Congrats to Coach Robert Marcum on his 100th win tonight.
Congrats to the CC Tigers.

any stats?
#7
Injury bug hit Clay hard tonight. House injured knee. Coty possible broke ankle or tore ligaments. Farmer out during game with back spasms. Sam's MIA. Overall Clay looked horrible. Here the stats.

Wes wolfe. 17 pts, 8 reb.

Trey Farmer 16 pts, 6 reb.

Blake Smith 14 pts, 7 reb, 8 asst.

Ryan House 9 pts

Will Sexton 9 pts, 5 reb

Coty Arnold 7pts. Injured in 2nd quarter.

Zero intensity by Clay from the get go. Arnold somewhat of a spark and gets injured. I'm no doctor by any means but I sat 20 feet away and that kids ankle was dangling. Leslie was scrappy and hung for 3 quarters. Clay needs some time off. Three tough games in one week and back to backs is rough. Really like the way Sexton is coming along. Going to need him after Sams departure and now Arnold out.

One of those nights. Lc played hard all night. CC was running on empty. Good job by CC digging this one out. Congrats to coach Marcum on 100. Got to see some good friends from Leslie co.

Have to agree 100% UKCC. Came out flat and stay that way the whole game. I thought the refs called a horrible game on both sides as well. But I will say they was consistently bad all night. This was a trap game after the huge rivalry game with North last night. Clay was lucky to win considering all the adversity.
#11
Agree, same way I take it Truth. This had the potential to be a trap game. They need some rest then get ready for a tough Harlan County team on the road.

Just want to note that Clay's handling of the ball has to pick up. Free throws were better it seemed. However, even Smith struggled tonight and I know he's not a true point. If they have a significant weakness, I'm viewing that as the biggest. Can survive lack of size in mountains but have to handle ball better. Depth could also become a big factor.
#12
I think the depth will get them if anything does.

Looking more that way.

Sams quit? Is he the good baseball player? Did he leave last year, too?

Yes, this was the rumors in the gym last night, that he actually left the bench before the end of the North Laurel game.

SAMs is great kid and the ones that need to be Mia is his kin!

I'm not gonna get into all that. But I will say the CLAY needs him and all of the top 6-7 players in order to make a deep run in march. And what alot of these kids and parents need to realize is that all players have to sacrifice minutes and shots at some point in order for the team to be successful. Just look at last year's team. Mcdaniel gave up some of his shots to the 3 sophomores. Smith sacrificed his offensive game in order to give maxium effort on defense. House would have started on any other team in the region but didn't say a word about coming off of the bench. This is what playing with a common goal of winning will produce. I have no doubt that Clay's top 4 still has this frame of mind but 5 thru 10 must also have this in order for this team to be special.

Well said BA. Couldn't agree more. Also want to correct the Stat line. Wolfe had 9 reb. And Sexton had 10 reb. Arnold had 6 reb before injury. Got some wrong info last night

Clay will be fine with their debth. But they better get a great ball handler!!!!
#20
Hey truth I think there is a deal in the works right now for sometime in February that cordia will be coming to Manchester. I know they have been talking over the last week or so. I think they are talking of clay returning the game next year at lotts creek. That should be a good game at Manchester.

Clay's ball handling will be fine. Everyone keeps saying this. Says if you press we can't handle it, we'll we have handled it so far, and during the pre season against some good teams. Not worried about the ball handling.

Can't comment on this right now, but if it happens it should be a dandy.

Looks like Leslie didnt need that Big Asher boy that slows them down last night. Smith took it right to the eagles all night.

:dudecomeon: you need to worried about hazard.
#25
Kind of ironic that the JV kid that quit would probably get some varsity minutes now.
#26
Communication problems seems to be a mist in Tigerland. Get everyone on same page dudes!
Wait for it wait for it........
#27
64SUR you need to worry about yourself. I could care less about Hazard anymore. But I still wouldnt count out Coach Holland and Jon Walker. They will come up with something.
#28
Bulldogs4ever you can't get blood out of a turnip. Hazard will be lucky to be .500 this year. If hunter hardey gets 40pts they can play some teams close. But short of a career night hazard is the number 4 team in the district. Unless hazard brings in some big help next year there is no talent in the immediate future for hazard basketball. The future is bleak. It would not matter if they had Adolph Rupp.
#29
Let me say this. After you lose the Fab Four this year, Knott County will be pitiful. Rhodes team will have all their problems taken care of by seasons end, I promise you that. Cordia will dominate your district. Don't worry about Hazard. We always find a way to win.

Leslie played tough and was in the game several times but Clay was too much.Clay struggled a few times and got a little perplexed running sets a few times.Well coached team and Smith makes them go,in my perspective.Overall,Leslie has room to grow and get better.Good win Tigers.Always good to get a game like this under your belt.
