The cougars come up just short.

Congratulations Johnson Central!! Sounded like a good game!

I knew this game would be closer than what most predicted but I didn’t expect it to be that close.
Sounds like Letcher had plenty of chances to win this one.
A win is a win…. I guess. But what does this say about JC? Did they potentially over look Letcher?

Johnson Central made a couple of blunders in the first half that let Letcher County Central grab the momentum, but LCC had a great game plan and executed very well. The Cougars may surprise some teams in the playoffs. I was under the mistaken impression that Jonah Little is most of LCC's offense. He has got some talented teammates and a good, big offensive line. LCC converted several key 3rd and 4th downs to sustain drives. JC moved the chains but LCC did a good job limiting the Golden Eagles possessions with their offense.
Good luck in the playoffs, LCC!

48-54ish to 14-21. I thought that would be on a good night for LCC.
I starting listening at the 4th qtr. sounds like they were having problems stopping the pass and the QB scrambling. But I honestly have no idea overall. That was a 10 minute cut out of an 80 minute game. Would be interested in hearing the thoughts of the fans that were there. Old guy? Running wild?

Letcher had a slow start to season because of how manny freshman and sophomores they start especially on defense but this team has gotten better and better all season. What I loved the most about this game is JC really focused on shutting down Little and a bunch of the young cougars kids played really well. Letcher should be really good next couple of years.

Letcher won’t have an easy game round 1. North Laurel will be coming in who already beat JC earlier this year.
10-21-2022, 11:09 PM
A 1-point loss to North Laurel and a 1-point win at home against Letcher leads one to believe JC has a very low probability of winning at Corbin, Lex Cath or Boyle.

They jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the first play of the second quarter. JC made a mistake kicking to LCC's return guys. The onside kick that LCC recovered was also a momentum changer. I am not sure whether JC executed poorly on a few plays or if the game plan did not account for LCC's speed. JC's defense struggled to get pressure on Little. He is an outstanding football player.

I think you might have your wires crossed North Laurel is 5A. LCC is 4
But you are correct. They won’t have an easy game. But they won’t be playing Corbin either. Probably Knox central I think without looking at it

The momentum swing was a big turning point. LCC has weapons and can play. This kind of reminded me of some of the old Ashland and JC games. I was a little off on my prediction. I knew LCC had the pieces. From my seat, it appears in the 4th quarter, LCC had some issues getting the play in and getting set, causing the, to use up their timeouts on the last scoring drive, which ultimately sealed their fate. If they had a couple timeouts…the last drive could have been way different for them. I thought it was a great game overall, there were a couple holds missed on LCC’s final scoring drive, but make no mistake, none of this is a slight to LCC..I was impressed.

Did little get hurt? The announcer said he was on the sideline for the last 3 plays.

Like Simon Kenton, if their offense plays well, LCC can make your defense look worse than it is. Corbin was lucky to escape the game with Simon Kenton with a win. Johnson Central was lucky to win tonight. They were one big play or mistake away from a loss.

Did LCC run it much? Not QB scramble. But a designed run play? The reason I ask is someone made a comment about them finally running it, or something like that?

Honestly, I think he was in…but I was just wrapped up in being a fan..lol. The holds were clear as day…no way they should have not been called…it definitely did effect the plays. Either way, the playoffs should be interesting…

but I will agree with you in a way. Certain teams matchup better and worse than another team would. Like a good pass offense vs an avg pass defense. You see it early in the year a lot, and like this, sometimes in district play. Plus teams respond to others differently too. I thought for a long time that lex cath gets a little more motivated against boyle than they would against Scott. Or similar. Lincoln county played us good for the past 2 seasons. But we’d kill a team that beat them. But looking back at it now, an avg team played us tight, we thought it was just one of those games, and we
overestimated ourselves, and didnt know until we played a great team, of just how much we did.

Corbin will beat LCC by 50 if they play. Mark it down. Wayne County will beat LCC by 3 TDs. LCC can handle Wayne or Knox. North Laurel is 5A.
