Wow..What a game..What a 13th Regions.
#3
WOW, that Whitley co. District is going to be crazy.
#4
Congratulations Whitley, these kids play as hard as any team you will see all year, Overby does a good job with these kids.

Whitley controlled the tempo of the game and slowed it down against a VERY fast and athletic Boyle team. When it got down to under 2 minutes, Whitley made the plays and honestly outcoached Boyle. Whitley out hustled Boyle all night long.

The Boyle coach called three time outs back to back to back to try and freeze up Sasko but it really gave him time to catch his breath and relax and he stepped to the line for one and the bonus and made one and missed one on purpose with .1 on the clock.

Hustle wins games.

Boyle fouled with .1 seconds left in a tie game?
#7
Over the back on a shot with 1.2 on the clock. Well conceived play by Boyle just did not make it the the big for Boyle went over the back. Thus the free throws
#8
Anytime a game winning free throw is involved its a heck of a game. Gotta love 13th region ball.
#9
Congrats Whitley on a BIG win.
#10
Clay and Whitley are the two top teams in Region right now..
#11
Congrats to Whitley, they play good hard team ball...
#12
Foul shouldn't of been called. Crazy to end a game like that. Time had expired when the foul was called therefore I would say .1 seconds is about right.
#13
However, still a very good win for Whitley, Congrats.
#14
Boyle about the 4th or 5th best team in 12th. Nice win for Whitley Co.
#15
Boyle is in the top 3 in the 12th IMO. And whitley is around 5 in the 13th.

I would venture to guess the first TO was to freeze the shooter, the next two to piss off the refs. Confusednicker:

After the first Boyle time out, they put 1.6 on the clock. Boyle lobbed to the shooter who caught the ball in the air and never went tot he ground and shot the ball missing with Sasko getting the rebound and being fouled. The Clock started as soon as the shooter touched the clock and it does not take 1.6 seconds for the ball to come off the glass from about 8 feet away.

Yes there was time on the clock when the foul was called. And if it is a foul to go over the back in the first quarter then it is a foul with .1 on the clock. Actually there may have been more than .1 when the foul was called.

Nice win by Whitley over a top 10 team..

Whitley, Corbin, Williamsburg We are in for some real good BB. 13th usually chalk, not this year.

50th is a very tough district. Two good teams will be left out of the region

Seen a video of the foul call. VERY bogus call. There might have been SOME contact, but it looked like a flop to me and you don't make that call in a tie game with less than a second left.

Seen a video and was there. Very gutsy call. There was contact and to me you make that call at any point in the game. Rules don't change because the game is tied and there is less than a second. Contact was made at .4 sec which would have given him time to tip in or even catch and shot had the Whitley player not had inside position.

What team are you a supporter of? Would you be singing the same tune if the roles were reversed and Boyle won on that same call on the other side of the court? My take on this is completely unbiased. I don't think there was enough contact to merit that call at that point in the game. Yeah, if it was blatant and the kid from Boyle shoved the kid from Whitley and it was obvious, you call it. But to me it looked like there was minimal contact and the contact that did happen was incidental. Accompany that with a grammy-award winning acting performance, I would have swallowed my whistle and said, "Let's go to overtime."

I support Whitley. My opinion is simply the rules of the game shouldn't change because of situation and time. I do understand if you think it simply wasn't a foul but to indicate as many have that its not a foul in that situation doesn't hold water. A foul is a foul. If the rules are going to change in different situations then there should be rules to indicate that.
OH, and Im glad you weren't calling the game Smile

Bottom line if Whitley had not outplayed, out hustled, and out coached Boyle for the better part of the game then they would not have even been in that position.

On the last play if they had hustled down and got the rebound and put back I would bet you would not be talking about time on the clock.

Oh yeah I support Whitley.

I am absolutely shocked that you both are Whitley supporters considering your stance on this!!!

:Clap:What is there to be shocked about.?

I am shocked that you know so much about the game for somebody who was not there.:biggrin:

Seen a video of the play. Which is all I commented on. I said nothing about how the rest of the game panned out nor do I care.

According to Petrowski, Boyle did win the game against Corbin with a controversial play. It happens. It didn't look like a flop to me. The referee made the call before the buzzer. It shouldn't matter how much time was left. If he felt it was a foul, he should call it no matter what kind of game or how much time is left.

Not many people expected that.
