South Floyd 72 - Pikeville 68 15th Region All A Final
#31
OK now my thoughts (The only one that matters) Great game played by the Raiders even though I was pulling for the Panthers. Did think the refs was horrible!!! Panthers played good, and I look for this tourn to give them confidence, and start seeing them play to their ability. Great game played my senior Wes Hall. And as far as the T's that was funny both teams did the same thing, but SF got the T's. I don't understand that... Great gae though great effort Panthers

Good luck at Richmond SF, make the 15th proud!!!
#32
I agree Wyatt, the PHS student section really turned out and stayed behind their team to the end. I am sure players feed of that. Keep it up your team is coming around. And what was it with the dude in PINK SHORTS?
#33
Great Game by the Raiders. I'm proud of the boys. They played hard and showed everyone that they do have what it takes to win and be a number one team. Good Luck in Richmond Boys!!!

This was a good game to watch but thats what happens when you put two teams together that really aren't all that good yet. They have potential but neither team is ready for tournement time. Still have alot to work on. I watched the game on wprg. I thought the fans from pikeville were fine. South Floyd on the other hand, showed no class at all. I think that south floyd has never showed class any time ive ever played them. We played them in football and little kids (I mean little, infants) were coming up to the players saying you suck and throwing food at them. If kids were doing that, imagine what the older ones do. O wait, We saw that tonight.

I hate it when people lose talk about the other team showing no class.
This is the same fan section that did that cute "hell no, Prestonsburg rip off yell" You make me sick with your childish complaints. You had your head handed to you on your own court. BURNS doesn't it.
everything is tip top when walker is shafting a young tiger team.

If I throw you a Bone I dont want to know if it taste good!
Be thankful,
Your team played well tonight they just didnt have anyone to help Walker. and whats up with the Kiss blowing by the pikeville players
I appear there may be a manhood issue to contend with. Perhaps a combo meal at Wendy's will line the young man out then again perhaps he is into laying rails. Often in a battle, things will be said, and actions resulting in emotions overwhelm people. last night I heard the fan section from Pikeville say several things that I would say reflected a movement of less than stellar statements. Is this a sign of class I would say no. so dont point finger until you take a long look down that upward turn nose of yours, that appear to be assisted by a set of studded blinders preventing you from seeing the most simple thing. The panthers lost, they were fixed and spayed by a better team. Class is admitting it. Lack of class is crying about it.
It was a great game, It was the first time i have ever seen a player blows kisses at another. and I hope the last time I see it.

Well turkish for a first post you had a great deal to say.
I will agree with one comment the losing team seems to always bring up class and that does seem like sour grapes which is a good strart on a bottle of wine.

Congrats to the Raiders, even though they have no chance in winning the whole thing I'd say they will show off the 15th pretty nicely in Richmond.
#39
Congratulations South Floyd and good luck at state.
If noone likes to talk about lack of class, then lets quit talking about it...

Good luck Raiders next week in Richmond. Coach Hall did a great job making adjustments and controling the game. As far as player actions...I know that coach Hall sat down a couple players during the tournament for technicals. He teaches class. There was a three man officialting crew, so how did all this no-class activity take place without penalty. Great job to coach Thomas and the Pikeville players, they played a great tournament. To bad some classless fans have to talk about 15-17 year old players because they won. However, they do hide behind a username...they will not put their real name at the end of a post.
#41
OMG, here we go again. Why is it ever time this little old team from SF does something good everyone screams no class, overratted, got lucky, or something negative. I know it hurts when David beats Goliath but get over it. People talk bad about each community here, but away from here eastern KY is not just Left Beaver it also includes the 3 P's {Paintsville, Pikeville, Prestonburg } So instead of posting bad things about this team or community remember they are representing this region in Richmond. So cheer them on and dont be a RAIDER HATER. GO RAIDERS.

[quote=""Showtyme""]First off svcatfan, Pikeville got there by play very good basketball and beating a couple of good teams and very much deserved to be in the Finals and played an outstanding game tonight.

I didn't say they didn't deserve to be there, but I think a lot of people were surprised.

I agree with the little class....I mena as it was mentioned earier #10 was talking towards the end of the game and got the technical like he should have and then a player flipping off the pikeville section. But the one that I think was NO class was when the big man got fouled on a rebound and while he was walking down the court turned to the Pikeville section and held out both sides of his jersey to make sure everyone could read it ....I mean this might not have been that bad had he done it at the other end of the floor but he was in front of all the parents and adults...not anywhere near the Sutdent section..

Look out Richmond, here comes Eastern KY!!!!!!!!!!

If you guys get mad over taunting and trash talking then obviously you have never played team sports. If you played then you would know that sports is nothing but taunting and trash talking. That is just the game. It's fun to do and everyone does it. It's a smart way to play. If you trash talk and get in the other teams head then it causes the other team to worry about the trash talking and not the game. It's smart playing. Just like Pikeville taunting SF and the SF player getting mad and getting the T. It got in his head and could have cost them the game in a closer ball game. These things happen all the time. It's not poor class by either side, it's just the game. Congrats to the Raiders on the victory and good luck down there. Also good showing by the Panthers. They are really getting it together. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.

I agree too bdf4l....but that's supposed to stay on the court....not start motioning to the fans......

I've got more replys but can't do them now....I'll have to get back to ya Smile

Just a little about the no class, I can't believe this is coming from Pather faithful, the same fans that are warned before the games that throwing objects on the floor will result in a T. I rememer a time that PHS threw things on the floor such as toilet paper, ping pong balls, and other things. Also I remember in Region Tourny play at SV when PHS students wore old miner clothing and old ripped and torn dresses to make fun of SF and eastern KY. This was in the final four in the region. By the way SF won Regional Title. PHS also done that in a game against SV earlier that year. By the way pathers were do you think your money come from, EASTERN KY COAL MINERS. Just ask you family where the boom town was in the 60' and 70's and if the have any memory they will tell you WHEELWRIGHT and some of the other now old Small COAL TOWNS. So to me, YOU no NOTHING of CLASS and have no right to say to anyone elese in the 15th they have no class.

Taunting and trash talking are illegal in HS sports...whatever happened to outplaying the other team to get in their head? I guess that takes a little more work than just learning some cute four letter words or learning to show your jersey(watching too much ESPN)or learning to fly the finger to the fans(is that a freshman or sophomore level class?)
Just play the game! I think a couple of SF players had nice games but I won't even speak to that because of their non-playing actions.

It takes a little more work than blowing kisses too! Both teams taunted, not just one! Anyway, Congrats Raiders, you earned it!! Trash talking is part of the game too, I agree with you BCF4L!! Congrats Raiders!!!!!!!!

I agree that it shouldn't be stretched as far as making gestures to the crowd. I don't think that is right. Too many young kids and elder fans watching the game for someone to do that. But as far as taunting on the court, there's nothing wrong with that as long as it isn't heard by the fans in the stands. I find it quite entertaining when you see two players from opposite teams running down the court jawing at one another. Makes the game interesting. I know I wasn't a great player when I played, but trash talking is something that you do. I know I've done it to SF, SV, SC, and many other 15th region teams. It's just fun getting into a players head. Now the grabbing of the jersey, taunting the crowd is just sensless and cocky if you ask me. IMO there's a difference between entertainment and cockiness. I hate cocky players, but what went on last night sounds like just great entertainment that makes fans want to come back and watch another game.

I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE!!!
A HS kid flipping off 1500fans is not something I want my kids to see and NO, trash talking is not part of sports, at least not until the playing field all of a sudden became "da hood". TRUE athletes and REAL players don't need to trash talk...their play says it all.

Second Beef sounds like sour grapes to me. Both teams acted in a manner at times that were not that of champions but if you look at it all but one incident involved freshman and sophomores from both teams. Winning/Losing with pride and respect will come in time after some lessons from the coaches. The big man showed his jersey name at half court turning to the pep section so not sure what you meant by in front of parents.

Shertleff, Parish and Walls played great games. I agree Parish was allowed to camp in the lane but he was getting away with it and can't blame if for doing it. I thought at times the Honaker kid #2 hurt PHS as his shot selection was bad, shooting 2 airballs from 3 a crucial points of the game, but he is a freshman.

Both teams fought hard and SF just played a little better. Both teams shot FT well, just SF found a way to win. Thought R. Johnson played great and hit big free throws again tonight and Stanley really got the Raiders going tonight. Wes Hall played tonight like he is capable of and what a lift he was to his team. Looks like both teams are starting to get it together and look for both to make a lot of noise the rest of the way. Good luck to the Panthers and Raiders. SF keep it up in All A.

Just something I notice toward the end of the game when both teams were calling Tos, Pikeville band kept playing a song that the SF fans had a cheer to and the song got them up and they were very loud and sure it help SF players and PHS players had to be effected as the benches were on the SF fan side of the floor. The only time the PHS entire crowd got up was for the school song, thought band director and members should have noticed and not played the song that got SF fans involved. Play your school song.
I agree with all of your posts in this tread ST....good breakdown...and I noticed that SF was also doing "HEY" with our band and I tought that it might be bad for us to be playing it too.

I thought the game was played very well by both teams. Neither team got more good than bad or bad than good calls from the refs all night. I didnt see the whole T situation, but the one thing I noticed was I thought SF's #24 is a great shooter, but he doesnt have to keep the hand up so everyone notices him. I personally thought he acted a little too cocky to me, and when he was fouled a couple of times he made sure to smile big and shake his hand and head in the Pikeville players' faces. Didnt like the sportsmanship of that... anyways... i thought both teams played well.

Whoever said it earlier-- Pikeville DIDNT get their heads handed to them last night... they played extremely close and good with this team the whole way. They have really improved!
AND... HAIL PIKEVILLE has always been Pikeville's!

I noticed this too....when they rushed the court...all 8 of them....there were little kids...well probably around 10 talking trash to our players....now that was a little overboard but it happened....with the mood that our players were in I'm glad that I didn't see one of them deck the small guys....If you rush the court (Which I think is all fine and dandy)...you need to stay away from the losing team.

Are you sure that we took that cheer from youall??

And Walker helping us?!?!....even if that is so....Mike Hall is totally against Pikeville (Still don't think that he should be refing since he is a 15th region coach:? ) so if you want to look at the refs and say that they were bias then I break it down like this...

Walker -- Pikeville (or so you say)
Hall -- South Floyd
Jimmie (Newsom I think) -- Equal

So no refs in this one...they let the boys play IMO and didn't affect the outcome of then game!
