North Laurel 14 Madison Central 7
#1
Final.

Congratulations North!

Got to this game. North Laurel's Defense lives up to the hype, they are strong at every position. The offense, splutters and chugs along and did enough to win, but they are not impressive from any angle.

Can MC be fixed without changes in athletic administration?

The fix for MC is as follows:
1.  Leave the Head Coach to do what he needs to do
2.  Fix the feeder programs.

Oh- I don’t blame him at all! I agree; someone has to be hired and left alone and trusted with a vision for ANY program to thrive.

Congrats Jaguars

Inquiring minds wanna know splutters and chugs along. Every article written by 13th Region says North Laurel offense is struggling. What exactly are you seeing with the offense that is making North Laurel Struggle? Seems like Coach Chappell has a lot of talent kids on his roster and no one is saying what the struggle is that’s causing offensive struggles. Did the loss of 3 year starting QB to Rockcastle hurt the Jaguars? Who’s the offensive coordinator at North Laurel that calls the plays? A lot of people are watching this North Laurel Football Team and are trying to figure out just what the offensive issue is. All I heard after DC took a job up North was how bad the Defense would be and to my knowledge no DC was ever hired and the defense is playing great in every article I read. Far too many question marks floating around about this offensive struggle. Seven scores in four games does appear to be a struggle however looking at KHSSA looks like in four games the opposing teams have only gotten seven scores as well. All four games appear close on paper.. So what’s the problem?

After watching them a couple times, they definitely appear to have a solid, hard-nosed defensive unit. Warren is a well above average high school qb, and if he had stayed they very possibly could be 4-0 right now. They just don’t have anything really dynamic going for them on offense. Probably gonna get smacked at Southwestern in two weeks, but after that they could very possibly win out and finish 7-3, second in the district and get a home playoff game.

Perfect description. They are a big strong team that seems as good as most teams in the trenches.

Yes, their defensive unit is impressive.  Yes, I think had Warren stayed there this would have been a different team.
Everyone I speak to says that. I heard at the game the other night NL had a good QB coming from their middle
school, this year but as a Freshman it wouldn't have been a good idea to throw him to the Wolves right out of the
gate. Plus, he is tearing it up just playing defense.  I agree with your assessment of SW and that it could play out
the way you explained.  The "O" line appears to be a big problem to me, pretty weak, and there is no one blocking
for those backs that would probably be pretty darn good and more effective if they had someone opening up holes
for them. That's what I am seeing.

You are asking some questions I do not know the answer to.  Some other points I addressed on another post on this subject on here, I thought it was this one.  Not been here long, just figuring some of this out. I too am curious about some of the points you brought up as well.  Not sure about the DC or offensive coordinator. I just know who some of the coaches are but outside of the head coach, I don't know who coaches what and there hasn't been a program to purchase at the games I have attended that usually has that stuff in it.  I agree seems to be a lot of ? marks. They may well get this lined out as it goes along, I have seen teams do that, mid season and beyond something clicks and they figure their problems out.

What the heck is going on with ALL of the schools in Madison County regarding football? Central, Southern, and Berea are a combined 1-11 with the one win being Southern beating Central. Madison County's population is too large to be so bad at football. Looking at Central's remaining schedule, they probably will finish 0-10. And Southern not to long ago was in the state championship game plus had a future Alabama running back on the roster.

These places have got to have a good feeder program (Little League Football Leagues). Every coach I have
ever talked to brings that up in a conversation when teams are not doing as well as they have in the past. They
get around to 'High school teams are only as good as their Little League programs.  Look at what the youth programs
are doing there and it will probably answer a lot of questions.

Madison County has the worst “daddy ball” situation in the state. I know of 4 coaches in Madison County the last 15+ years who have invested tons of time in the youth only for these youth coaches do very little of what the high school teams do. The youth program in Richmond is garbage, and the South end tries so hard to push basic terminology and schemes only for these “daddy’s” to essentially run Madden plays. Coach Payne, Coach Blair, and Coach Thomas are very good high school coaches only to these dads to play hero ball. I hope it gets better because it may cost good coaches and staffs jobs. It’s been happening for years in Madison County and has cost a couple of coaches their jobs in the past.

Smile Daddy Ball happens in most programs. Some more than others. I did hear of a situation down there last year that didn’t help matters. I have a solution for it. If your kid plays at a program and it’s geared towards Daddy Ball. Then I definitely would consider transferring. No one wins and it’s obvious as the day is long when it is happening. I watch a ton of film on teams and I get told situations and you can usually connect the dots on the field. Look at the kid’s parents, then enough said. A blind man can see what’s going on. Politics has destroyed most programs who are not consistently at the top of their class. Sad but true.

Parents carrying large coolers full of alcohol into youth league games kinda tells you what the HS coaches in the area are dealing with.

Woah I personally aint for that myself. That has no place around the High School game. This is some of the best times of our youth is in the high school years and it needs to be a great memory.
