Former Eagle now a Tiger?

With all the confusion at JC I would say it's a good move for Murray.

He went to the team camp?

Yep!

Has he officially transfered? This may cause problems if he isn't. I am not for sure, but I would check it out if I were Justin's parents.

I feel this is a good move for him also. He can really help the Tigers. If he plays like he did in the District tourney last year, he will be fine.

Good luck Justin!

His parents have already bought a house in the city limits, although they have not taken possession yet. They bought JR Vanhooses house.

What a break! Is it a one year lease or loan? LOL
I think you have to officially withdraw from the school before you can participate. I may be wrong, but owning a house in the district won't make it official. Please have them withdraw him if he isn't! He is 2 good of a player 2 lose his senior year!

You dont have to officially withdraw for any summer ball. A player can play for as many teams as they want in the summer. I will admit though, it sounds kinda fishy for a basketball players mom to get a house off the basketball assistant coach.

We had the house up for sale by an real estate agent, so it is not that fishy. I didn't care who bought it, as long as someone did!!

Agree with you J.R. and good luck to you in what ever (where you coach) you decide to do.

I think Murray will fit in just fine at Paintsville.

You might be right but I want to see him after BMR has just eaten his face off and Bundy and Slone are cussing him for taking their shots.....while in the meantime the JC boys are having a ball playing for a player's coach like McKenzie, Williams, or Perry!!!! Now that will be funny!!
#72
^^I think you mean VanHoose not Bundy. Bundy doesn't shoot the ball a whole lot compared to Slone and VanHoose. I know it is nothing in the JC's players control but it cannot be too much fun for the Seniors at JC that are going to be playing for their 3rd coach in 4 years. I feel sorry for kids that go through this.

Yes, but the JC players don't appear to be half as miserable as the Paintsville players that have played for the same coach for the last 4 years!!!!

No, I meant BUNDY. He is much worse than Vanhoose for letting his frustration show on the floor!!

Or I guess the same could be said about how miserable the players at Paintsville have been over past 24 seasons with the same coach. I played for Coach Runyon and I know he is just about as hard as anyone to please, same was with Coach Adkins, but once you finish your career you'll look back on it as time well spent because you take so many valuable life lessons away from the experience and he I know if I ever need someone to talk to or help with anything he would always be there for myself or any of his past players. He works the same way anyone else would, you show him respect and in time you'll gain his.

As for Bundy, yes he is probably one of the most emotional players in the 15th region. He has his bright spots and dull moments just like everyone else. But idk how in the hell being a frustrated player has anything to do with him supposidly taking more shots than Lanodn or JD. At the All-A state Bundy wasn't the one jacking up shots when he hadn't hit nothing all night, it was Landon and JD, Blake was 6-8 on the night missing his first shot in the 4th. JD was somewhere around 4-19 missing his first 12 shots and 6 of them being 3's. I'm not disagreeing about Bundy being emotional, but to say he takes more shots than those two is just plain idiotic.

Where did this frustration crap come from. You said, "I want to see him after BMR has just eaten his face off and Bundy and Slone are cussing him for taking their shots." The point GRIZZ was makin was that Bundy don't take many shots, VanHoose and Slone take em all. Then you said, "No, I meant BUNDY. He is much worse than Vanhoose for letting his frustration show on the floor!!" What does frustration and who takes the most shots have to do with one another.

First paragraph, GREAT POST and SO VERY TRUE about coach.
Second paragraph, GREAT POST and VERY GOOD POINTS.

That is what the big mystery seems to be with this Paintsville team. Why haven't they bought in like those in the past 24 years????? They have just as much talent as some of the Regional title teams but haven't even sniffed a region title. I am just saying that they have many, many problems and bringing in another questionable attitude like Murray will not solve anything. They couldn't even finish the summer!!!! And don't give me the injury crap, they could have still finished the summer with young players. That is when teams get better. Paiintsville is not what it used to be. They are in trouble!!
#78
Maybe this Tiger team doesn't want it as bad as teams in the past and hope the name across the jersey that players before them have established will take them somewhere. They are the ones that play the game, Coach Runyon can't play it for them. If they decide to listen and take aim at the brighter picture instead of paper stats then they will be fine. But if they are happy with pretty good seasons and a lack-luster post season then thats fine too. Its like this, if they want to go to Rupp then they know what they have to do, if they enjoy watching other teams from the Region go dancing well then they can continue doing the same thing they've done the past 3 seasons. Its all up to them, its their team and if they want to go down as a flounder more power to them.

The move would be good for JC and the player and his family. I agree with the eariler comment. Whose place could he take a P'Ville? If he did this would really cause some problems. I think the kid will spend alot of time around the door in the corner if he goes to Pville (bench).

Paintsville did lose a starter from last year and IMO, Murray would be the frontrunner for it.

I saw Bundy's coaches report from Bluechips. Scoring was 1-4 with 4 being excellent.
Off the ball D, on the ball D, inside shooting, outside shooting, rebounding, hustle, and a couple others were all 4's!!! Passing and dribbling were rated as 10's!!!! This comeing from a college coach that said on the report that Blake was a true joy to coach, and that he had as much ability as anyone he had seen.

You know, I normally don't waste my time with things like this, but I'm so sick of reading false statements and things that only people that are stuck in their teen years could write.
I personally know the Murray family and happen to think they are fine people, but even the best of people will only take so much when it comes their family. I could tell you things that have happened under coach Starns watch that would make alot of you set back and rethink some of things you've said, trust me , if I were his dad I would have acted alot sooner and with more action than he did. I 'm only writing this because the whole family has been give a bum rap on this site .
They are moving mainly because of health issues with Mr Murray and I know you say , oh yeah right, but it's true and I'm sure if he wanted to stoop to your guys level he could prove it, I know he has lost his temper at times, but if you new the whole story , you probably would have done worse. and besides that, 3 coaches in four years, please , you want a child to act more grownup than the man that coached him, Starns isn't the great guy you think he is, trust me, applying for 2 jobs in his first season. and your coming down on a child for wanting to get somewhere that is if nothing else stable, give me a break, better yet , give them a break and put the blame where it belongs.
i think by the end of next season you guys will take some backwater, and this crap about the house they bought, please, they bought it though a real estate agent and had no idea who it even belonged to before that, they have there farm up for sale as well, through an agent.
I know Lon personally, and you guys have the whole family wrong, and no he didn't pay me to write this , in fact he says he's never been on this site , he has businesses to run and not time for child's play, and he teaches his boys not let other people control there destiny. most of you are so afraid of change your probably stuck in the same place you started years ago.
one other unknown fact, Lon did have enough class to call a meeting with the coach and asst. coach's, along with the AD and say he was sorry for his actions on the side lines and that he was out of line.
That in its self shows more class than some of you guys and certainly more than coach Starns , why do you judge other people for things you know nothing about.
I wish them good luck and the best at Paintsville, you guys that have bashed them , don't know them, and thats to bad, you know the old saying , don't judge someone until you've walk in their shoes, that truly applies in this case.

How bad off is he? I hate to hear this! I understand if he doesn't want his personal stuff aired on this site, but I want to wish him the Best! Hoping all is well.

I just wanted to add a couple of thing that I forgot in my first post, and say that I know everyone that uses this site is not as narrow minded as some.
Theres been talk on here about how justin murray is selfish, self centers and cares for no one but himself, I"ve watched this kid grow up and yes he's a teen, but some of you have mistaken passion and love for the game , and outward emotion for disrespect and rebelion, this is not the case, coach starn had no personal relation with any of his players from what could see, and never really new any of them as real kids, so I guess you starns believers come by it honest, he only used jchs as his next stepping stone,..... now theres you something to be upset with, but for reason you rather slander a child.....
Go ask Joe Taylor , whom I have the up most respect for, which player has made trip after trip to see him in the hospital and at home , while he has been very ill, or ask the Blankenship family , that just lost their father who was the child that stayed with james, their son during the loss of his father, and carried food in for them , spent every minute at the funneral home due to his compassion and tender heart, and cried like a baby with james at the funneral, ( which starns did not attend I was told ) all of these things , Justin did on his own, and these are just thing i personally know of, I'm sure theres more.
This kid has more class than some of you will ever dream of, I'm sure he isn't perfect , nor am I , but he,s certainly not all the things some of you have made him out to be, and I think it's a shame that grown people would damage a child that you don't even really know. So I agree, the apple really didn't fall far from the tree. and I would be proud if he were my son !!!!!!!
