from last year will no doubt give South Laurel an advantage. Just like someone mentioned earlier...the best team don't always win. I have not heard a report on Coach Davis' health after having to leave District Championship game Friday night and go to the hospital. I pray he is able to be on the bench with his Cards. #GoTigers

South Laurel will have to play well against clay co half court zone when they cant push the ball It wouldnt surprise me to see clay in some junk defenses
