I know this team lost around 4-6 Seniors alongside of Allen Central I believe.
They return 2 or 3 of last years starters.
I know they have 1 new player from Wesley .
There lineup and rotation is going to be young this year.
How do you all feel about this team this year ?
Repeat district champs ? How will they do ?

Who is the player from Wesley?

Joseph Jamerson will be the hardest to replace. The other 4 seniors totaled 16.5 pts & 9.7 rebs as a group. With Joe you lose 11.4 pts & 9.3 boards not to mention his shot blocking ability and presence in the paint.
I would like to know about the player from Wesley. I do know we still have a lot of underclassmen returning who looked pretty good on JV last year & some putting in minutes on varsity. I liked the rotations used last year as we kept fresh legs on the floor most of the time & used most of the bench to do so. I believe this team after 1 year under new coaching staff will improve greatly. I think last years team was better as the year progressed & will only improve from that.
There is not really one key player for other teams to key on. Anyone could step up on any given night & be lights out. The opposing defense will have a tough time preparing. I think our press will be our biggest asset in creating turnovers for scoring opportunities.

The kid from Wesley is a guard. His name is Corey Dillion. He will be a good addition to the team. He is a good ball handler, likes to take it to the rim....

The player from Wesley is Corey Dillon. Went to Allen, i think he was apart of the team that got held back. He started with Prestonsburg in Summer ball.
Losing Joseph does hurt alot.
But this being a young team, this year will be a " getting it back together " season. These kids Junior year and Senior year will be great to watch.
The lineup will be very young. I think theyll go 8 deep this year.

Very good guard play last year. I thought the Jarrell kid played really well. I am sure they will bring some size back this year. Those kids played very strong as well. I look for them to have a very good season.

Corey is a great ball handler and will be a great addition to the team. I've not seen him play in a couple years now, but here he has a pretty good outside shot now.
I was speaking earlier about the loss in the middle of Jamerson. I tend to forget about Dalton Frasure who put in some good minutes as an 8th grader last year. A ton of upside for this kid. He is young, but plays with a high motor and that will help replace the inside game.
We are loaded at the guard position with several good ball handlers. Heck as im typing this i just remembered Trey Stapleton will be back. He is as tough as they come in the paint. Once again they are several JV players who looked good last year. I dont want to start nameing names because i dont want to leave anyone out, but this could be your surprise team come tourney time.

It is good to see some enthusiasm from the Blackcat Basketball nation however, until you guys convert from a football and baseball school I am afraid that basketball will continue to be a distant third. I would put you guys in the same boat as Pikeville, Lawrence County, Belfry, and some others that struggle to compete with the better basketball schools. I would say that Betsy Layne will continue to dominate Floyd County for many years to come. I also think that with so many players from P-burg playing all three sports something will have to be sacrificed eventually if you guys want to build a super strong Basketball program. Keep supporting the cause and remember, in the great state of Kentucky "Basketball Dreams" do come true!

They have the players to be a great team.
I think its Bryson Williams, trey stapleton, grant anderson, Jarred jarrel, Jarin Hall, Corey Dillon, Bj something and dalton freasure . Thats there rotation this coming season I believe.
Thats 2 Seniors 1 Junior 4 Sophmores and 1 Freshman. Im not sure if there big or not, I think Bj is around 6'3 or 6'4. Thats there biggest man, after that it drops off into guard spots.
@cougar Connection, thats true. They have one of the Football coaches coaching basketball since last year now, I think were about to see some improvements and some changes in there basketball program in the up coming seasons.

I can agree with you to an extent. BL beat us 3 times in regular season last year. One of those wins was a last second 3pt shot at P'burg. The bright spot is we did beat them when it counted in the District Tournament. P'burg is going in the right direction & will only continue to improve.

B.J. Holliday is who your referring to. Also dont forget you still have Grigsby who can contribute some valuable minutes also.

I dont think you have a quote unquote superstar on the team, but the talent does not drop off much when they go to the bench. The talent is pretty close to equal, so if someone was in foul trouble it wouldnt be detrimental to the team. Granted your starting five will be a little ahead, but again not a big drop off when you hit the bench. All these boys will produce when they hit the floor.
Looking forward to this season. Good luck to my Blackcats!!!

I know there usually is a Prestonsburg "football nation".

P-burg should be a better ball club next season.

I didnt mean there bench drops off if thats what you thought I meant Blackcat fan lol.
I meant it drops off from big men to guard spots.
The scary thing about this team is there so young, and they have a coach that will work them every practice.
So in the next 2-3 years , expect big things. I think they have potential to even go to State in 2-3 years!
And I would say Estill will be on it considering those 2 teams played a good one last year. I believe.
And yes there is a Blackcat Basketball Nation out there ! I believe it was created last year ahahaha!

No sir. I knew exactly what you where saying. I was just trying to give a further explanation to others about what you where saying. I also agree in a couple more years this team could be really dangerous. I think they surprised a lot of people last year. Which Joe comeing back to play helped tremendously he was a beast last year & will be missed. I also think they will be an even more surprise team this year. Looking forward to the season.

That was an awesome game. The Estill/Ryle game was a good game. If Ryle and Estill wasn't so far apart I would love for those 2 teams to play each other.
I do know that Hazard might not be on Estill's schedule. I know both Hatcher and Bentley wanted Estill and Perry to play each other, not sure if that got done or not, last I heard was that Perry's schedule was almost full and Estill wasn't on it

From what I have seen at camps and practice, the coaching staff has the head coach (James DeRossett) which is the Brother of the Head Football Coach (John DeRossett) and let me tell you, they know how to rule the roost when it comes to motivation and leadership. I heard they have a new Football assistant and he is going to assist in basketball also.
Should be a great season for both football and basketball...

I hope you are right but I don't see it happening. JC is by far the front runner for the next 2 years with Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Shelby Valley and Belfry also at the top next year. Pburg will be small and shorthanded. I think the potential starters will be competitive but the bench will be questionable.
