kaylamoore Wrote:How tough can they be as contenders with only a 15-game schedule? And like someone mentioned above, how likely are people to schedule Cordia given all this drama?

I think that it will be hard for them to get in 15 games (nearly impossible against 14th Region schools) and I think a 15-game regular season is a killer unless they get the courts to rule in their favor and get some more games in.

I saw on Twitter that John Noble from over at Buckhorn tweeted "let em play" so he may schedule them.

The All-A has been mentioned on here and according to the KHSAA website they are already in the All-A.

I believe that, even if the ban is lifted, Cordia is going to have trouble scheduling games.

No doubt - I would imagine that pretty much every team has had a schedule set for a long time now.

I was hired two weeks late into the volleyball season and inherited a too-small schedule... I understand that struggle.

Hazard is looking for a game the first week of the season...

Heard from a great source that Hazard will be calling try to schedule them.. Wink

Save your games and play in the all A :Sad04:

Anyone wanna take bets on if Knott Central schedules them or not?

^^
Nope!

I think the kids shouldn't be the ones punished! These are adults making decisions like this every season at different schools. To punish high school kids is an absolute joke! Punish the principal and coaches that are making these decisions.

Why would they?

I believe The Lions will 100% play in the district and region if they make it. From what I understand Rod will fight it and I really can't blame him. He has openly recruited and its easy to see. Here is the problem I have: Trinity gets a stud from Mississippi this summer and he is eligible. No investigation, no probation, nothing. I also understand that Scott County got more than 3 transfers that are eligible. Let that happen in Eastern Ky and all hell will break loose. Mercer County gets Dow from Ballard and he is eligible. A host of other kids have transferred in this state and are eligible. Just look at the 3 kids Foreign exchange kids Hazard HAD. They had to leave and go to a private school to be eligible. Thats all fine but they go to June Buchanan School and play because they are considered private but are also a member of KHSAA. So some schools in the KHSAA play under different guidelines as everyone else does. That's not fair IMO.

Cordia will play this year in the postseason.

BUT I don't know that they will be as competitive with only 15 games under their belt.

I would advise Rod to sign up for every tourney that he can. They'll need that experience.

Why does the KHSAA even bother going through the motions???

Granny Bear Wrote:Why does the KHSAA even bother going through the motions???

That's a good question Granny!! I ask the same question all the time about why does KHSAA only target Eastern Ky schools when it comes to recruiting and basketball. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of recruiting goes on in EKY but its for sure not the only place in this state that it happens. If you read my previous post you will see that every word on that post is true. I've said this for years about KHSAA, they only enforce the rules on high caliber players and teams from Eastern Ky. For example: Perry Central had a kid that was playing varsity Bball a few years ago. He played 3/4 varsity games w/ PCC and was unhappy w/ playing time so he transfers. Kid was eligible in 2 weeks and parents didn't move. Actually, the kids parent was and still is a teacher in the Perry County school system. How does that happen? IMO, it happened only because the kid wasn't a high profile player. No other explanation that I could get from anyone else. Same thing I mentioned in my previous post about June Buchanan School. They are allowed to have foreign exchange kids w/ certain Visa's because they are a private school but the kids weren't eligible to play at Hazard High School and yet JBS is a member of the KHSAA. So that IMO, is an unfair playing field because they can openly recruit w/out any violations being brought against them because they are a private school. Nothing will be said about this until JBS starts WINNING. It seems like high profile players and teams winning games gets the attention of the KHSAA quicker than anything else.

I truly think the KHSAA has their hands full w/ Cordia and I believe Cordia will take this as far as it needs to go as long as Ms. W can continue to fund it. I truly believe Cordia will win this. I believe the days of KHSAA picking and choosing the schools they want to penalize is gonna come to an end. I don't think KHSAA is a wicked organization that is trying to keep kids from playing sports but I do think the rules need to be black and white. I know of 2 schools in the 14th region that are on probation because of kids that played at their schools 2/3 years ago but the probation just came down as of this year. I want to add that NO wrong doing was found but the circumstances surrounding the precious players seemed "FISHY". Really KHSAA. Gotta do better than that IMO!

The school should fire Rhodes and everyone who had any dealings with this and let the kids play. No reason to punish the kids for the bone head decisons of adults.

It should start with the top of the chain and go down! The superintendent(King), the athletic director(Trent), the principal(mullins), and the coach(Rhodes) should all be held responsible for this. They did the right thing with banning Coach Rhodes for 2 years, they should of also either fired or heavily fined the other 3 for allowing this to happen. The ban on post season and only 15 game season only hurts the kids, that is not what this is all about!! The kids only did what they were told to do by the adults involved and the athletic director is the one that filled out all the paper work to get them eligible so he is the one mainly responsible for letting all of this garbage happen. This hurting these Cordia kids that did nothing wrong, is ridiculous to not let them play. That is like a college coach getting in trouble for recruiting violations and the college going on a 3 yr probation with no tournaments, then the coach gets to go and coach somewhere else with no penalties, that is a crock of crap on the college's just like it is in this situation for the kids. Most of the kids in these situations are just trying to finish out high school playing ball and going to class and they are taking away some of the best memories they will have by doing what they did. The adults in these situations should be held responsible, PERIOD!!!!!!:devilflam:devilflam:devilflam:devilflam:devilflam

My question's to you ballstar, did Trinity and Scott Co. or any other school that got a transfer eligible, PAY to house, clothe, feed these transfer's. Did they pay their out of country tuition? Did they play any academic ineligible player? Did they do ANY of the 29 infractions that cordia was found guilty of?

Please everybody go read all the infractions and tell me another school that broke the rules that cordia has broken!!!

When the KIDS (or parents-guardians of these KIDS) accept free housing, food and grades they should also be held accountable!!! By the way these KIDS are eligible to go to another school or back home where they belong!!!

We all know that about 90% of the coaches in the state of Kentucky are breaking the rules but being caught is another thing. If your caught your caught. Own it!

Since Rod says he's trying to help kids, What kind of message is Rod trying to send to the young kids of Cordia? You can break the rules and get away with it. Rod and Alice are making themselves look BAD. You got caught get over it.

If you read my post I said that Cordia and EKY schools have done a lot of recruiting. No doubt in my mind Cordia has broken every rule imaginable. I'm not taking up for Cordia by any means but I will say that for anyone to think that these other schools aren't doing a lot of the same thing to get kids then your kidding yourselves IMO.

You are correct. Ky high school basketball has become a win now situation or risk losing your job. Coaches are doing all they can to hang on.

Louisville Trinity's Boosters have an unbelievable amount of money guys. They dont have to be affiliated with the school at all. They will give the recruits parents a job, free car, housing, and the list goes on and on. Just ask Jason Hatcher. So many people with ties to the school. They dont need someone running or working at Trinity to give them anything. Its done through outside sources. If I was rich, it would be no different than me bringing in a family or two and giving them free housing, a job, or whatever. I guess not to many people in this area have that kind of money. Im sure Scott County has many boosters as well that go the extra mile for the school.

I agree w/ you. I know the school and coach deserves to be disciplined. I'm not saying I don't agree w/ KHSAA. I do believe(this is my opinion) Cordia will beat the sanctions though. Just my opinion.
