Letcher Central at Corbin 11/11
#61
One thing I noticed that Letcher Central had done is there coaches has paid attention to film... Unlike a coach or two I know. When I watched the Letcher Central vs Johnson Central game, I seen a defense where Letcher Central adjusted to try to stop the JC run game. So the coaches are definitely trying to prepare there team to beat the opponent. I'm curious to see this matchup.

You have to pay for it but you can watch Boyles game for free on it against Rowan County and you can catch most the JC games on it..

When I watch LCC, I like there team. I liked them last year but JC was just to much for them... This years LCC team, the QB is a nice one.. I see they are using one of Corbins last years tricks by putting the recivers out there and spreading the field and then letting the play develope and running the QB... He didn't throw as much as I thought he should have, becaue he did complete some nice passes down the field. I feel like they ran Johna Little a little too much. But he is a quick one.. I personally don't see this game being close. For one, Wayne County has a very similiar QB and attack but I'll say Letcher is better than Wayne County, keep in mind Wayne beat North Laurel....So the reason I say that, is North has a nice defense but Waynes QB was elusive enough to crack the North Laurel code, but got coded when they played Corbin. I went and watched that one in person. Letcher will get some points on the board I think but that also depends on Greer if he plays West and Bolton on the defense. They havn't seen action since Simon Kenton..Unless I missed them getting in against Harlan County..But I don't think they played.. But unless Corbin just flat out plays flat and has some turnovers, I look for Corbin to win this one by at least 3 scores...

I like gambling and odds. So there’s a small chance they could. But someone that knows them better than me is gonna have to answer the question. I know how we win……

but I don’t know how you draw up a game plan to stop the middle and long passing game, screen and short game, and the rushing game. Elam has an arm! Sometimes I worry he throws it a little to hard. But really the only thing I could think of is just Blitz the heck out of corbin. But you open yourself up to passes over the middle and short outs. Run a 4-4 in cover 2, and have the two OLB’s blitzing every play so he don’t have as much tome. But then you have two LB’s covering 1-2 of
the short and medium field. Not to mention 2 safety’s that will have their hands full. I don’t envy their DC. Because there’s really not been a team to shut corbin down offensively

Here is the only thing I see I would do differently with the Corbin offense.....Now keep in mind, this is just my thinking and I am a coffee maker not a coach LOL.  After watching the Lexington Catholic game against Boyle and that was a very good game and I still give Boyle the nod as the better team. I like the offense in the second half for Lexington Catholic, meaning they let the QB check down the recievers and find the open guy and it was a spread with multiple routes downfield with recievers all over the place. The Lexington Catholic line was working and the little QB threaded the needle. Now IMO, Kid Elam is the best QB in 4A... I know Corbin has weapons all over the field. I like to see the Corbin offense opened up and let Kid Elam check down and control the game with his arm... I go back to Corbin being down 13-0 in the second quarter and Kid Elam comes in and throws darts all over the field and just shell shocked Pikeville in that game and once Corbin took the lead, Corbin goes into running the clock out mde and running the ball.... Then go to the Pulaski game, I hated that game because Corbin played clock management to run the clock out and limited his passing... To me yes you can win that way, but you can get your hind end beat that way too by allowing the opponent to hang around instead of just getting them off the field...Now the Lexington Catholic QB don't have wheels, Elam has 26 inch rims..... Smile

I thought I saw him out there one series. but what you said at the end is why I have a problem deciding about LCC. Yea the look good at times. Like Harlan. They looked real good. But our JV was scoring, stopping, intercepting, On Harlans starters. They looked good too.

A friend of mine text me last night said he was listening to post game LCC players saying they were more physical and were gonna make an example of Corbin this week!I love the confidence but I don't see the boys overlooking them now lol! Also one of them said they were looking forward to doing Cougar Jack's on our C at midfield after the victory.

LCC is playing a great team. They don’t want to play a great team that’s pissed off

They also said they had the best athlete and offensive line in the state. But good for them. Nothing wrong in believing in your team

This year we have played several teams that are supposed to be more physical and better athletes than us. But in the end they all come to our boys and say wow we didn't know,or I'm not moving this play don't hit me or you guys are way more physical than anyone we've played.

I also saw several HC kids last night on offense running away instead of taking on blockers!

Letcher has had these good teams but had to play in probably the toughest region in the state with Corbin and Johnson Central. Hopefully this will be the last time Letcher has to play in 4A. With the kids they have coming back they could really make some noise in 3A the next few years.

LCC fans, Corbins field is not at the high school. It’s about 2 miles away. Campbell field. Someone was talking about it somewhere else and gave directions to Corbin highs School.

Letcher lost by 1 at JC and could have very easily won it. If Corbin beats Letcher by 4 TDs , they should beat JC(who lost to a sh!tty North Laurel team) rather handsomely as well.

I've tried it before. I was talking about it the other day. I can tell you all the places to get a pretty good chili bun or hot dog from Pat's Snack Bar in Manchester to Dairy Dart in London to Conley's  Drive-In to Frosty Mug at Harrogate,TN to Royal Lunch in Lafollete,TN or Dorsie's Dairy Bar at Pikeville,KY Smile . I've also had hot dogs at football games at a few different high schools, and the best ones are at Jellico football games.

Dougie, did you ever tried Weaver's in London?  They make a really good c.bun.  Not sure if they are still open or not., Does anyone know?
Yeah, I've been to Weaver's a few times before, and they were opened on 4th Street last I knew, but I'm not sure if they still are. I intentionally left them off the list and included Dairy Dart, because I don't think they are as good as they used to be, but that's just my opinion Smile . I forgot to mention Highland Park Drive-In in Williamsburg. They are pretty good too, and some people also like G&E Drive-In.

Back when I was in college and dad worked in Wburg, we would stop by Highland Park a couple times a week for peanut butter milkshakes. Out of this world good!  Don't know if they are as good as they were decades ago but they were sure good back in the day. I don't ever remember trying any other food other than the ice cream.
It's probably close to the same as it was back then Smile

Corbin 38
LCC 14
They are starting a lot of young kids and it took 3 or 4 weeks to get secondary settled. LCC would put a running clock on Hazard if they played right now. The 2nd half of that game is when this team changed. They put up 50 in second half and if not for a horrible 45 yards worth of penalties they would have won. Now I don’t think LCC can beat Corbin. Corbin is just to good right now for a young cougar team to play with. I’m just hoping the game stays competitive.

Corbin should win this game by 3 or 4 TDs. Letchers defense just to young and inexperienced to stop Corbin much. Letcher has great Oline that can compete with anyone. That was the reason They play JC so good. For the first time they was just as good upfront. Only way I see Letcher keeping it close is if they can control the clock and have no turnover and it will still be really tough. If this was a older team I would feel a little more confident but I just can’t see this young team winning a game like this. Corbin is to good right now.

Corbin should run clock.
#84
If Letcher County Central avoids turnovers and recovers an onside kick or two, then they will have a good shot at an upset. LCC may be the best running team that Corbin plays this season unless they play Johnson Central next week.

Corbin by 12

Corbin will have a big advantage in the kicking game. I doubt that LCC attempts to kick an extra point and Corbin should start drives with a short field.

I’m gonna say Running Clock
