Super Regional proposal placed on hold?
#1
Hearing that a re-vote by coaches failed to achieve two-thirds majority and now the 15th Region Super Regional proposal will be put on hold for the moment.

The vote was 8-6 without achieving two-thirds majority.

Thoughts...

So, if a 2/3's majority isn't reached, does everything stay the same as it was or what? I thought the super region was a done deal from the khsaa.

Why was there a re-vote?

Has anything else happened concerning this?

Person who pushed this idea is gone along with their sidekick. Schools realized that the district tournaments would be meaningless and a waste of time. They also realized that without district tournaments a reliable source of income that supported athletics in their respective schools was in jeapordy. Why have a district if it doesn't mean anything? Don't know where 2/3 majority came from, last time I looked the policy board worked on simple majority. There was considerable pushback after school administrators received input from people in their schools and communities. If you remember the first meeting to set this up was an invite for Superintendents only; no other school or district people were invited. No transparency.

There was a meeting back in the spring and if it wasn't at 100% in favor it was not going to be done. It wasn't 100% in favor thus it was taken off the table. Looking back it did take away from the smaller districts and would have become like football is now with every school being in the playoffs. Teams get eliminated quick enough without prolonging their seasons.
