Perry County Central vs Boyle County. Thoughts?

I'll have to think long and hard about this one. May end up having to toss a coin to decide.

I don't think I'm going to plan my busy social calendar around watching this one.

Just hope Boyle don’t get any injuries

I truly hate that PCC has to play them 1st round. Perry has some great athletes but we all know it will be basketball season next week for them . Boyle will have another State appearance this year
#6
This is a simple reason why the 4 team playoff format is unnecessary. Perry will just be trying to survive and it will be hunting season Boyle. I don’t like this matchup at all. Champs and Runners up are all that should be playing. I could see the 3rd and 4th place teams maybe playing a Bowl type game at the end of the year. The 4 from Perry’s district playing the 4 from Boyles and vice Versa with the 3 seeds. Just makes football season last an unnecessary week.

Other than 6A and 1A, all but 4 teams from every class makes playoffs. When you do the math, right at 90 percent of teams in KHSAA makes the football playoff. In contrast, Texas allows 40 percent of their programs to make the playoff. Now populations are drastically different, i understand. But we have no incentive to win, you will make the playoffs. And there’s this pointless week where there will be 30 plus running clocks. Everyone screams 4 classes, i say 5.

Out of the 218 teams currently enrolled for KHSAA football playoffs and district play, 32 teams are in 6A and 1A and the other classes have random numbers. If we followed the same format, BUT MADE IT WHERE YOU HAD TO WIN ONE DISTRICT GAME TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. It would be 5 classes

40 in 6A and 1A
anywhere from 44-48 in the other classes
32 team playoff so the KHSAA still gets paid
at least 1 district win to make the playoffs!! Sometimes two in the other classes.
Promotes competition, and the classes would be DEEP without drastic differences in school populations.

But guess what, we don’t get to make decisions. Every single decision in this state is made on the idea of how much money the KHSAA can bring in. “Pockets full and clocks running“

I said it last year; I’ll say it again!  If KHSAA WILL NOT CHANGE PLAYOFF FORMAT, the four seeds should help them out by simply forfeiting these joke “playoff” matchups!

Someone just has to find a way where competition is at the forefront, but the people at the top make their cash. Boyle is the exception to this as they might running clock everyone for a few weeks, but a team that can’t win a district game should not be given a playoff game. I would say in any sport. Football is so wild to, cause in the other sports you play your district first in the post season. If you can’t win in your district you play them again in the playoffs. Maybe there’s no good answer, but I know Tennessee, texas, georgia, alabama and other schools in the south have it figured out.

How many district that the 1 seed, 2 seed, and 3 seed will win the first round. There even might be 1 or 2 that all 4 seeds will win the round.

Perry might keep it within 50 if Boyle plays third string the whole game. Looking ahead to next year and the future how does everyone see Perry? Any changes?

Surprised? They have let coaches go here lately for less.  Baseball and girls basketball comes to mind.  What’s good for one sport should be the same for others

Dixon is a great coach but just ask around you will know what I’m talking bout.

Dixon is definitely a legend coaching but I could see him going out and getting a new OC and DC.

Will if not mistaken Dixon calls defense and I don’t see him getting Rid of Fugate. They been together for long time.

I find when it comes to Perry County sports, what gets in their way most time is the hands that try to control on the outside. Too many "big wigs" want too much say on how things go. Don't think it is a coincidence that a couple of the same "big wig" parents have players on the football team that also play baseball and look at the issues that came out of that.

Perry seems to be a terrible place to be a part of for sports. It’s dog eat dog apparently and seems to continue to get worse. The football situation really seems to be at an all time low. Girls basketball had a coaching change, so did baseball. I think girls soccer and maybe the boys too. Sometimes a coaching change is good for everyone. May be just what’s needed for the football program.

I’d be very surprised. It’s needed in my opinion but also won’t ever happen. When Dixon decides it’s time is when he’ll give it up. Other than that no changes. Same results next year are coming. Same sorry defensive schemes and same with offense. Never utilize what weapons they’ve got and become pretty stagnant early in the season.

Did they ever decide on a new OC?

As long as dixon has the reigns fugate will have the offense.

Fugate isn’t the issue.  The offense was fine last year and years before, just didn’t have enough weapons this year, they had to play with young kids, they’ll be fine ..

Fugate should apply for the Pineville job. His days calling plays at Perry are over. He’s rode Dixon coattail long enough.

Exactly right. We’ve saw how that plays out too.

They’ll be fine for sure. That’s if you always want a first round playoff loss. Only graduate somewhere around 15 seniors. Sounds fairly young though.

As long as Perry is in the district they are in the best they can hope for is a 2nd round game. Depending on their seeding they will be seeing Boyle/Corbin first or second round. Even if Dixon leaves or replace coaches who wants to go there? I mean I am sure Neace would but he played there. Nobody in their right mind would want to go there unless they are trying to start out. Now if Perry gets away from Corbin/Boyle/Johnson then maybe.
