Jeff Sheppard taking over at North Laurel?
#31
I personally hope Sizemore is there next year. It just makes clays run that much easier. It's obvious he doesn't utilize his talent correctly
#32
The bottom line reads 2015 49th District Champs- Clay County; 2015 49th District Runner-up- Jackson County; Taking up uniforms and getting ready for some down time, possibly talking about car pooling to the Arena to watch the 13th region tournament- North Laurel. Next year will take care of itself regardless of what we all think.

BrokenArrow Wrote:It don't matter if broughton is wearing the #3 for north as long as Clay has #2 plain and simple. North isn't winning anything next year if Clay is healthy. And from what I'm hearing Clay may not need Rice. But we are always open to kids that laurel county wants to run off. Name the bet as long as it isn't foolish I'll call it on Sizemore being gone.

I will bet you BrokenArrow $64.00 that Brad Sizemore will be the coach next year. That if you want any of my money. 64SUR. :mop:

I will bet anything that you want, Sizemore will be back! Not even going to talk about the Clay crap! I know who is the best in the 13th and he is not at Clay! They as a team may be the best. Broughton one on one can't be stopped by #2. 20 at Clay and 22 at home this year with Smith guarding him. North's team was down, Broughton was not! Can't argue with that! Wait you Clay guys will!

Peyton Broughton's uncle if I am not mistaken is the principal at Apollo. Charles Broughton.

22 pts on 21 fg att. Is not very good plain and simple. And whether u realize it or not #2 has better stats head to head plain and simple. Stats don't lie and it's not even close If u factor in the defense that he plays. There's no argument. Anyone who knows the game knows who has the best all around game. I call 64.

Ding ding ding. And it came from a very reliable source. But u can't argue with north guys about their golden child. Kid is tough as nails but he not the best period.
#38
Got me on that one, his uncle used to coach there. I think his uncle retired, it might be his cousin though. Won't happen though
#39
Listen I'm a North guy and I'll call it honest and unbiased. Broughton does not have a better all around game than Smith. Broughton shots the 3 better and that's it. Smith is better of the dribble, more athletic, way better passer and the defense is not comparable. They are both studs, I looked at both kids stats and have watched both. Alot of Broughton's points came when Smith wasn't guarding him. But the major difference in the 2 is that Smith can get 12 points and totally dominate a game on the defensive end. If Broughton gets 12 well he just gets 12.
#40
Broughton had to take more shots to keep the team in the game, did not have the other scoring options like Clay? Opinions are like A$$ holes, everyone has one! I will go with the one who has five division one offers already as a sophomore! More to come is the rumor I am hearing from a very reliable source!
#41
Kid can play no doubt. Not saying he can't. And the offers speak for themselves. But you cannot tell me and be serious that he has a better all around game than Smith from Clay. Like I said I'm unbiased in this and a North Homer.
#42
Let's see, Broughton, the Sophomore, compared to Smith, the Junior? Smith has an extra year of playing behind his belt. Not saying he is not a good player, he is! He will do good at a Alice Llyod or Union. He does not have the potential Broughton has when Smith was a Sophomore. Don't think Smith last year is anywhere close to Broughton's Sophomore year? I hope the kid has a great Senior year, just don't think he will have the numbers of Broughton when it all said and done on an individual basis! I guess time will tell!
#43
JMO-Brad had enough talent to pull off Coach Cal's platoon play at NL.
At the end of NL's 2015 season, I feel bad for Collier and how his senior season has ended, probably missed out on lots of offers.
#44
AL or Union ....lol I'm not even gonna to acknowledge how ignorant u are anymore. It's obvious u are either on Norths staff or Broughton's daddy. Game recognizes game. And it's obvious u know nothing.
#45
Yeah we will see how many championships he has. Can't even make it to the region. You would think a high level D1 player could get his team to the region. You can score a million points but that still don't make you a winner.
#46
Way off the mark on both guesses, but keep trying Mr. Clay Co. Who has offered him anyway? By the way, one person does not make a good team, you have to have help and Clay Co works great together as a team, no doubt about it. If we are talking individual player then that is a different story altogether. I wish Clay good luck the remainder of the season. Broken Arrow you seemed to have strayed off the mark you started on Smith. You guys always make a conversation go to Clay somehow. Started off about North and you guys try to take over. You won't prove me wrong on head to head numbers! Go to their Freshman years also and compare those, you won't win!
#47
Those freshman year and soph. Year will not be comparable because at Clay there is a program built on winning by Marcum and you have to play behind good players. Broughton wouldn't have seen the floor as a freshman at Clay and wouldn't have had good numbers as a sophomore either. It's called sharing the ball. 5 players avg double figures last year. And its pretty close to that this year. We would rather win than showcase one kid and go home in the district.

Back to the original story. Sizemore is 60-65 in his coaching career at North. He did win the region before he ran half of his players off. If he's there next year good luck to him but if he is I look for another losing year unless he schedules a bunch of easy games.

Now here's a funny statistic..There have been 47 posts in this thread, that is titled "Jeff Shepherd taking over at North Laurel" ,and guess what? There have been only 3 posts made that pertain to Jeff Shepherd......lol
#49
Maybe Jeff could keep all the players from leaving. I don't know how you let kids go over and over and end up getting beat by them. You couldn't write a holiday script to match all the drama.:devilflam
#50
Jeff seems like a pretty smart guy. If he wanted to try his hand at coaching, I am sure he would do a good job.
#51
He does coach middle school at North, also has AAU team.
#52
Jeff would make a great addition to any team.He has done alot with the youth in the eastern Ky area such as camps, etc. As far as a head coach,I'm sure he would do a great job if he landed at North.
#53
North dropped the ball when they didn't hire Shawn Thacker years ago.
#54
They need to just hire a proven winner like Jeff Sheppard.
#55
North needs to have dedicated players with loyalty to their team and school. Not kids that want to leave when things get rough and someone wants them to come play somewhere else, and parents that lie about addresses for it to happen.

Just curious, does he coach somewhere as a HC now?
#57
No, no, no, floater middle school, 3~4 grade AAU. Just because he was a good basketball player, does not make a coach. Folks just stirring the pot!
#58
^
The only sizemore supporter left, Come on Bo, I mean Bro......
I wouldn't want him to be the coach either if he was promoting my nephew. Its a shame that people would rather lose just so one kid can be showcased.

I think this is common practice among many.

Jeff Sheppards big toe probably knows more about basketball than 90% of the head coaches in this state. He definitely is a testament to HARD WORK AND DEDICATION. Also is a big believer in TEAM CONCEPT. Something North Laurel obviously doesn't have by what I have read on this board. Regardless if they want him or not, I think it should be considered.
