It is the same.
I was just listing them off the top of my head.
Madison Souther will be tough with the Harris kid getting better and better.
If we end up getting Morristown West, there really tough, and Bell, Boyle, and Knox will all be extremely tough games as well.

The KHSAA schedule for HC does not show Madison Southern or Morristown on it. See my earlier post in this thread, #94, for their schedule.

Brother, you are confusing two different conversations here. We're talking about Whitley.

Read the earlier post before that to see he asked me what Whitleys schedule was.
We know what Harlan Countys schedule is, it had already been posted.

:rockon:That's what happens when I do not read the entire thread. Sorry everyone.
I'm hearing the boys are working real hard in the weight room. This could very well be another great year.

I heard the same thing. Good numbers and good dedication.
Just from what i've been hearing from some of the fans, players, and coaches, they are having some very high expectations out of this team this year. Of course they do every year, but this years team is going to be special. Everyone's going all in for this group this year. Bringing in Coach Luttrell, and from what i'm hearing the dedication in the weight room is awesome. Can't wait for the season to start already.......
When does spring ball start?
Are there any new kids coming in that didn't play last year that can make an impact?
Would love to see HDE do an article on the workouts of the bears off season soon. Either on his website or on here, just to give us an update of how things are going...Are they allowed to do that?? just curious. Either way would love to know how things are going especially with the motivation Coach Luttrell is bringing to those workouts. As far as i know, i haven't even seen an article about the hiring of coach luttrell, or i may have missed it. Maybe its just me and my missing football so bad, but i need news. hahahahahahaha..
I appreciate the request. I've written something the past few years during spring practice and so has John Middleton. It's been kind of crazy with basketball. I do see them working out at school in the afternoons with coaches Larkey and Canady and Cole. I think I saw coach Luttrell other day in the gym.

Yeah HDE i thought you would have been really busy with the basketball season/tournament going full blast right now, but just wanted to throw that out there, just in case you do get some time anytime soon. lol. I guess between UK recruiting, and the anticipation of this black bears team this year, i'm getting ahead of myself. Love the bears and wildcats football. lol
I watched a couple of Harlan County's games from last year online. From what I could see, Larkey would put his offense in the Power I basically every play and pound Middleton behind two large lead blockers. Middleton was an impressive downhill/physical runner.

Do you guys think Long will be able to adequately fill the role of that downhill/physical runner?

I am really looking forward to the Harlan Co./Belfry matchup. I must admit I am worried about matching the physicality of the Black Bears.
Zach Chitwood may be more likely to fill that role.
Long is very good at what he does. He was great as the Wildcat quarterback, too.
Cole Wilson is about 6-3 and is very good at getting outside on sweeps.
Carson Whitehead was one of those lead blockers but also became a running threat. He may be the best all-around football player in eastern Kentucky and should be an all-state linebacker as a four-year starter.
Doubt anyone will be asked to fill Middleton's role by themselves. I would expect Whitehead, Wilson, Long, Chitwood, Massey and Devin Daniels to all see plenty of carries. The thing that's being overlooked is how good this year's line should be. Harlan County returns four starters from a pretty good unit last year.
I agree the only one that really with that physical style would be Massey and Daniels but with all of them back there this team will be very interesting to watch.
Paytoplay, I think Belfry is a daggone physical team myself.

We were alot more diverse than the power I, you may have watched two games but we played 14. We ran many more sets thans the power I just ask Whitley county and bell county for example. Long does what he does and he rest of th team will be basically the same
Towards the end of the season last year, Whitehead became the workhorse for the power running game. Even running a blast up the middle, he would make it to the second level forcing the LB's and D-backs to make the tackle, i look for that trend to continue at the start of the season this year. I hope Bailey is putting in the work with Coach Creech for throwing the ball so they can spread the D and keep them guessing. It's gonna be hard to make it to BG this year without somewhat of a passing game. Long/Cole has the speed to get outside and make big gains running the ball as well. HC should be favored to win the district and even the region this year, I really think if they can keep the D guessing with just a little passing game then they can make it to BG. Can't wait for that first game, as i will be traveling to every game this year. lol..I'm really excited to see Belfry roll into that big new stadium, i think that will give us some idea how we fair against top talent in the mountains.
I know one thing, Harlan Co has the most unique last names over there. I've never heard of Chitwood, Whitehead, or Middleton anywhere around here... I mean Warren, Johnson, Hatfield, Robinson, we keep it pretty simple at Belfry. Lol.
As far as football goes... I think Harlan County should heavily be favored over Belfry. Early in the season Belfry's defense (which will be VERY young) will not have clicked yet. The offense should be fairly sharp, but going on the road early in the season usually doesn't fare well for us. Come week 10, Belfry will be fine and both teams will be glad they played this one.
I agree with Belfry0304 and we are not sandbagging. The Pirates graduated 3 ball carrier black holes in Messer, Ghormley, and Mullins at LB. bathe potential replacements in those spots are smaller, inexperienced, and unproven. Thankfully, Belfry will have some experience, talent, and depth along the d-line.
Can someone tell me when the Black and White game is this spring?
It's the last day of spring practice isn't it???
I am excited about the spring game. I would like to pack the stands for this game. Come on Harlan County spread the word and get out and watch this 2013 team!!!!! Support our young kids and coaches on our new field.
