All I can say is if we dont see a change in the qb then we wont make it past the second round come playoff time Edwards with 2 ints one for a td and a fumble with 53 secs to go on the 39 yard line... Wow
10-04-2014, 04:02 AM
Edwards throws an int with 14 secs left in the 1st half for a score then fumble with 39 left in the game talking about clutch.. Man I hate to degrade a kid but its the coaches fault playing a kid because the name on his jersey isn't going to cut it... Somethings gotta change or we're in trouble... Middlesboro moves to 3-2-1 Union Va now moves to 5-1

I don't post very often, but to see somebody get on here and rip a kid like that is totally uncalled for.
#1 How in the world can you possibly think it helps the team you're a fan of in any way to single out a player like that?
#2 Your facts are wrong. Middlesboro lost two fumbles but that kid didn't fumble a single time in the game. There was one interception at the 50-yard line with 14 seconds to go before halftime. Union threw a 50-yard touchdown pass on the next play to tie the game. A freshman took every snap but one at QB in the fourth quarter and didn't look bad. The kid you're so down on came back in due to an injury (cramp) and ran in a 3-yard touchdown on a broken play instead of hanging his head for being took out of the game.
I was at the game. I saw a lot of kids trying their hardest to win but there just too many mistakes against a good opponent (2 fumbles, the int., a bad snap on a punt, 10 penalties, giving up a 67-yard kick return to start the second half). All of those things won't usually happen in one game and most of them are fixable. I think the team will be fine going forward unless the players start pointing fingers and doubting the coaches like you're doing. Then they might not even make it out of the first round.

Major is a heck of a QB and most teams would love to have him. Calling your own player out on here is pretty bad especially 1 that has played a ton of football for your team.
10-04-2014, 03:22 PM
I don't think you can put all this game on the qb? Union is a descent team, but nobody thought they'd be better than middlesboro? Before they got blown out by Gate City they were in the top 10 of 2a, but they were not ranked among the top 40 overall. Middlesboro's defense had some miscues in this game as well. It may simply come down to them not being as good as people thought or advertised them to be? However, there is a lot of season left, and this could be a hiccup in what turns out to be a great season? Or, it could also spotlight their weaknesses and their confidence could take a hit, which could affect the rest of the season? I hope they bounce back.

This one suprised me a little. Congrats to Union.
I think the Middlesboro "super fan" ThisIsIt14 is a kid himself from reading all of his post. If not, wow.

I think that is what most people are hoping? That's why most have stopped commenting on his posts. All I know, he really doesn't like the idea of Prestonsburg being talked about more than Middlesboro. Haha

I hate to see team from out of state win however you must learn from your mistakes and this time of year strange things can and will and has happened.

I am a Jacket fan. But, I honestly have to tell you that if I had a kid, he would not play for Middlesboro. There are at least 2 players that sit the bench that deserve to be playing. But they are not seniors. I don't care if you are a senior, it does not mean you are the best player. I don't see them winning another game unless it is Lynn Camp. This is not the kids fault, you lay this right on the coaches shoulders. You put in #6 when Barton got hurt...absolutely ridiculous. And he's a senior too. Get off you senior bull and play the best players.

What attitude with the team? The only player I see with attitude is Pittman. This kid can quit, walk off, and they BEG him to play. I don't care how good you are, walk off on me and you can keep on walking. I'm sure there are players with attitude that have to sit the bench that should be playing, but overall I don't see attitude with these boys. When you choose who plays because they are a senior or your afraid they will quit if you say anything to them is out of line. And get off the QB, coaches call the plays. And like I said, don't talk about attitude with any of those boys unless you call Pittman out! Enough is enough with that kid.

Pittman is the only one that has been playing like he wants to win... Out of the last 2 games he's score over half the points... Theirs not a player on that bench better yet on that team that can replace Pittman... We lose Pittman and Middlesboro wont make it past the first round of the playoffs.. I'm just talking about qb play if a kid can play let him play like Pittman but if not sit him like Edwards..

Who else should play quarterback?
10-04-2014, 11:49 PM
I'm a fan of Major Edwards and have been since he was in Middle school , he earned the starting QB job fair and square and to answer HDE's question #17 Tyler Yoakum would be our next best option he's played QB in the past and is the back up now. Freshman #1 Chase Elliott isn't there yet but he's gonna be a dandy someday.

No, you can take one quick look a Major and one quick look at me and tell we're not related. I just didn't like seeing a kid get bashed on here, especially for things that didn't happen.

Did Barton get hurt?

Congrats to Union. Good luck to Middlesboro the rest of the way. Seriously. I want all these mountain squads to make so much noise in the state playoffs.

I was talking about his attitude and the way he can walk off anytime he wants to, miss practice and stomp his feet to get his way. Learn to read. I do not think any kid should be called out for their attitude unless you call him out. All I hear is these kids have attitude and it makes me sick he gets by with acting out in the classroom and talks to the coaches any way he wants to. I'm there and you are not. Pittman is by far the best player on the team, he just shouldn't get by with being disrespectful because he is a team leader. Read carefully before you reply!

Number one fan you must not attend many games huh???? If you did I would assume you have saw the way Pittman plays(with a passion) actually he's the only reason I attend many of the games as well as many other of buddies. Also to thisisit14, let it go bud. Edwards is a good player he's just stuck in the wrong position. Me myslelf, i think he needs to be a d end or fullback due to the way he runs the ball but hey I just go watch the games, so what does any of our opinions matter? Get it together jackets you're 0-0 now.

People talk about the attitude of the team and I don't see that from those boys, except Pittman. As far as Edwards, he plays selfish football and you are right, he has been in the wrong position for way too long.

I don't know the Pittman kid personally, so I won't comment on his attitude. However, I will say over the past several decades I've seen a plethora of kids that have gotten stuck with that type of "attitude" label when it wasn't warranted. All kids play with different emotions. These are still developing teenagers that haven't yet figured out how to use their emotions in a positive way. That doesn't mean he has an attitude. In the cases I've seen it was a rare breed of athlete that absolutely hated to lose, more so than they liked winning. These kids would get tagged with having attitudes when in reality they were outwardly showing their disgust for his team doing something unsuccessfully. They were also usually harder on themselves as well when they screwed up. It may look like a brat throwing a tantrum, but in most cases its a kid that hasn't found a way to channel his emotions when failure happens. I wouldn't be so quick to judge the young man if you don't know what's going on with him personally? Having a passion for winning and being the best is a lot different than having an attitude problem. Hopefully he will find someone in his life that can help him learn how to channel that because in all the cases I've seen its usually one of the best players on the team that it happens too.
