Ryle's yo-yo season continues. Big win for Ryle!

Maybe Holmes may be a bit OVERRATED. They are always vulnerable for a loss with their point gaurd play.

I just can't figure this Ryle team out. Nonetheless, a big win for them tonight against the Bulldogs.

I said a potential upset could happen in this game and it did.
Congrats Ryle!
Congrats Ryle!

Got back from the game about 45 minutes ago. Holmes seemed sluggish all night, perhaps because this was the Bulldogs' first game in 10 days. I'd be surprised if Holmes shot 33% on the night. Ricardo and especially Pittman struggled to find their shots all night. Ryle's big guys stymied Pittman under the bucket and the Raiders extended their guards to limit Holmes' trey attempts. As a result, Holmes took a lot of fairly open midrange shots all night. Very few went in.
Having said that, a tip of the hat to Ryle. They came to play, especially after being down by 10 or 12 in the first quarter. They passed the ball well, they shot well tonight, they scooped up most of the loose balls, and they play good defense. They most certainly earned this win.
Holmes definitely has some problems to address after this game. Perhaps this game will serve as a wake-up call because in 10 days or so they play Highlands, Warren Central and Boone in a 5-day period.

Wow. Great game by Ryle!! Hope that Holmes can bounce back.

Wow is right, just WOW! I can't figure this team out. It is more than just PG play. Holmes talent should allow them to be a solid, not great, but solid Ryle team even without Avery.

Wow, I thought he was not coming back till next week. Proves my point then. Dogs are just an unmotivated basketball team. People are saying overrated or not that good, that';s flat out wrong. This is a team that just doesn't give the effort that they are capable of. They have NO LEADERSHIP!

Did Holmes get beat by a team ranked 63 in the state according to Maxpreps and a team that came into the game with a losing record?
01-26-2010, 11:57 PM
Kinda shocked by this one.

Only 46 points? Unbelievable with all the D1 talent and athletes they have.

You haven't paid attention to their scores then. This is the norm and has been, even last year. If you can win a State title by only socring in he 40's low 50's, you are obviously holding the other team to a lot less!

WOW, sure didn't see this one coming, this shows that talent alone doesn't win ballgames. Holmes does have a least 2 big time recruits don't they?

Holmes does not have a true point guard. If they had one, they would be unstoppable!

Congratulations Ryle on a nice win!

The effort was there tonight; the shots just weren't falling. If Pittman hits second free throw with 20 seconds left in game, the score's tied and we probably go to OT. The ball just didn't bounce Holmes' way tonight after a 10-day layoff. Lots of ball left to play.

Look, it's not a personal shot at Holmes. I've seen them play a lot. I did not see tonights game, but I have watched enough of them to know that they rarely play their best. I truly believe that the regualar season is just not a big priority to the Players. I know how they are coached, but I also have watched them be lax on defense. When this team wants to, they can put a stranglehold on a team with their press. They are still the most physically gifted team in the State, but they do not give that type of effort in December and January. I expect, just as last year, when the postseason get closer and closer, you will see a different Dawgs team!

I am gonna say Holmes will not make it out of the 9th region

I tend to agree with you. They seem to play when they want to. Has to be very frustrating to the coach and fans of Holmes.

I didn't see this one coming. And also I will disagree on the opinion that the regular season is not a big deal to the players. It is.

Holmes for the most part has been a pretty big let down this season. The coach needs to speed up the play for his team with all the talent he has there. I have no idea why this team continues to only score 50-60 points.

Bulldogs may stumble a few times - but when it is tournament time - they do show up. the Bulldogs are State Champs and i predict the same again. They do bring it in March!!! :1:

I think you nailed this one down perfectly. You can have very talented players and not have a great team. Holmes seems to be a very good example of todays myth about great teams. You can have all the talent in the world, but without team chemistry, you can be beaten by teams that don't have as athletic or talented players. I will take teams that know how to play and make their team better in any contest instead of just taking the "most talented" teams. This is one reason you have major upsets in the NCAA tournament of a team from a "lesser" conference beating the highly talented players that are NBA bound.

With everything being said, Still a big win for Ryle. Congrats to Ryle on being ready to play.

Big win for the Raiders.

Ryle - the S. Carolina of high school b-ball! Haha. Nice win.
