No way Coach Cal comes up to see the kid IMO, lol. That'd be cool but that's why coach O came. I'm sure he's busier recruiting Wiggins, Randle or Gordon and prepping for UT. Would be pretty cool for sure though, hah.

Kentucky was already in Knoxville when this game was played

Quick question. How many of PCC players are actually from PERRY central?

Congrats Dores. Both teams got big games Tuesday

Cook didnt but napier and dexter did. Refs was not the reason why cordia lost tonight. Cordia play scare. Nobody can beat Pcc at PCc. But awy from PCC might be different. Johnson is difference from PCc any everybody else in the region.

It was like watching a movie in my head. Great.

In all honesty....
Cordia played hard the whole game and you have to give it to them for trying - but this is just a matchup nightmare for them.
I know we had a lot of talk about them getting out and pushing it in transition...
but c'mon guys. Perry has Beatty, Pray and Beverly. We've all seen Beatty and Pray blow by everyone on the football field - why would we think that they couldn't chase this kid down while he's dribbling?
Braxton BLEW by Owootoah every time up the court. If they wanted to call the game a little tighter he could have fouled him out in the first half. Perry played zone and even if the Cordia kids got into the paint there wasn't any room to get anything up without it being altered by one (or both) of the big men. Owootoah did get by the first level of the zone a few times and I think that he could have done work against Braxton man-to-man, but it is what it is.
Couldn't guard Johnson. Couldn't guard Cornett. Braxton and Beatty didn't play most of the second half.
I applaud the Lions for playing from start to finish and prayers go out to Robby Rios - Looks like a torn ACL.

Congrats Dores on a good game. The lions played hard tonight but just had their hands full w/ Cornett and Johnson. I like Ootowahs game, really nice player w/ great speed. As for all the ppl on here that said he would give it to Beverly think again. As Zaga said if the game was called tight he wouldn't have made it to the second half w/ out fouling out. He could not stay n front of Beverly tonight. Beverly had 10pts and 5 assist at halftime. Only played 3 mins the 2nd half b4 going out w/ cramps and not returning. Cornett and Johnson just completely scored anytime they wanted to.

E has to look for his shot more. Being to unselfish can be a bad thing. Perry played great, and Cordia could have played A LOT better, but Perry just took it to them. lol Times like these make me miss big hudson on our side.

I agree!!! If he continues improving he will b a special player. A couple of ppl on here can say all the negative things they want about him. They say he ain't big enough and that he is only good because of the 2 bigs, lol. I will say this: I know 1 scout that left that game tonight that fell in love w/ him and he is a D1 scout. Say what u will about Beverly but he always seems to get it done.

I agree man. Excited for the kid. He's going to be one hell of a player by the time he's done with high school.

Beverly didn't get it done against Clay Co the other night.

The teams in region are starting to seperate into ability groups.
1. Perry Central
2. Knott Central
3. Hazard
4. Breathitt
5. Cordia
The rest of the region
However I still think anyone can win on a given night.

Beverly could be a all-american by the time he is a senior!!!
02-16-2013, 10:31 AM
Lets be honest here Owootoah would have foul in the first half if the refs had called it a little more closer. He had three in the frtst half. But Beverly would have been in foul trouble to if they had call it real tight. Beverly was body him alot to and no foul call. Johnson makes this team hard to defend. He is a beast.

Perry central played really good tonight if they continue to play like this they will be representing the 14th region at rupp arena..... Justin Johnson is a fun player to watch by far the best big man in the mountains.... Beverly has 3 more seasons to play wow that's a lot of basketball for someone that already plays like a senior... I do feel that owootoah is the best point guard in the region he just dont have the quality of players that Beverly has but I think it's a compliment to a freshman when he is compared to a senior..... You can tell that Rhodes has the hook ups to get big colleges such as d1 recruits to watch a player play.... It be nice to see Rhodes also help other players in the mountains get recruited from d1 programs such as Beverly and justice..... They been a lot of players that has been able to compete at a high level here in the 13th 14th and 15th region and not been looked at...Rhodes can bring the recruits in and help these kids out.... Good luck to all teams In the district and region tournaments

Here are my unbiased thoughts on the game from last night and other ramblings...
Perry dominated every part of the game from the start. Cordia was overmatched inside and outside. Beverly outplayed Owootoah in this game and is a really nice player. Johnson and Cornett are way too much for Cordia inside. Cordia relied on the 3 early and didnt hit their shots so they got in a big hole early. Refs were not a factor in this game at all.
If Perry plays like this they will be hard to beat in post season but the Hazard game will be a tough one for them. Hazard is playing really well and are very well coached so they will be ready. I think this game will be a 4 point game either way.
The winner of that district will probably have to beat Knott to win the region and that will be a tough out for either team but either one is capable of doing so and Perry has proved that twice already but it will be harder for them on a neutral court (not saying the refs had anything to do with their wins but just that most teams naturally play better at home) and it will be hard to beat Knott 3 times. If Hazard plays Knott they matchup well with Knott in most areas and it would be a good game as well.
Like most basketball fans I am looking forward to the Perry-Hazard district matchup and even though I think all districts should have to seed this sure is exciting for the average fan who loves high school basketball and loves to see a game like this.
Good luck to all the teams involved.

PCC dominated this game. I agree with previous posters that when the commodores are hitting the 3 they will be a tough out for anyone. Cordia has improved but they lack the inside presence to hang with PCC. The dores have been playing outstanding basketball at home lets hope they can keep it going for one more game.
