I limited this thread to 20 years just to keep things modern. Most of the posters on here would probably nominate themselves if I didn't limit it, :lmao:

Yeah thats true and most of the younger posters are ignorant of sports history. The ADHD generation. LOL. Only kidding.

I think Tewayne Willis and Al Holland Jr. should be in there

From Lawrence, Gerad Parker, Nick Meadows, Michael West, Phillip Ratliff, Fred Dean, Dontae Wright, Gerad Hostetter.

Looks like the post has changed from "the best players the last twenty years" to "the best players from the school I cheer for in the last twenty years." I do not like threads like these because they are dominated by biased people who only have knowledge of their own team.

Tim Couch is the best player in mountain football history. No one else is even in the same league.

Exactly.
When someone lists several players from their own school it's clear they have no clue about anyone else.

A list without Tim Couch would be football blasphemy.

The best kicker I ever saw was Dustin Wynn from Middlesboro. He could kick it a mile.
09-07-2009, 03:05 PM
best kicker? You all forgetting about Aaron Pettry from Raceland

Do you read real closely? I stated the best kicker I ever saw. I have never seen Raceland play.

Great list. I will add Marty Regan, Jason Leger, Shawn Robbins, Aaron Petrey, Dusty Miller, Justin Haddix, Parker from Lawrence county, Durrell White, Jeremy Caudill.
I can make a competitive list with these.

#1 Tim Couch
Others from my area
Its going to be almost impossible to list 20, as Belfry, Bell, Breathitt, Pikeville, P-burg, and Lawerence County have had a TON of talent in that time, not to mention the other schools.

Does anyone have any others or any comments? I thought this thread would be buzzng.

In no particular order...
Couch
Gerad Parker
Waylon Chapman
Phil Ratliff
Doug Howard
Based not on college play, but what I saw first hand on the field. Have seen a lot of terrific players (Jamerson, Fugate, David Jones, Shawn Grim, Dontae Wright, Michael West, Scott Russell, All Holland Jr.).
Those five guys changed the flow of every game I saw them compete in and were dominant figures in games that had many nice players on the field.
BTW, slagging someone's opinion after asking an open-ended poll question that way is pretty lame. Maybe he misunderstood - or maybe he believes those really were the best he saw and his role or situation in life hasn't given him a chance to get around and see all the nice players in surrounding areas.

I forgot about Shawn Grimm!

I know alot of players from other schools, Haddix was a great player. Rockcastle County's big lineman a few years ago was a good player. Grimm from Central was good, Brohm from Trinity.

Nobody mentioned John Rader. He was a beast!!
Also, Ollinger. Durrell was as stud.

Dustin Wynn was without a doubt one of the best kickers to come out of the Mountains.
The kid from Bell County two years ago was a fine kicker as well. If I'm not mistaken, he went to play at WKU.

From Prestonsburg both John Ortega and Seth Hyden. I don't think David Jones could be mentioned without Doug Howard. They both benefited from each other but I felt that Doug was the heart and soul of those championships and he was what made them go. I know Jones went to UK and all that , but in HIGH SCHOOL, which is what we are talking about, Howard was better.

Couch, Steve Bailey-Pikeville, David Jones and Doug Howard, Belfry. Fugate, Breathitt and Justin Haddix. You could sit here all night and think of great mountain talent. These are just a few of the best and better ones.
