Shelby Valley is at the top until they’re dethroned in my opinion. They lost some great talent to graduation but they have another great crop of kids coming into playing time now.

Betsy Layne has hit the transfer portal and filled a lot of the wholes that graduation left. Getting two starters from Prestonsburg should help sure up those graduation loses with McCutchen, Parsons and Allen all returning.

Pike Central could be a surprise. Last year they were a competent coaching staff away from having something. Coach Grizzle may offer that for them.

East Ridge is well, East Ridge.

If Betsy Layne is going to get a district title, it better be this year! With the new alignment coming into play, it's going to be hard to compete with Belfry, year in and year out. Jarrell has a great opportunity this year to get it done, and it could very well be a big year on the hill. The Bobcats have some good up and coming talent, but the biggest question will be will they be able to keep it on the hill?

They are getting consolidated anyway is the plan, so they have to live for today

Who is "they" and what would the purpose be in new facilities at Betsy Layne if they're gonna send their kids across 680?

I’ve heard of them closing John M Stumbo elementary and sending kids to BLES and SFES but nothing about the high schools.

I absolutely don't know it for a fact, but I have heard it from teachers at both schools, nobody likes the idea including me, hope it's just talk.

Does Floyd Central even have the ability to take on 500 more students even if they wanted to? No way I can see a scenario where they merge the schools

They built Floyd Central way to big for the amount of students that was actually enrolled there.

No way Betsy Layne and Floyd Central consolidate within the next several years. I’m sure it’ll happen, but it’ll be down the road.

I’m basing this off of building a brand new baseball field and gymnasium at Betsy Layne. Although, they did spend A LOT of money to build South Floyd a nice football stadium and track just to up and build Floyd Central and render that facility rarely used. So who knows.

Shelby Valley is going to be the favorite. I don't think they'll put the ball in the air quite as much as they did with Russ Osborne, but they're going to be hard to stop on the ground. Adding Combs from Letcher Central is a HUGE deal that's basically gone unnoticed by most. Brady Johnson, Peyton Combs, Sturgill and Craft will be tough to deal with.

Betsy Layne is still going to be good, they lost some key pieces, but Parsons, McCutcheon, and Allen are 3 very good football players that can move the ball down field. Just have to keep those guys healthy.

Pike Central is going to be the darkhorse. The wheels fell off late last season, but they had a solid defense for much of the season and a quality offensive line. I believe they return most of their team from last season also. If Knuckles can prove to be a passing threat, Pike Central will be hard to handle in the region.

East Ridge graduated A LOT off a team that struggled last season. I think they'll have a some nice young players, but it could be a long season for the Warriors.

I’m excited for this district battle. The guy Pburg should have went after will have Betsy Layne in a position to do something truly special for that school.

Betsy Layne. This one is a doozy. I believe they will be third in the district for the sole fact of loss of talent. Jarrell won’t be able to stack up a team like he had last year. Those were some of the most reliable players i’ve seen in years. As a team filled mostly with super seniors they’ve been through it all. From going 2-9 and being beat 77-0 by Raceland. To turning the school around and winning the first playoff win in history and best record. Not to mention being undefeated at home. They lose the likes of Nick Thacker who was a star studded offensive lineman the last two years. He was ranked 34th lineman in the state and was a two time all state team. They also lose Williams. This one hits hard as he was perfect for the Bobcats. 6/6 200+ yards and two touchdowns thrown. That’s just his passing stats. He wracked up 600+ receiving and 500+ on the ground. He was a defensive stud to with five interceptions. They return the likes of their running back,  Braxton Blackburn, and the Maynard’s. With the transfer of Weston Harris I don’t see it being an addition. Jarrell will waste talent like he’s done in previous years. He wasted Music. He’s a victim of Johnathon “Red” Parsons strings. He abides to his every rule and saying. He’s just another puppet to the pupa tier. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see this team pass .500 this season.

Absolute clueless post. Wasting Musics talent? Reese rushed for 1900+ yards with 23 TDs and 179 yards per game his senior year and got a full-ride scholarship to Union college.

Possibly one of the worst takes ever posted on BGR

This is one of the wildest takes I have ever heard. If you think they will be third due to loss of talent, I guess Russ Osborne, Isaiah Adkins, Brady Bentley and Stevie Todd Layne are still playing for SV and ER this coming year. Losing Thacker and Williams are obviously a loss but there are options there and everyone has to replace graduating seniors each year. I don't know that Jarrell has wasted a bit of talent as he has gotten a lot of production out of several guys over the last few years from Chase Mims to Reese Music to Andrew McCutcheon and everywhere in between. I don't care what else happened but having criticism after leading Betsy Layne to a 10-2 record and a playoff win is simply wild to me lol

With my knowledge of this team you will be truly surprised with what I'm about to say. After the demise of the McCoy era at BL it truly left a sour taste in many Bobcat fans mouths. There was a new reign beginning. The new hire had kahoots within the system. He was the young hotshot. The new kid on the block. With a couple of county championships under his belt he would take the head job at the high school. The Jarredd Jarrell era had begun. What came with this hire was questionable. The strings had been wrapped around the finger of Johnathon "Red" Parsons. He found his new puppet to take advantage of. One person affected by the Jarrell era was coach Jamie Robinette. The middle school fired him for Jarrell after Jamie won them their first county title in years. Jamie was also McCoy's assistant and after the demise of McCoy Robinette would be let go for the second time. That's the first person to be affected. Jarrell's coaching and everyday attitude affects the staff and players. It don't matter though. When everything is all puppeted by a corrupt system. All through one man. Jarrell has had many altercations with coaches and has had a total of four coaches quit in three years. That's astonishing numbers for a COTY candidate. He once had a altercation with Morgan Co coach and tried to fight him in the parking lot after the game. He than after said game got on a Facebook live streamed by Bobcat Sports Live. The quotes from Jarrell were uncanny and ridiculous. He said such as " Well that's how us Mudcreek boys do it." "If he wanted to I'd truly let him know what he's messing with." This is utterly insane behavior from a supposed role model. He had a borderline physical altercation with his defensive coordinator in his first year. The worst part was it was in-front of the players. He had a coach walk off the sidelines in the middle of a tight district game because he let a player walk all over him. He had a legacy player as his offensive coordinator leave for Pikeville because of the strings being pulled behind the scenes. I don't see Jarrell being at BL much longer. He will be another coach who had a good couple years then fizzles out and bounces from bad team to bad team. He can't contain his personal endeavors away from the game. He can't get away from the strings of Red without paying a price and being blackballed. He only plays who he is told to not what benefits the team. This isn't Betsy Layne anymore its the Red Parsons show.

Buddy this sounds like the beginning of a comic book villains origin story.

Jarrell is a stud of a coach, his players play hard for him and he’s had the most success in Betsy Layne history. He might be running off people who are limiting the program.

Red was quite the coach in his day. Had Betsy Layne very competitive for a while.

Hamilton left because his wife has been at Pikeville for 4 years and that's where his daughter will be going to school as well. No one ran him off and he and Jarrell still talk to this day.

I noticed how that’s the only thing you acknowledged. Not the puppet master, or the borderline psychopathic behaviors.
