8/4 Pikeville @ Breathitt Co
#1
Scrimmage play on the riverbank

Can give us an idea of where the O and D line is at.

Excited to see how and if we transition from a single feature back and 90% run to multiple backs and a few more throws.
#3
Interested in seeing how these talented backs perform against a pretty good Breathitt team. Panther's O has some very talented running backs to say the least. Panthers young line has to get settled in however and learn varsity play. The other side of it is, can Pikeville's D stop the Bobcat runners as they'll run behind a big strong O line? We know this is just a pre season scrimmage but its going to be interesting. Pikeville's seasoned QB Isaac Duty will once again be exciting to watch this season. GO PANTHERS!!

I have no idea this early, but I’ll go out on a limb and say pikeville has no problem.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that Breathitt will run the ball with tons of success. They have a whole stable of very powerful RBs that are hard to take down and strong enough to stay in their feet after contact. They also have the luxury of running behind a very good OL. It’s gonna open up the passing game for Stacy to Spurry. I look for some big hits by the bobcats. Their LBs are very aggressive that absolutely love contact.
I don’t know much about Pikeville but their success in the past speaks for itself. I’d like to see a competitive scrimmage that both teams can learn from and I hope all the players stay healthy and injury free.

Not tons of success
Pikeville is far superior to anyone Breathitt faced last year
Even with almost a whole new defense
Defense will come around for Pikeville and be up to the task in November
I do expect Pikeville offense with all their new line to go up and down the field on Breathitt

To be clear if this was a regular game Pikeville would put up 50 on Breathitt

Wow, if they can put up 50 in Breathitt then they must be a great team. It will be a good experience for Breathitt scrimmaging such a high caliber team.

How dare you Wolfeman to think that Breathitt could play with Pikeville! The "J" in Jet should stand for joke, because he's always belittling anybody who doesn't put Pikeville up on a pedestal. Pikeville has a great program, and no doubt they will be the favorites to win 1A, but to think they would hang 50 on a veteran Breathitt team is nonsense, especially this early in the year.
#10
I’d be surprised if you see much from either school honestly. It will be more working a few basic plays and making sure the lineman know their assignments. I’m sure this evening both teams will have fans on here thinking they dominated. The kids may take note of who scores more but the coaches don’t. They’ll be rotating a ton of kids in for a multitude of reasons (to see what they can do, to stay fresh and to lessen injuries), so a few scores can happen that in a real game may not even occur.
It’s just all about getting better, so I wouldn’t put much stock into anything that happens today. Good luck to both teams on finding some positives to build on, finding some negatives to adjust and to an injury free game!

Honestly, I was kinda thinking that Breathitt could also easily hang 50 on Pikeville, but I’m just trying to be polite. Haha

Well I think if your a coach and are playing to win a scrimmage then I think you have the wrong idea of what a scrimmage is for and I don’t think either coach will even know the score is but will be more concerned with what their players are doing well and what they need to work on but seems like fans sometimes are delusional even on scrimmage games

Breathitt veteran defense gave up 41 to Lloyd last game of last year. The following week Lloyd scores ZERO in running clock dismantling loss to Beechwood. Please. Breathitt fans most delusional on here consistently.

I do agree with MB. I don't think either team will show more than their basic stuff.
#15
Pikeville is skilled but breathitt is deeper with a battle hardened and pissed off bunch of boys so it should be interesting considering the value of both programs. I’m taking breathitt tho I may be kinda biased lol

I just saw some of the Pikeville Players leaving Peking as we were going into eat. Pre game meal before they eat some Bobcats for Dessert. ?

I thought I saw someone from Breathitt Co earlier this week post that the Bobcats were going to be streaming the game on Facebook. Hope so.

Ok since no more takers on trash talk all kidding aside I expect Breathitt to play physical hard-nosed football and this scrimmage to be very beneficial to both squads
Hopefully no injuries to either team

Breathitt moved the ball really well opening up, Pikeville has struggled running straight at Breathitt but countering and play action they've moved the ball better and are in the red-zone after one big chunk play.
#20
You and I must be watching two different games lol. I’ve watched Breathitts first two 10 play series and I think they would’ve gotten 1 total first down and no where close to the end zone. If they’ve got all these stud backs they must be holding them out tonight lol.
Pikeville with 2 scores already and almost drove for a third in the first set of ten plays.

Pikeville is smoking on offense. 2 tds and an interception on defense so far. Breathitt needs to find a rhythm offensively. But not a bad looking team. Breathitt no scores.

Third 10 play series for Breathitt, other than a couple bad snaps, moved the ball a little better. Breathitt appeared to have most of their ones still in against a lot of Pikeville’s two’s and three’s. Still no score through 30 plays.

Most expected this to be pure dominance from Pikeville, to many questions from Breathitt however I like what I've seen from a team competing against a team that everyone knew would be tops of the line and Breathitt who had some holes to fill. The 2nd drive was horrific for the Bobcats.

If this was a real game Pikeville would running clock them late in the 3rd quarter. In my opinion.

I know it’s just scrimmage but I agree with most. If this was a real game Pikeville would have hung 35 on Breathitt.
#26
You’re right about Pikeville. They looked great. I’m not sure what was going on with Breathitts offense. Maybe Pikeville is just that good. I didn’t understand why Combs didn’t run the ball more and why they didn’t play Tolson at fullback, They sure could have used his blocking abilities. The bobcats threw the ball much more than I expected. I don’t look for them to do that against Belfry. I guess maybe they are trying to figure out the QB position.
Good luck to Pikeville. I’ll be rooting for them to win another 1A state title.

Scrimmage is over. Here is my thoughts

Pikeville looks good for this early in the season considering what all they lost. Line play both ways looks good. There kids catch the ball and make plays. Who is playing the middle besides Anthony? #13? I’m assuming Caudill is 14. Only slight I seen was a Breathitt wide out got behind the defense on the first 10 series. ( kid dropped it otherwise it would have been a big play).

Breathitt has a big strong line, gives their quarterback plenty of time to throw. There kids need to catch the ball to help out. Quarterback play needs to get better. But this is a scrimmage so they were working on things that needed to be addressed. Breathitt never once lined up in the wishbone like they did last season. But no need to work on that at this moment. Breathitt secondary still needs improvement. Tackling will also need to be focus as well. Breathitt is geared to stop the run and they are aggressive at trying to make that stop at the LOS. If quarterback doesn’t improve then it might as well be 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Maybe throw 2-5 times a game.

I was giving a few of the Breathitt posters a little jab , especially over the dropping 50 on them comment, but anyway, I think Breathitt can be a solid 2A team. They have nice size and can be a very physical team. I think if they embrace that identity then they can be sorta Belfryish in 2A. Anyway I think it was great work for both teams. Pikeville looks better than most thought they’d be after the huge graduations from last year. Boykins and Caudill are going to be huge problems for 1A. Plus add in that a few huge difference making type kids didn’t even play tonight for the Panthers bodes very well. 1A landscape is about the same as it has been.

Anyone claiming that wasn’t hard to watch is delusional. Breathitt had TONS of missed tackles, 5 ints, looked gassed, dropping balls, not finishing blocks, busted coverage.. everyone on FB seems to think “Breathitt is Back”. Just sad. More worried about live streams and photo shoots. This is exactly what daddy ball and booster money gets ya.

Don't forget the Two Snaps that went 20-30 Yards over the QBs head and would've been walking in TDs for the Panthers.
