It was really bad at LCA tonight. I thought Breathitt was going to give LCA a challenge but, I thought wrong big time. We had 5 turnovers in the first half alone, three fumbles by Channing, and I think Jade and Fletcher lost the other two. I dont know what in the world is going on here. I think the coaching staff should really sit down and think about moving to a triple option attack instead of the spread.

Not what I expected. District play will be a different story for Bocats.
09-19-2009, 10:26 AM
No, this is not what I really expected either..... And I agree with the sentiment that there is no valid excuse for a team in Breathitt's position at the beginning of the season to lose by the margin they did to a class A team. That's not to take anything away from LCA, their a fantastic team, but it makes me wonder if the Bobcats don't have some other problems under the surface we fans aren't aware of. I haven't heard any rumors, but I know a lot of fans are starting to have a general feeling of exasperation and frustration with the situation. I wonder how the players and coaching staff are going to deal with that and if they have enough moxy to turn the situation around

I think 63 points tellls us all we need to know about what's wrong with Breathitt...

Was him not being looked @ for a replacement for Holcomb when he retires the problem? I have heard that they have brought in Justin Haddix to mold him into being the replacement, is that true?

they are disappointing
and I don't know if they can get it turned around quick enough

Why am I not surprised someone from Belfry thinks of "hiring away" a coach in this manner ?!?!? ROFLMAO !!!!!!!! (there IS a precedent from 25 yrs. back, ya know  )

i live in breathitt and ive never seen a team in my life lack as much heart and pride as we do.i think we will eventualy get it turned around but its hard to say.i dont believe we will if we dont get some leadership and some players who want to play.i think channing neads to quit thinking about the vols so much and worry about his time at breathitt first.i had also heard before this game that the trent kid had been practicing at qb all week and when it came game time jade was playing i dont understand this at all if your going to practice the kid at qb all week y did he not play him???
09-19-2009, 05:23 PM
I'd like to see more of Trent in the backfield with Channing. He looked really good last night. With Prichard out with ACL that could be pretty potent with Fugate;Haddix and Trent all 3 in at once.Ritchie wasn't there last night.....did he quit again or was he sick???I know I saw Epperson throwing up before the game.

Not surprised by this score. Breathitt was just overrated. Nothing more, nothing less.
Congrats LCA on the win!
Best of luck to both of these teams the rest of the season!

Stardust Wrote:This is just amazing stuff. I'd really like to hear from the BC fans what they think the challenges are for BC this year.
I don't think I know what the problem is. They have a pathetic coach that instead of putting the better players from the sideline in so we can win plays other players because of pressure from some of the parents. There were 7 players last year on SMS team that made the Big Sandy Valley all conference team. 6 of those players are on the team this year and the other one is in 8th grade. He only gives 3 of those players any real playing time and he subs 2 others every now and then and the other one never sees the game except from the sideline. The one he never subs is supposed to be 2nd string center. He never subs him in for the starting Center to give him a break or if the starting center gets hurt. This player also can play any position on the offensive line. We also have 7 other freshman that are excellent players also but they never see the game either. That's the problem. Also they don't play as a team, he sends the Freshman home on Home games and keeps the rest of the team there with him and the parents have to bring the Freshman back a 5:00pm. This makes the Freshman feel as if they are not part of the team and puts animosity between the players. Breathitt will not win another game this year until MH starts making some changes in the lineup he has on the field. A good start would be switching out Richard Trent and Jade Haddix making Richard the starting quarterback and Jade a running back because clearly he is not a Quarterback just because his brother was a good QB doesn't make him one. I am not saying Jade isn't an awesome athelete I'm just saying he is no QB. :HitWall:

I assume you might be.....just maybe....a parent of a freshman....?????
Haddix is a good enough quarterback for what needs to be done in Breathitt which is manage the game and let the horse run. You have a starting lineup for a reason you don't just substitute the 2nd string center in. And to respond to your big idea about freshman and 8th graders come on don't be radiculous. This is one of by far the most uninformed and silly posts I have ever read on here......WOW :please:

We have all kinds of players on the sideline that have heart and pride Holcomb just won't put them in. Last year in the Big Sandy Valley Conference Championship (SMS) came in second place against Letcher Central and actually should have won but we got cheated out of it. Anyway the point is we were down by 10 points with about 1:30 minutes to go and we didn't quit we scored another TD right at the Buzzard and only lost by 4 points. The Freshman and JV players don't know the meaning of the word QUIT! They got the heart and the pride if the varsity had only half their heart they would never lose. They need to stop worrying whose going to be on the news or in the newspapers and start playing team ball and playing to win I'm sick of this crap! We want to win put the Freshman (JV) in see what they can do if the Varsity don't want to play! Stop being a wimp MH and take those boys out if they don't want to play you are embarrassing us and the boys on the team and I think it's pathetic just because you are afraid the JV will do better than the varsity and you can't admit you are wrong so just let us continue to get beat!!!! That's not a good coach at all!

You are ridiculous! I am not saying to start the Freshman and no I am not a parent! I am saying if the line are not doing their job then take them out and let someone else try and no Jade is not a good enough QB for Breathitt he can't even hold on to the ball! Get real! Obviously you haven't been watching our team play because you don't know Jack!

Why single out the center, have you specifically watched film of the first string center to know that he is the only one that needs to come out??....really I dare you to question my football knowledge. No he wouldnt be good enough for your typical Breathitt Co. sling the ball allover the field team, but i'm sorry this is not one of those teams you have a grown man playing running back. Feed him the ball with then compliment him with Haddix passing. GET REAL, i'm sure that Fugate and Haddix backups are better.

With Breathitt County and Rockcastle County losing, NEITHER team should be in the top 10! They both had a great chance to prove themselves and they both blew it. Both will be a factor in the post-season, you can quote me on it
09-19-2009, 10:42 PM
I do know that the D and team is missing JPC, leadership. I also agree that family pressures do play a lot at Breathitt, it does at other schools. Another problem, confidence, second guessing, play calls, being conservative, a new game plan needs to be put in place and try to make some changes.
I also agree that big sandy 2nd place finish is not going to make much of an impact against the schedule they are playing. It was rumored that MH would retire after this year after going back to the state, I don't see them doing that......

I find it hilarious how at the beginning of the season everyone was touting BC as the second coming but now that they're losing, some feel the need to blame the coach and question the kids' heart and desire? Come on guys...maybe this team was a just a bit overrated coming in to the season. Did some of you ever think about that? Some posters on here put some high and unfair expectations on this program and players' shoulders.
Just because BC made the state championship last year doesn't mean they should have the same quality team this year. I'm not sure of what they lost from that team, but losing kids from last year's team makes a big difference, regardless of what they returned in Haddix, Fugate, and Trent.
Let's let these kids be kids instead of putting all of these unfair pressures on them.

I am not saying the first string center is not any good. He is an awesome player. I am saying that they all need a break they cannot play all sides of the ball without a break. I am just saying that they have players on the sideline that are good enough to play and give the starters a breather. I am not even talking about 1st string center. You need to stop reading things in to what I am saying! I just don't want the kids to play hurt or exhausted when they don't have to that's all I am saying and maybe they would have more heart and more pride if they could get a breather every now and then. It's hard to play with heart when you are exhausted. I brought up those other players on the sideline because Holcomb acts like he doesn't have anyone to put in to give the starters a break and he does! Again you need to stop putting words in my mouth that I didn't say!!!!!!:ChairHit:

Breathitt is simply over-rated. I thought after the Mercer County game they would be untouchable. Boy was I wrong. Breathitt will finish the season 4-6 and they will exit the playoffs in the second round. Good luck bobcats and I hope you prove can prove me wrong.
