Heard through the grapevine that Buckhorn Head Coach John Noble has stepped down
Anyone confirm or deny?

This could be big news. I don't see it being truth unless he is wants to focus on his wrestling career.
If not that, I hope all is well with Coach Noble and his family. Maybe he sees the end of a great run for the Horn.

Rumor no more. Coach Noble just made it public on his facebook page that he accepted another position within the same district

Just saw. Noble was great for the program and community of Buckhorn. Will miller be taking over?
05-08-2017, 05:05 PM
I can see either Miller or Coach Hoskins at Jackson City getting it
05-08-2017, 05:19 PM
Evidently true. He announced on facebook that he resigned from coaching but will still be working within the school district.

yep it the truth

Will be very hard to replace John Noble. He has done so much for the small community of Buckhorn. Not just in basketball. I woud say a lot of coaches around the area let out a sigh of relief though as this was not a program you wanted to run into.

Very shocked by this, wish Coach Noble the best. Say what you want, but I don't think any coach in the region could have accomplished what he did at Buckhorn and that's why I have always said he's the best in the mountains. Took that team from the bottom of the barrel to a top tier program with his own kids, rarely see that in this day and age. I figure Tim Miller or Andrew Blank will take over now, possibly Corey Hoskins from Jackson City. Whoever it is, they have some big shoes to fill!!!

Rumor mill is already churning.
Miller is not interested.
Hoskins may want it.
But the juiciest is that John Paul Amis may be making moves to get his son Robert in his old chair. Wanting out of Breathitt before they force him out after failing to win the district since he was hired. After winning the previous 6 years before he got the job.

I don't think Amis will go to Buckhorn. The next few years at Buckhorn aren't going to be anywhere close to what the last 10 have been. Amis wants to move to a bigger job somewhere and the only way to do that is win.

Good move by Perry Central Office Staff. When Coach Hoskins decieds to step down or quit they Perry will not have to look far to find there man. He will be working at the board of Education. Is what the rumor has it.

Hoskins at Jackson City will be the coach at Buckhorn I believe.

If Amis wants to move to bigger and better he should try winning at Breathitt. Like I said, they had won district 6 years in a row, then they hired him.
May be looking for a change of scenery. And with his dads influence could play a lesser schedule at Buckhorn. Know they are on the decline, but again, he's been losing to Jackson city routinely at Breathitt.

Good luck to coach Noble and to whomever takes his place.
Big shoes to fill.
Big shoes to fill.

With Chavies shutting down, Buckhorn lost a good chunk of its feeder system.

RPA should focus more on the team and less on the student body.....

The Undertaker retires at WrestleMania.... John Noble steps down as Buckhorn's head coach.
Buckhorn's main color is Purple... The Undertaker's main color is Purple.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I am a connect-the-dots type of guy.... Nobody has seen John Noble and The Undertaker together in the same room.
Add in a few 'Gimmicks' here and there.... BOOM, John Noble could be The Undertaker. There, I said it.

Unless one of those gimmicks is a 1 foot step ladder, I think it is safe to say that the two are not the same.

A very good coach , but a better person .
05-10-2017, 05:52 PM
Have heard Coach Blank and also assistant Coach Miller have both declined the position. Probably will turn to Coach Corey Hoskins from Jackson City. If he decides to take the position he will do well with the young Wildcats. If not Hoskins, don't know where Buckhorn will turn next.

They asked him every year to come and take it and he repeatedly turned them down. That is not something that he wishes to do. He wants to now be with his family and enjoy his last few years in education without the hustle and bustle of practice, games and fast food every night.

Coach Noble will have to turn down several job offers over the next few years if he doesn't want to coach. He will be on the top of every school's wish in Eastern Ky.

Buckhorn has hired Hoskins from JCS. Should slide right in and take things over smoothly from Noble.

Is this official?

No surprise in this hire at all. Hoskins has been a long time assistant before being head man at Jackson City this past season.
