This kid is the real deal id like to see where he ends up. Anyone know anything about it?

Don't think he has any D-1 offers. Size and lack of being able to throw the deep ball keep him in 1AA or Naia school. Wherever he lands I wish him luck. Good HS player and good leader.

Lewis has a better arm than Justin Haddix from Breathitt did and Justin played at Western. I could see Zach playing wherever he wants.

i heard that EKU is in the hunt. not sure he can play at Div -1
11-24-2008, 03:18 PM
I thought he had already signed with Eastern?

I have not heard but he has the leadership and the arm to play in any division. D1 schools should take serious looks at him. Its rare but alot of 18 year olds can grow a couple more inches after prep. In no way did it ever hinder him though.

They are.. they are in the Football Championship Division or whatever the heck they call the old Division 1-AA.
As for Haddix,,,, Lewis may have a better arm, but he doesn't nearly have the mobility and athleticism as Haddix. Haddix was used to play some option at WKU, Lewis would not be able to play in an option syle offense.

Nothing confirmed yet.. the idea has been tossed around.. especially since Western is making the transition, but as of now nothing is in the works.

This kid is 6ft 2inches tall. Thats not small and about perfect for a quarterback. I dont care who you are if u can break Tim couchs record then you have to be a good and a very possbile d-1 player.

I have heard Cincinnati and South Florida are giving him some serious attention
11-24-2008, 10:40 PM
i think he plays for clay county, could be wrong
11-25-2008, 12:26 AM
Yeah he plays for Clay
11-25-2008, 02:03 AM
I'd be surprised if he is any taller than 6-foot. He also isn't that mobile. I don't see him playing Division I.
11-25-2008, 10:45 AM
He is not 6' 2". And the comparision to Haddix is not apples to apples. As someone mentioned Haddix played in an option offense at Western. Lewis is not a running threat at all so comparing them is not a equal comparision.

Haddix wouldnt of been any better than Zach if Haddix would of played at Clay County this year. Haddix had talent galore around him. Lewis can play for anybody if given the chance. You dont have to be 6'5 to play QB. Get serious. Its whats inside you that matters and you have to make good decisions with the football. There are not many college teams left that run the option anyways. Most teams sit back and throw throw throw. And the best dang QB in the MOUNTAINS is CHARLIE BANKS from Letcher County Central. He is a WARRIOR!

cmon now

I watched Lewis in a camp last summer and he blended in with everybody else, and his arm is not that stron! The best thing for him is his accruacy. Everybody can't go D1!!!

You do realize that the Spread and Read option is the most popular offense in college football and is even getting used in the NFL as the "Wildcat" formation?
I am willing to bet over 1/4 of college teams use an option offense as their base offense, and probably 3/4 of college teams have an option package they use.
The only QB's who are becoming obsolete are those which have no mobility and sit in the shotgun like a statue. Even offenses still utilizing the spred attack have QB's with pretty good monility like Graham Harrell, Colt McCoy, etc

Im sure every team does have the Option package but you dont see to many QB's running the ball. Tim Tebow and Randall Cobb run a lot. I watched Oklahoma and Texas Tech this past weekend and their QB's never ran the ball. I dont see Mike Hartline running the football when he gets reps for UK. Some QB's can run well and some cant. I do however prefer a QB that can run and throw both very well. You just dont see that very often. Lewis is a good shotgun formation QB, he may be able to scramble a little here and there and pick up some yardage.
The little QB at South Laurel is very good as well. He is as accurate as I have ever saw. Bowling is his name I think. He's about 5'11 tops. He could probably play D1. He is very fast though.

Haddix was an absolute beast of offense and defense for Breathitt. In my opinion, he has been the best QB in the mountains in the last 10 years. I base my opinion on what he did for his team on offense and defense. He went into Western and started as a freshman. Not many kids can do that.

He couldnt wear Al Holland Jr.s jockstrap. Holland is a beast. OVC player of the year last year. I think that says a lot. Almost won the National Title in D1 AA.

It's amazing that people get on here and post things not even close to the truth. Here are the facts coming from a family member of Zach's that I live close to.
He has recieved 8 offers so far, with 4- 5 of those being D-1. Without giving out to much information out of respect for the family, I would guess that some of the schools would include Marshall, Kent, Ohio, EKU, S. Fla, Middle Tenn and Cinn has jumped in the mix hard as of late. Uk has offered a greyshirt but I don't think he is interested. There are 2 other schools offered, one in Georgia and one in SC. For those who says he's not mobile, he ran a 4.65 at UK and Marshall and Kent sent word that they love his mobility. I would say he is at the 4.7 range which is good for a qb. I would say he didn't run that much because if he got hurt, Clay's season would be in trouble.
The funniest post seem to be arm strength. According to the guy I talked to, he said arm strength and knowledge seemed to be the thing that the college coaches liked the most about him. I know for sure that his arm is second to none in this state. Nowhere he has been has his arm been questioned.
Going D-1 doesn't seem to be a big deal to Lewis. He seems to be looking for a school where he can play early, and play a comfortable style and close to home.
One more thing. The guy told me that Zach has been measured more that anyone can imagine. He has never been measured under 6'1 1/2. He exact words is barefooted he is a "smidge" under 6'2. He weighs around 215.
Please, I hope this post clears up alot for the interested fans out there. Everyone has opinions and that's fine to post them. Just don't post heresay or untruths. These kids read this stuff as well. If a mountain player goes to college and gets it paid for, what more could you ask for.

I posted wrong info and couldn't edit it quick enough. Lewis has 8 teams involved the most, not 8 offers. He has 2 or 3 D-1 offers and 3 D-II offers.
Sorry for wrong info earlier.

I "myself" watched him run at the EKU Senior Camp and it wasnt no 4.65. Im not saying he isnt a good player or anything. But he didnt run a 4.65!!
