Jim Tressel to Tennessee?
#1
Tennessee Hires Jim Tressel

After two years away from college football, Jim Tressel will make his return in SEC country. Tressel was dismissed from Ohio State after the infamous ‘tattoogate’ scandal, and served with the Indianapolis Colts.

There was much speculation as to weather Jim Tressel would ever coach again in the college ranks, but an reported deal in the neighborhood of nine million dollars a year was enough to pull him back into the coaching ranks.
And for Tennessee, which has, in recent years become nothing more than an SEC also ran, the prospect of bringing in a coach who did nothing at Youngstown State but win titles and nothing at Ohio State but play in BCS games was enough to offset any risks.
Tressel was last seen at the Horseshoe in Columbus celebrating the 2002 Ohio State National Championship team with the team and ans during the Ohio State/ Michigan game on Saturday.

Doesn't Jim tressel have a show cause penalty attached to him?

Yes, meaning Tennessee would have to basically send a report to the NCAA explaining why they need him as the head coach and how they intend to monitor him so that there are no other infractions committed. He would also have to sit out the first 5 games of the season as wel as any bowl game that they might get to.

Tressel has a pretty comfortable, high ranking job at Akron, seems like he just wants to sit back and ease to retirement. I think he's done coaching, like John Gruden and Tony Dungy

I don't think gruden is done. But the others I agree.

maybe NFL, but I don't see him coming back to coach in college, no matter what the amount is. He is making pretty good money at ESPN, not as much as a coach, but still good.

also, Gruden told ESPN that Tennessee hasn't made an offer: to coach Tennessee as part of a deal that includes becoming part-owner of the NFL's Cleveland Browns. http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...rek-dooley

Gruden said, "I'm just excited about 'Monday Night Football' and getting ready for the Giants and the Redskins," Gruden said. "I don't have time to get into all that stuff. I like what I'm doing, and I'm just trying to hang on to the job I have. Let's leave it at that."
