Clay County 61 Perry County Central 60
#1
Final, Kody Reed hits game winning free throw with .7 seconds left in the game to secure the victory for the Tigers.
#2
Nice win for Clay
#3
Kody Reed with a huge game. Johnson from PCC is a manchild. McDaniel proved what a warrior and player he is tonight.
#4
Sounds like pcc mite have got robbed tonite...lol...freethrow with .7 sec
#5
Who is the hottest team in the 13th now? Them Clay Co Tigers?
#6
No actually it was called pretty clean, Reed went in for a shot at the buzzer and was killed I mean hacked hard by one of the PCC bigs. It was a no brainer call, Clay just wanted it more tonight, give them the respect they earned..
#7
Nice win by Clay County. Not a good loss for Perry with some big games coming up. Clay should be favorite for the 13th region crown.
#8
Wow! This is a HUGE win for Clay, seems like Clay is getting it all together at the right time! The McDaniel/Beverly matchup had to be a nice matchup to watch between 2 really gifted young pg's..

Congrats to clay co. It's never good for a team to loose but loosing a game this close before district and regional tournament gives a team more momentum and play harder just my opinion

When Reed is playing good for the Tigers, they are a very good team.
#11
Proud of the Tigers! Chip and the senior Tigers played their best game tonight at the Bobby Keith gym.:Cheerlead

Reed is the KEY for CC. McDaniel is going to get his. The kid has ice in his veins and easily outplayed a very good player in Beverly. I said at the beginning of the year Reed had top 5 player in the region potential. It took him 26 games but he finally showed it tonight.

Nice win Clay Co.

I don't know if things have changed in recent years in the 13th with their officiating, but if it hasn't then Perry can consider a one point loss in Manchester as a moral victory. Back in the day when they had Kirk, Woods, Ashurst, and several more, it was nearly impossible for outsiders to win at a 13th region gym.
#15
Who were the referees in this game? And the second question I have is how many players does clay county have on their roster that are from perry county.
#16
Clay County has 0 players from Perry County. 0 transfers. I believe Perry might have one though. You all keep up ya moaning and groaning. Perry won at their place and Clay won at their place. Two good teams with some nice talent. I hope to see both again come March in Rupp.

Called this one.
The almighty 14th region usually isnt as almighty as some would like to believe.

I hope that stuff doesn't go on anymore. I was told by a referee friend of mine that during the Keith era coach Keith made it known that if you were calling a big Clay Co game and you called it the way Coach Keith wanted, a new suit would be waiting for you at Dobson and Keith clothing store. My friend said he never accepted the suit but his officiating partner sure did.

During the 1991 season, Clay Co. was deep into their 100+ game home court winning streak. Bo Rhoden of Corbin tipped in a missed shot for the Corbin win a couple seconds before the final buzzer. An official who had not yet crossed the half court line called over the back and waved off the basket. Just one example.

Most of you guys on here are sore losers. In Clay's prime(1984-92) they won anywhere and everywhere, not just in Manchester. Won the LIT, Ashland Invitational, WYMT, & Sweet 16. Didn't need help at home 99% of the time against any team from the mountains...usually just beat them by 20+ and called it a day. Clay was usually concerned about Louisville Fairdale, Ballard, etc. Just calling it like it was.

Things have changed in the 13th region and their officiating. It has gotten WORSE!! At least the ones you mentioned were about show boating themselves, and only casually watched the game!! These days, the officials rarely have control of the game, and only blow their whistles when things get out of hand. "Things" shouldn't get that far to begin with!!

Wow, I would have LOVED to have seen this game! Bet it was a slobber knocker!! Congratulations Clay County Tigers!!!

Tough loss for the Dores. Why is it when any team gets beat and it is A tight game they blame it on the officals. All games are not decided by the refs. A foul is A foul no matter if is the first second of the game or the last. With that being said we showed again tonight that we have A hard time guarding quick perimeter players. Much like in the WYMT Clays Guards did what they wanted,

Clay Co. is just simply playing very well right now and it couldn't come at a better time. They've always had potential, but again, I go back to the WYMT game. Clay Co. dominated Perry Central and in the 4th Quarter, the officials absolutely STOLE one from Clay Co. because it was a given to have an all-14th Region Semifinal.

Barbourville is playing very well in the 13th as well. This is really what it's all about. Who is playing best when it matters most? That fact alone is what will get one team to Rupp Arena in a couple of weeks and I cannot wait to see who prevails!

As for this one, congratulations Clay Co. well deserved.

If Clay County were in the 14th region this year they would be rated no better than 4th best team, possibly 5th. I would rate Perry Central, Knott Central, and a now healthy Hazard in front of them on a neutral court.

I know the mcdaniels boy went to grade school in perry county.

Lookayanner, I'm going to agree with you. Clay would probably be 4th, even though I think they matchup really well with Knott. The beauty about this Clay team is there are no Canadian transfers or any for that matter. With that being said they can beat anybody in the 14th as shown last night.

What got clay beat in the wymt was not the refs it was clay county's coach who decided to start holding the ball. If he would have kept on pushing the ball then clay county would have won.

It's funny how short people's memories are. Clay might not have a transfer this year but they were one of the worst recruiting schools in the state for a long time.
#28
give clay some credit, this is a nice win.
#29
My memory is not short hitter. Name all the transfers you know from 1980-present. Not near as many as you're acting like.

I called it as well.

However, when any big name team from the 14th plays an away game in another region around here right before the tournament - you can expect a loss.

I didn't see it so I can't comment too much - but I'd almost guarantee that Perry Central got the ole' Bobby Keith special.
