The Colonels played well defensively, had an off night shooting the ball, but the defensive pressure was the difference.
Good Start for the Colonels!!

I seen a lot of people, including catspause putting Whitley 4th in this district and I just don't get it. They've got more coming back than Corbin who was placed as first.
Than again, we know who writes for the cats pause so that's about useless.
If Whitley keeps playing good basketball, this could be the first year I ever remember where Whitley and Wburg make it to region, even going back to the 7 team district days.
Wouldn't surprise me to see anyone win the district, but I think Whitley has a better shot then Corbin and south.

I defended Whitley during the summer when people were writing them off, plus Whitley was 8th in the region. How often have they been that high in the last 30 years.
It's a coaches' poll. It has been for years. You could have put the four in the 50th in about any order:
Despite losing star guard Tyler McDaniel a year early to the University of Kentucky and a golf scholarship and center Jake Allen to graduation, the Tigers find themselves back on top heading into the 2014-2015 campaign. Clay received six of 14 first-place votes and 65 points in the annual Cats Pause coaches poll, edging Knox Central by two points as the Panthers picked up the other eight first-place votes.
North Laurel was third with 26 points, followed closely by Corbin with 24 points and Williamsburg with 16 points. South Laurel, Harlan County, Whitley County, Bell County and Jackson County rounded out the top 10.

I wasn't in anyway talking about you. I was talking about contributors that write the articles. I'll be surprised if Corbin Or South finish ahead of Whitley this year. Wburg and there 19 seniors will be decent but I don't even think they're as good as Whitley.
How good is this Bell team? Was this a decent win or an expected one? I just don't follow basketball anymore. Not a lot to cheer for in high school basketball.

Bell is way down this year, Imo but this is still a nice margin of victory considering how Bell wants to slow the game down

Whitley was 8th in the preseason poll and Bell was 9th, so it was a nice win. Bell lost four starters and one other good young player transferred to Pineville.

If I'm not mistaken the group of Jrs at Whitley won the conference as middle schoolers. This is a solid group of players.

Who played well for Bell?

Whitley should be very good this year
