It really has no bearing. Danville vs Boyle was the 3rd Game of the Season. 3rd game for a team relying heavily on Sophomores. This is no the same Boyle team. Danville is not the same Admiral team.
Just like Corbin losing to Beechwood has no bearing on this game. That was along time ago and I pretty much can see that Corbin is a much better team now than then.
There are no common opponents between Corbin and Boyle. So straining for 3rd generation one is a stretch. And like I knew when you posted (but you must not have), The Danville game vs Mayfield is on Saturday, hence it has no bearing.
I MEANT AS FAR AS FANS PERSPECTIVES. obviously no game has any bearing on this one. But it would in the fans mind.

Look dude. Corbin has a great group of coaches that will have their team prepared. So does Boyle, with MANY state titles to their credit as a staff. They are relentless with their preparation and schemes AND they have a team full of ballers.
I can't wait for Friday. To be the best, you gotta beat the best. Corbin/Boyle are both deserving and it will be a great atmosphere.

The best got beat by central two weeks ago 😉
Youâre right about the atmosphere though. Might be better than some UK games. Though, they donât set the bar to high

That alone is worth the extra 20.00 seeing as it looks pretty cold on Friday night.
I know that is the Corbin side of the field but is the club level split between Corbin and Boyle?
Don't know if it's got designating seating for each team but there will be both teams fans sitting in the area.

Nope youâre good brother I just wanted to make that part clear since Iâm topping on a mobile phone. But I guess Iâm in the minority then. Because if they played first and Danville Blew Mayfield out, Iâd still think we would win- but I am a corbin homer- but it would have me second guessing it a lot. How could it not have any bearing on a fans mind?

How similar is the middle schools offense compared to the HS at Boyle?

Very little. The middle school this year ran a wide open, FUN offense with a new coach. Some of the formations might have been similar and a little of the terminology but that could be the case for anybody.
Boyle Co HS can do anything from power run to the spread and I'm sure have some tricks up their sleeve. I'm sure Corbin does too.
The issues during the middle school title game is that our offense was greatly affected by the weather. Those kids were better than what they showed. It would have had a much better showing without the cold rain that Sunday.
11-27-2017, 05:41 PM
I wonder how much Boyle wishes they had the kicker and Corbin wishes they had Trayveon Longmire on their Varsity squads this Friday? I guarantee both would be effective at this level despite being 8th graders.

I can relate to that. I canât stand when people say âwell both teams had to play in the same weatherâ. Well both teams might not be a pass heavy team. While I still think corbin probably wins that game regardless weâve still been the victim of it on the HS level. Our playoff game versus bell co was a frigid night. Wide open passes being dropped, it hurts ya some.

That kicker, yeah probably. Longmire, nope. Heâll be a great player, but not effective on this level as an 8th grader. Thatâs not slamming him, itâs realistic. Heâs fast, but thereâs more to it. He couldnât keep up with the speed of the game. His strength would kill him right now as well.

I don't think that Longmire would be a contributor out of the backfield, but I do think he would be a solid WR option at this stage. He wouldn't be as good as a Gosselin, but the kid is special and could make some plays (Maybe not against a Central or Boyle). I agree that the speed of the game and lack of strength (currently) would keep him from making an impact as a RB though. Either way, I can't wait to see both players next year.

From watching both play teams this year, I would say totally different. Boyle Middle had a new staff this year and they changed things on offense.

I was impressed with 13, kid is FAST. Defense was really good. Offense did what they needed to do.
It most certainly effects some offenses especially passing ones with young kids playing in it for the first time. Corbin was hard hitting and played very well. What kills me is the weekend before and the weekend after the temp was 70. LOL We also played 3 games in four days and it really wore our boys out and hurt us.
It was BCMS first time and I hope we don't play in the state tourny again. It just doesn't benefit us IMO.

Does anyone know where to find attendance numbers over the years. I said about 4 years ago when UK got the games it would be highest attendance ever. Guess weâll see.

Me personally, I would rather have Harrison Mesplay kick for Friday night's game. He's done everything a coach can ask for. He's a Sr. and been battle tested. Jackson's days are coming but Mesplay has paid his dues.
Harrison is 7/8 on field goals. His only miss was a block last week at no fault to him. 79/85 on extra points. I know 4 misses came in the first week or so. He should be around 49 for his last 50 now on extra points. If not for the bad snap and hold 2 weeks ago against Catholic would have a nice streak going.

I would guess that Lexington will have more attendance than Bowling Green, but $30 is a bit much for any seat.

Whether you throw the ball or run it, both teams have to play defense in the same weather. I hate it when people make the weather excuse for why they had a bad day throwing the football. If your quarterback can throw the ball well in bad weather, then it gives the offense an advantage. It's harder to cover guys when you have less footing, and the receiver knows where he is going. You just have to care more about making a catch than you care about your hands hurting. I hate cold games, but you can't deny that they separate the men from the boys.

I never said anything derogatory about the Boyle County staff. I agree with what you said, they know what they're doing and they'll have the kids prepared. Chuck smith is a legend and deserves a ton of recognition for it. He is actually one of my favorite high school football coaches of all time. I think he does things the right way, and his kids love him so much that they would run through a wall for him. I just think our coaching staff is every bit as good as yours. For the record we also have a team full of ballers. Ours are just juniors and seniors with a few sophomores sprinkled in instead of sophomores with a few juniors and seniors sprinkled in. Our juniors were the most dominant football team in the state in middle school. We also have a great senior group who have multiple years as starters under their belt. Why do I think Corbin will win? #10, #11, #16, #17, #50, #58, #60, #70, #81, and #90. They don't all start and some are hurt, but they are the leaders of this football team and I can guarantee you that they'll bring their A game Friday along with everyone else. Boyle is a fine football team, and are no doubt worthy of being here just like Corbin, but like i said earlier hounds by 14.

Yeah that probably did effect the game cause when Corbin had the ball the sun came out and it got into the 80s. I have never heard of a team getting blanked from touchdowns, but hit three impressive field goals blame a game on weather. Our defense wasnât a factor at all. Boyle had seen better defenses I am sure of, according to most Boyle fans that posted on that thread this 8th grade group was as good or better than the 2020 class they talked about forever. If you donât beleive me ask Wiener schnitzel or Lambert. Lol please we completed passes also, if it would have affected anyone it would have affected the kicking game and it didnât. As to the comment about the Bell game, it could have been the fact that there was a game of barnyard football going on you was dodging fist and cheap shots more than the weather.

As mostly a group the Beechwood game is the first game collectively the juniors have ever lost. As sixth graders they played about 10 games after tcsa ball was over never lost, as middle school teams went undefeated both years and won state both years, as high school went undefeated two years in j v even though a couple played varsity and didnât participate in j v. Now that majority of starters are juniors there only loss was to Beechwood. 15 starters juniors, 1 sophomore, 6 seniors.those numbers are based on sets of course there is a couple more sophomores that contribute major to the offense. And this comment is a compliment to the leadership those gentleman you mentioned, they have laid it out and been excellent leaders, mentors to the underclass man. They have pushed those juniors and sophomores to elevate there game to the Friday night level with the same intensity they have had in all there other success. That senior group had they all played as a group in middle school would have been maybe state champs as well, they are studs. But my comment was mainly saying watch the hounds will be here for a long time.

If you think the weather didn't effect Boyle more than it did Corbin (who relied on one player to RUSH for 4 TD's) then you are one of two things...not capable of rational thought or so big of a homer, you just can't admit the truth.
Your coaches knew what our offense was capable of and made the comment on Saturday that they hoped it was cold/rainy the next day. You know why? BECAUSE WEATHER CAN EFFECT A PASS FIRST OFFENSE.
Now your post and the post of boss? Are proof that you can't talk about your team or even question some Corbin fans, they take offense to anything but great things said about their team, their accomplishments and their community. It's a shame you can't just come on here and be cool.

I agreed with ya. I think weather was a factor. But I still think corbin wins the game convincingly. Another thing from that game is, Corbin actually throws a whole lot more than what they did that game. You have to adjust, and they did. Either way, HS football is gonna be exciting for the next couple of years for you and us.
But your comment for corbin fans goes both ways. For proof just look at that championship thread for the 8th grade. Youâll see boyle is the same way. I think another reason you might see it on here is not that many people from corbin are taking shots at boyle. We know who they are. And personally, besides outlandish comments about us, I like being the underdog. I think the kids do too.

Corbin threw for two touchdowns in the game (three of you count the one that was called back) they also threw a two point conversion. I agree that it affected boyle's ability to throw the ball. It just didn't affect corbin's.
