GJ Smith Showcase @ South Laurel High School Schedule Nov 29th 2014
#31
I missed the South game due to work but I talked to several fans that said they looked pretty good. How did the big kid do. I was really wanting to see how he fit in.
#32
Does anyone know the score between Rowan co vs Southwestern?
#33
I just got to watch the last 3 games Saturday, but I hear South looked good, I would have liked to seen them play but I was watching another region play. It was hard to judge Knox, HC shot the ball well and they are better than 7 in that region. Clay looked really good at times but not what I expected. People are talking bout North handling pressure I think Clay will have problems, alot of turnovers Saturday. I thought North looked good for 3 quarters but still have alot to get done. Broughton looked good, Sizemore looked good against their pressure and he will get better and better. He has handled it against Bryan Station and PCC, Good way to get broke in. Beverly is really good. I think PCC will have something for Knott in the 14th

Over all i thought perry central had the best team. Close second with clay and north, knox look lost without key player. On the bright side i see knox being a good team when bargers and adam return.
#36
perry
southwestern
henry clay
clay
madison central
north
south
rowan
knox
montgomery

thats the order I thought the teams I seen play was in but I had to keep the stupid clock 3 of those games and never had kept one before so I was more focused on not screwing that up lol
#37
I only seen 3 min of the first game so didnt put whitley or east jess in mine
#38
Playmaker pegged it about right. I do like CC's pieces tho. When Marcum figures out who goes where CC will be really good. Southwestern and HC looked pretty darn good.
#39
Clay will miss McDaniel. That was evident saturday, however just like north with the 8th grader, min. played will go along way
#40
^ I disagree somewhat, CC will be fine in the TO department, and we have plenty of offense from the guards. Our bigger problems are rebounding and guarding the post. Anyone would be crazy to say McDaniel won't be missed but with Allen on this team they would be very dangerous for anyone in the state, but both those two are gone and this years Tigers we be fine when all is said and done.
#41
cc should have plenty of offense from their guards. they are all guards. lol all jokes aside, smith did look really good. Farmer is alot slower than I thought he was but sure can shoot. Is he gonna keep the streak in his hair all year? Whats the meaning behind that? wolfe looked good and will only get better as he gets rested up from washing all those cars.
#42
offense from guards will be fine, I agree, but one has to handle the ball alot and that will take take away from their offense. if it doesnt and ur point guard is looking to score alot then sometimes it becomes a problem of others standing and watching. Dont get me wrong I think CC is really good. I really was never impressed with Allen so I dont think CC will miss him as much(at least the games I watched)

I'm not trying to point fingers here but the only time Clay had trouble with turnovers was when house was handling the point on the press. The minute Marcum put Smith there things changed. Clay shot 4 str8 layups and the press was then backed off and they went str8 man. And for anyone who says Clay will not miss a double double every night with 70 % of the shots being altered by Allen in the lane is crazy. He wasn't the most gifted but he played his role very well. Count hit the nail on the head. Rebounding and post defense is this teams Achilles. The scoring from Smith and Farmer will be there all year, I don't think there's a player in the state who can stop smith. And I don't know how in the world someone can day North looked good for 3 quarters. Shannon was playing 12 deep 2 mins into game. He was toying with them. For me j thought it was 1. Perry 2 clay 3 southwestern 4 Henry Clay 5 Madison central 6 south laurel 7 north..

Sorry Truth99 North will toy with south this year. Confusednicker:

If north doesn't get Collier cleared they may not toy with anyone.

I love how you CC people keeps talking you talk. December 12, 2014. That is all!

Clay looked good at times, it's early they will improve. South Laurel is going to be hit or miss, 2 players missing from being a really good team. North Laurel doesn't have that tuff guy game changing player, most of these teams have. Knox will improve a lot as it goes along.

I only saw 1st 2 games but I thought Whitley looked as good or better than SL.
Whitley will have trouble with SL size but SL will have trouble with Whitley speed.

Truth I take your a CC fan, PCC didnt go 12 deep that early, and if you know anything about Shannon and PCC he will go deep into his bench rotating 3 of the starters alot. Leaving Beverly and Tobler on the floor. I cant argue about the double double but it is hard for me to see that production from him. If CC leaves Smith at the point its a different ballgame but you CC people were the ones saying politics as usual and He wasnt playing point. I also believe if PCC can get Knott playing fast it could get very interesting in the 14th.

Sometimes nessesity and a will to win, which Marcum has, outweighs politics. The 13th and 14th will be interesting this season. CC gets started tonight with OBI...we are CC!!!

Serious question, when has a Clay County point guard had their offense been limited by playing the point? Most Tiger point guards have been scorers.

three I've watched perry all summer long and Shannon played players against north Saturday that hasn't seen the floor all summer. And there was multiple times in the 1st quarter and 2nd where Beverly and Tobler wasn't on the floor together. Perry could have won that game by 25 if they wanted. And yes I am a clay fan but I call the games like I see them. Whether it be good or bad for any team including clay. I will say this that will ruffle some feathers as well, the Sexton kid should be starting and house should be on bench. I have no ties to anyone on team I just call it like I see it. And north can say or believe whatever they want but u will not get out of this region without Collier plain and simple. And u may not with him.
#55
but alot of times their pgs have been true pg. One of the biggest traits for a PG is know when you have to score and when not to. Clay has been very fortunate to have really good pg. I to watched them alot also, some of the players that played sat didnt even play this summer. Regardless I dont care who comes out of 13th, I know a little about North and South because I work with the dad of a kid who plays at north and I go watch some 13th and 14th regions
#56
I'm not taking nothing away from north, but for anyone in that gym to even think north is on the same caliber as perry is delusional. North needs ball handlers. That big line up will not work. And to answer your question about clay no they do not have a true point guard but if need be Smith can handle the press. North may beat Clay on the 12th who knows. But I'll bet my house come march who wins this region baring any injuries. Like I said before I'll take clays top 3 everyday of the week and twice on Sunday to win this region.

Is that not a direct reflexion of the coach and staff.

Richie Farmer, Lloyd Colins, Shannon Hoskins, Stephen Asher...CC point guards of the past when CC dominated the 13th..All averaged 25 or more. I think CC will be OK if Smith is on point and looks to score first. :hilarious:
