^ Not a bad list. I like Shelby Valley around the 11 spot as well, their not what they were a year ago size-wise and that will hurt a bit.

Valley will struggle more than they did last season against the state's top talent without the size of Deven Adams and Kurby Tackett. I can just just about guarantee you that. Now against the 15th region and really just about any team in EKY, they shouldn't miss a beat.

Will SV play a difficult enough schedule to get them this high? Not sure of who they play, but it didn't seem to be as difficult as last years.

Other players returning are: Martin, Schuette, and Peurach . Salesman is a great coach, he will have Lexington Catholic right in the mix to compete in the 11th. Who knows who will be added when the season starts.

Thanks I knew Peurach from last year thats the big kid. I remember him
putting on a block party in the 11th region championship game against Sott Co......On a side note the reason I got Shelby Valley so high is because I feel like SV is the biggest lock for Rupp playing in the 15th. I think SV season will be simular to Elliott Co. last year. Putting up big numbers against weak comp... The Lexington and Louisville papers both use a BCS type of system when ranking teams. The margin of victorys that SV will run up will be key to keeping them in the top #10.

I really don't see how people can put Warren Central ahead of Christian Co. Christian Co returns everyone but Wilford to a team that beat WC by 10+ both times they met last year.
WC lost Lightfoot and Winn, who were arguably their two best players this past season. And it's also uncertain how much their starting pg, Shanklin, is going to play because of injuries that have plagued him since last year.
With Hickey, Lewis, Murden, Wilson, Mcduffen, and Kates all returning, Christian Co is loaded. They will be a top 5-7 team IMO...some of you are overlooking them big time.

They play in a Florida tournament that usually has some good competition, but it's really hard to gauge how good the out of state teams are. The only in state team that they play that should give us an idea of if they're legit or not, is Christian Co.

Pretty sure the Georgia team they're "supposedly" playing is going for their 5th straight state title.

Everyone is titled to their opinion. I have CC #9 and WC #10. You have them #5 and #7.You have GRC #4 I have them #8. I could go on , but I think you get my point. Each team is debatable, except for Holmes at #1 I feel.
Shanklin has played well in the Vegas tourney and showes no signs of his injury. Don't see this as a valid point. Are some of us overlooking them and rating them too low? Could be. Many missed out on Louisville Central last year. Who dreamed that Jessamine Co would be playing on Saturday morning? None of us have a crystal ball.

Yes. Walton, GA is going for their 5th straight title, if I'm not mistaken. I know this is a little off-subject, but does anyone know if Rice is still at playing for Walton, GA?

And that has nothing to do with whether or not they're a top 10 team IN STATE. It's too tough to gauge how good an out of state team is because you don't see them night in and night out and don't see the competition they face. Teams earn respect by playing and beating the top in state teams that are going to challenge them for a state championship. I wouldn't put too much stock in to wins/losses against out of state teams....at the end of the day, they mean absolutely nothing.

Fair enough. I never said anyone's opinion was wrong. I simply stated that I felt people were overlooking CC big time and informed them of what they return. Doesn't mean I'm right and doesn't mean anyone else is wrong. Like you said, it's just an opinion.
Glad to hear though that Shanklin is playing well out in Vegas. I agree all of us overlooked Central and nobody thought we'd see West Jessamine and Central playing on Saturday morning this past year. We also overlooked Eastern big time in the pre season. All they did was enter the the district championship 27-1 and the state tournament 30-2 after many of us pegged J'town as the hands down favorite..
Should be another exciting year of high school basketball.

I agree, I am sure we will be suprised by a few this year and disappointed by some.
Some young Freshman players to watch for is Hicks of Shelby Co/N Oldham. Heard he was going to N. Oldham. Also Prewitt of Montgomery Co. His mom played ball for UK. Both have been making some noise on the AAU curcit this summer.

Talking about Freshman, Campbell County Nate McGovney is considered one of the best incoming freshman in the state, and has acclaim at the national AAU level with his play for KY Elite

KY Elite is absolutely loaded with freshmen that will contribute some at the varsity level this coming season.

I'm very close to the McGovney situation. He started on the Frosh team last year and if not starting this season, will be the first off the bench. The Camels have considerable depth and speed at the Guard position with Losey, Cox, Kennedy, Griffin and McGovney, I just hope that Code gets away from the "Brossart" style of basketball and lets Brady Jolly and the Camels play the uptempo style that we have taught these kids to play since 3rd grade!

I agree. If Campbell Co wants to compete with the powers in the 10th region like GRC and Mason Co, Code needs to let those boys get out and run and push the ball..

As far as I know, Shelby Valley is not supposed to play Walton again, that was last year. The Georgia team they are apparently playing this year is Lithonia, and it will once again be in the Farm Bureau Classic.

Your list is different. I agree that Tates Creek will suprise alot of people this year. Wayne Breeden is a outstanding coach. Bowling Green, to be in my pre-season top ten hasn't proved themselves yet. Time will tell. Where do you see Ballard, Christian Co and Male?

I was wondering the same thing.
Ballard returns Jones and Chiles who are both D1 prospects.
Christian Co returns everyone but Wilford from last year's 2nd region championship team.
Male returns Hayes, Pillischafske (sp?), and Glenn.
I also agree about Bowling Green. Chane Behanan is everything he's hyped up to be, but he doesn't instantly make them a top 10 team. BG needs to prove themselves before being put ahead of teams like Ballard, Male, and Christian Co.

You are right Ballard and Male will be in the top 10. We may have alot of ties in the polls this year. We may have more tranfers moving in to top schools.
