Brenden Anthony is an excellent football player. 100 percent agree with the Mike Alstott comparison; I am a huge fan of bigger backs that are punishing runners like Alstott, Earl Campbell, LeGarrette Blount, etc.
Not related to individual athletes, but if Pikeville is looking for a game, I know Dayton Christian (Miamisburg, Ohio) is looking for a game. Their opponent for this week appears to be cancelling for the rest of the year. They said they'd be willing to host or travel, so Pikeville could get a game and a home gate out of it at that.
Also, if you are in the Paintsville camp, you may want to be looking for a backup plan Oct. 21 because the team that was scheduled to be playing Dayton Christian this week (Riverview East Academy) has cancelled its last two games.

Anthony is a gamechanger. He carried Pikeville and opens up their other options by the attention he commands.
Belfry needs Chase Varney back. Ace Caudill is developing nicely. Having Varney at QB and letting Woolum do what he does best will be a formidable offense with Caudill and Young doing their thing. Winning out is key for Belfry. You have to beat Lawrence and then Letcher Central will be a huge RPI game you must win. Bell will be the #1 RPI team in the East because they most likely go 10-0. You want to make Lexington Catholic come to Belfry but they have two 6A wins. Belfry needs that third non-district win and needs to hope LexCath loses to Boyle and Scott County but beats Lloyd Memorial. If Lloyd upsets LexCath they most likely go 10-0 and get the 1 seed instead,
Also, I know it is a broken record... but once again Belfry's best efforts and intentions falls short late. Depth is an issue. Belfry has got to find a way to mask this depth or gameplan to minimize the impact. They simply are wearing down to teams with more bodies or less two way players time and time again.

Depth….or the lack thereof is definitely an issue for the Pirates. Offensively….Belfry has the weaponry….when healthy. Agree on the LC and LCC games.

Belfry with Varney back, both Woolums, Young and Caudill and others on offense should do major damage in 3A. If they can develop some depth which they usually do they could be right there at Thanksgiving still alive…

Pikeville was the better team….with the better player. 35 was a man among boys out there.
