Lawrence County scrimmage
#1
Lawrence County, Martin County, Paintsville, Russell, and Letcher County Central scrimmaged in a round robin 10 plays, 25 minutes scrimmage last night.

Bulldogs looked good defensively, played a lot of guys and only gave up 2 touchdowns all evening. They clearly have plenty of weapons offensively and the quarterback looked good. It would have been interesting to see how he would have looked if they would have let them run.

Russell looked improved on both sides.

Letcher had a big stud at fullback and they were athletic and well coached.

Martin County had a good size quarterback and he threw it well. Their defense gave up a lot though!

Paintsville looked the worst out of the bunch. #3 for them is young but has a lot of wiggle and jukes, has good speed.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately i couldnt make it to this one..I'd say this team will fall right into place for the year!! Possibly they are saving the run game for another week?
Its gonna be nice to watch them establish the passing throughout the season!! See ya next week

I thought 28 for Martin Co. looked soild.  Kid is a hammer. One of the best looking kids I saw there

I don’t remember 28 but he might have been. I remember 43 for Letcher Central, 4, 6, and 21 for Lawrence, qb for Martin, 3 for Paintsville

No. 5 for Lawrence looked really good. I also like the potential of the qb.

He was their Middle Line backer. He was a transfer from Paintsville.  Kid hit everything

Is Paintsville going to be bad or really really bad? Seems like they are in the perfect storm.

Hard to tell from the scrimmage. It looked like we were playing a lot of the backups. I'm sure everyone else was doing the same. Based on how we did against them, I'd rank them last out of the 4 teams - 1. LCC 2. Russell 3. Martin 4. Paintsville.

They might have, what was the TD count in both of those? I was more focused on LC and LCC but did notice some good things from both Martin and Russell.

I thought Lawrence and Letcher looked like the 2 best teams.  Lawrence probably got the best of that matchup.  Letcher bigger and little more physical, but Lawrence significantly faster and more athletic.  Lawrence played some young guys mixed with a few starters on defense most of the night, and still played well.  The 1st D looked good in the few plays they were in together.  Offense showed some potential.  Most of the problems were missed assignments on the o-line, which (I hope) are fixable.  Decent night for Lawrence.

Russell and Martin looked to be evenly matched, and a notch or 2 below LC and LCC.  Martin needs to play with more discipline and protect the football better.

Paintsville is . . . not good, and there doesn't appear to be much talent waiting in the wings.

That's a pretty good evaluation of both teams!! I'd say the grid this week against east carter will tell a good tell.
Both Lawrence and EC did well last year and could possibly be a great matchup in the region later this year
