Congrats to LCC on a great season. I know they are probably looking forward to next year!! Some great athletes that are young. If they build on this season, they’ll continue to make some noise in the 4A East!!
Now that that’s out of the way…. Man oh man!!! Wheeeeeewwww!!! Like OSH, I was a little hesitant to believe the number 1 by Corbin’s name. They proved me wrong and then some!! Completely shut LCC down. And as you can tell from their stats and schedule results. Not many have done that. Actually outside of a Davy Crockett team, no one has!!! I mean this with the up most respect for LCC because I’ve enjoyed watching them this week, but Corbin poured it on them, and done it in every facet of the game. LoS, rushing, Passing, everything. Burn the hounds shouldn’t get a big head just yet, they might be the best team in the East, but I saw a couple things that need fixed, or tightened up. But a solid performance against a team that puts up some points. Only thing I can say now…. Is I’m a believer! And this week is gonna be FUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!
I know I go back quite a bit further than you do(I wish I was your age...LOL) but is this the best Corbin team you've seen? At least, the stretch of play we've seen the last half of the season.

We absolutely came out ready to play. If we come out with that same intensity 3 more games , we’ll finally have the title back in Corbin. I’m not sure if letcher isn’t as advertised or we came out looking like a team on a mission. Wow.

I tried to tell people from week 1 that Corbin was legit, but hey what do I know. Congrats Hounds good luck going forward.

The fact that the 2018 team didn't beat Central is a travesty. They were 2-3 TD's better on most days than Central. Was Dale Fox on that '92 team or was he before that? He was a beast of a running back.

Keep in mind Hound that Corbin didn’t play Bolton and West on the defense either… That’s what speaks volumes to me more than anything. How about Cameron Combs gee whiz!! Kid is unreal!
Biggest two guys standing there on the sideline? Them!!
That just adds a whole new element to that defense if we have to go heavy down there. Because our Dline is amazing anyways.

This is the first time I have felt comfortable rating Corbin as the best 4A team. All season, I've had Boyle at #1(and they could still very well win it all) but this 297-0 stretch has made me a believer.

I’m as high on the Hounds as anyone. I personally think this bunch would curb stomp those 70’s and 80’s teams. The depth would end it pretty quick.
All that said, I will never underestimate Johnson Central. They’ve handled us the past two years. While I think we will be the rightful favorite, they’re not getting overlooked by me. I’ll be very surprised if the streak goes to 7 games but I sure hope it does. Hounds are capable of it but they can’t rest on their laurels.

'76 Corbin team had the best offensive player (and all-around player) I've seen at Corbin in Steve Bird and the best defensive player I've seen in R.C. Thomas. I would put that bunch up against anyone, And the coaching staff was top notch. Advantage '76 team.

But it seems like they could split 4 guys out and everyone of them would run 4.2 40 hah. I think the QB was Danny steely, and he had a dang arm!
Lost second round to Madison southern. Funny how you remember that what if’s as long as you live. That’s what I keep telling my son, don’t blink or let up. You’ll never get these downs back again.

I personally think this bunch would curb stomp those 70’s and 80’s teams. The depth would end it pretty quick.Probably. I always try to think of it in perspective. Teams were different back then. Which I know I don’t have to tell you that. But i the point I guess I’m trying to make when people ask about the best teams I’ve saw, I compare to the level of competition in that time. Our 1996 team was running the spread for the most part in a time that it was about unheard of in eastern ky. I bet that team would wipe the 80s teams. Like someone said, depth and the fact that back in the day you didn’t have 3 or 4 people that could cover the pass on D. Kids now days are for the most part faster, maybe a little stronger, use better techniques, and there’s more of them.
I hate to reminisce on it because of what they did in the first round. But man do you guys remember that 96 squad. I don’t know if I’m just letting my imagination get the best of me. But it seems like they could split 4 guys out and everyone of them would run 4.2 40 hah. I think the QB was Danny steely, and he had a dang arm!
I’ve never got to ask anyone. What happened? I mean we just blew that team out a couple weeks prior.
That’s why I’m hoping this team stays grounded and focused. Like I said. I saw some things that as an opposing coach, id be highlighting. But a solid overall performance.

Thomas. I would put that bunch up against anyone, And the coaching staff was top notch. Advantage '76 team.I’ve only got to see RC on some old tapes that we’re grainy. But I’ve been told by people outisde if Corbin, they wouldn’t want to go against him!!
and to answer your question about LCC you posted earlier. I think it’s a combination of both. In don’t care what team stepped out on that field tonight, they were gonna get beat outside of a couple 6A and a 5A team. But I also think as good of a team as they were, LCC was given a little more credit than they deserved, solely on the fact they played a decent Johnson central team close. Honestly that was it. Because they didn’t really play anyone else that would give you that same thought. BReathitt co. Might have a decent team. But as I said way before the game, you can’t use stats against JV teams to try and gauge yourself. We did last year, and look what happened. But I do think the team that comes next week that shall not be named because Bull don’t have the thread out yet, will give us their best performance all season.

I might have missed it, I asked earlier. Did anyone get any stats? I should have left with about 5 min left and seen if Ron had any on the radio.

What made the '76 Corbin team so elite was its defense. They held a Mayfield team that was averaging 40+ points/game to 0 points in the state championship game. They held one of the state's best teams and elite offenses in Middleboro to 9 points in the district clincher at Mboro. The guys on the defense were big , mean, and intimidating, and they looked the part, some with full beards. When your defensive line is anchored by a monster like RC Thomas, you know your defense is badass. Those dudes were SCARY.... and scary good!!!

Wouldn't surprise me. I can only imagine what Thomas, John Francioni. and that bunch of misfits said to the opposing players during the game. I was a schoolmate of that bunch and I was scared as hell of 'em. I had art class with Thomas and he would come to class drunk most mornings. Everyone was scared to say anythiing to him about it,

I would have been. I never associated with Thomas and some of those guys , although RC was always okay to me whenever he spoke to me. He was named 1st team All-State his senior year. Received a four year scholarship to UK but got into a fight with and threatened a UK running back the first day of spring practice and was kicked off the team and out of school. Four years later, stabbed his mother and cousin to death. Really a shame. Too bad that he didn't allow football to be a healthy outlet for his anger and aggression. Most intimidating presence I ever saw on the football field, Opposing players were scared to death of the guy because he didn't care to hurt them and will tell them as much.

I've often thought about that , Dougie. Very little of that talk could have been for public consumption, I'm sure. I remember a bloody fight in the school between Thomas and John Francioni. John was a big, big dude but he lost that bloody battle. You couldn't have paid me enough money to go up against RC Thomas, either on the football field or elsewhere. Dude was psycho.
