#1
This is the word on other forums, but it could just be a big rumor. I hope not, as this IMO would be the best recuit Kentucky would sign this year.

Any of the Highlands faitful know anything of this topic????

*UPDATE: COLLINSOWRTH DENIES THE REPORT TO THE CAT'S PAUSE*

From the above link:

• Austin Collinsworth is a senior wide receiver on the sixth-ranked high school football team in the country, Kentucky's Fort Thomas Highlands. He has committed to Kentucky. He has no offer from Florida, where his father, Cris, was a quarterback turned receiver for the Gators. Cris had a great NFL career in Cincinnati and is now Al Michaels' sidekick on NFL games on Sunday night on NBC.

Your'e right, but at least the got the best player from the state of Kentucky.
#10
Thank god... all of the Highlands folks made is seem as if he was going to Vandy, Stanford, or Harvard. Had me worried we had let another in-state player go.

Congrats Austin!

GREAT news to hear. Will he be a good college athlete? Will he play RB? What is he rated, 3*, 4*, 5*?
#12
This is great he is a fantastic player and a fantastic student. He is exactly the kind of player Rich Brooks loves. I see him as a properly sized Dickey Lyons Jr

My guess is he'll either be a receiver or safety.

He's a 3*.

Okay, thanks.

Was his dad highly rated, whenever he went to Florida?

I don't think that is true. AC has been very interested in the educational challenge. It looks to me like his parents won out, they are the one's who wanted him to stay near by. Plus, this is where his mother was a cheerleader, and his grandfather was a star football player. No shocker here, but wouldn't have been surprised to see a kid who had offers all over the country take any one of them.
#17
This is just rumor at this point! Look, the kid is good and a gamer but saying we got the best out of the state this year is not saying much. The state was very weak in talent this year!!

Really, are you a football scout??? I think the state has plenty of talent. As for AC he visitied another school this weekend so I'm not too sure about the story of him committing to UK???
#19
Autsin at this point has NOT committed to UK.
#20
Not a scout, but I do see A LOT of football. What I am stating is a fact! If I'm wrong, then why do the real scouts agree with me!

His grandfather was a basketball player.

Then someone needs to change the title to rumor if that is what it is.

It's OK to post something that's been reported. Just becasue it's been reported does not make it true. We should only be putting rumor when we post something without a source, meaning a link.
#24
Thanks Stardust for clearing it up.

That's right. His grandfather(Lincoln Collinsworth) played for Salyersville High School, which is now Magoffin Co. High School. Salyersville is only 14 miles away from Paintsville(Johnson Central). Kinda makes Austin somewhat of a native son,..... er kinda.

Funny, I remember reading and talking to some of the scouts and they thought this was a banner year for players in our area. Also I wouldn't listen to everything some of the scouts say. They tend to lock on to players based on the previous year and if your not one of their players you get overlooked. I rely on the college coaches opinion more than the so-called scouts.

I think he should skip college and go straight to the NFL. He could sign right now and replace Reggie Wayne for the Colts. Wayne hasn't produced like Collinsworth would. He could lead them to the Superbowl this year and get the MVP.

When Highlands played at JC last year, Abe (he went by Linc or Lincoln when he was younger but now goes by his first name) had a lot of old friends and relatives from the area coming up to him before and after the game. It's was like "old home week" for him. He loved it. Abe is one of the finest men I know. It's easy to see why Cris and the grandkids have turned out so well.
