14th region Rankings(Week 3)
#1
1. Knott (3-1) Playing very well, have core of their team back
2. Breathitt (4-2) Coach Noble has them playing very hard and getting better every day
3. Perry (2-2) Need to find another scorer other than Back, and stay out of foul trouble, very weak bench
4. Cordia (3-3) Good group of players, new coach letting them run and gun, fun team to watch
5. Wolfe (3-3) Stone is a beast, can score with the best of them, have to find some help for him if they want to be a contender
6. Leslie (2-3) Played well against Perry the 2nd time, shows they can be a very good team at times.
7. Hazard (3-2) Just starting to play together after late football season, they have a good young group and can surprise some later in season
8. Buckhorn (2-5) Coach Hoskins has a good young group that plays hard, if they are hot from the 3, they can beat anyone in the region
9. Jackson City (3-4) Up and down team, fun to watch when they are hitting the 3's
10. Letcher (1-5) Played well against Cordia last night, showed they can compete, just getting to know each other and the new coach.

Should definitely be a fun region, good luck to all the teams.:1:

Not sure how Estill didn't get ranked but that's a mistake. Also think Breathitt is a little high. Coach Noble has them playing hard but they haven't beat anyone in the top of the region yet. Hazard is a decent team but not the Hazard of old so that win doesn't look as good as it would have 5-10 years ago. I think Knott is the top team with 4-6 teams right behind them that could beat Knott on any given night.

1. Knott

(next group can be in any order really)
2. Perry
3. Wolfe
4. Cordia
5. Estill
6. Breathitt
7. Leslie

The 14th region champion will be decided by what team can grow and improve the most from now till tournament time. No clear favorite this year.

If Estill played the their first 5 games like they did last night, they'd be undefeated right now. Watched the game and it looked like Estill couldn't miss from outside. FT shooting needs to be better.

If Estill plays the rest of the season like they did last night, they won't have but maybe a few more losses if that...

Breathitt is not the #2 team in the region. Maybe 6 or 7.

I actually thought Estill would be in the top 3 at the start of the year, but after the start that they have had I don't know where to put them. They have a great bunch of players, but just don't seem to be fitting together very well right now. They are probably between 5-10 some where. But right now I probably would put them at 10 instead of Letcher. But where Letcher played Cordia tight last night, I gave the nod to Letcher for the 10 spot. Not like these rankings mean anything anyways, hopefully Estill will pull it together and be the team we all thought they would be over Christmas.

Didn't go by what is on paper, I have went by what I have seen in the first couple weeks of the season. Yes these will change, and yes teams towards the bottom are actually better than those above them, but are not playing like it at the moment. That is why you have rankings every week, just like the college system does. And it is all for fun and something to talk about. TongueirateSho

Ok. That makes sense. Thought you were ranking them based on best teams. I agree Breathitt has gotten off to a good start. I still think it will come down to Knott co, Perry Central, Cordia, Hazard.

Estill will have Wolfe next Tuesday in Campton, we will see how both teams fair....This should be a game that WYMT covers....Zaga_Fan
