Report: Reds deal Woods to Cubs
#1
Update: The deal is official.

ESPN.com’s Keith Law reports that the Reds are sending left-hander Travis Wood, outfielder Dave Sappelt and infielder Ronald Torreyes to the Chicago Cubs for left-hander Sean Marshall.

Sappelt, 26, hit .313/.377/.458 for Triple-A Louisville this year before being promoted to the Reds where he hit .243/.289/.318. He was the Reds’ minor league hitter of the year in 2010. He hit a combined .342/.395/.507 while moving from high A to Triple-A.

Torreyes, 19, hit .356/.498/.457 at Dayton last year. He hit a combined .370 three levels in 2010, his first year as a pro. Torreyes is small — 5-foot-9, 140 pounds but he obviously can hit.

Getting Marshall is a good thing for the Reds but this is a lot to give up. Both Sappelt and Torreyes are under-sized and don’t have great tools, but Sappelt has already played in the big leagues and I think Torreyes will.

I hate this trade now...

The Cubs took us to the woodshed here...

Sappelt is MLB ready, Torreyes is a small 19 year old kid but he can hit.

I'm not sure that the Reds have made out on the "best" side in any dealing this off season
