Will Tate Cox Transfer?
PATS2011 Wrote:I have a feeling that there is going to be some big things in store for Knott Central in the near future......a near 'bright' future.
The citizens, parents, and fans have a unique chance to do something special in the near future. Knott County needs to rally behind their new coach and accept the kids that will be coming from JBS. I think that the current players at KCC are the type of kids that will come together and put the team ahead of individual accomplishments. I think that has been tried at other schools this year and not worked. Team goals and effort are the some of the attributes of successful teams. Some kids will be coming from JBS and I think that the two teams can merge and I think that if the right coach like CT gets the chance then they can come together and do big things. I hope that when the new kids come in that the parents of KCC kids will understand that your kid may have to share some minutes that he wouldnt have if no one came in. However you will probably have a good chance of your kid winning district and regional titles and possibly playing in Rupp. This is sorta like when schools consolidate and it takes a little time getting the kids to gel..But I think CT is the type of coach that can make these two gel and come together as a team and not individual players. The thing parents have to understand is that as much as you love your kid he is not going to play in the NBA.....It will work out and KNOTT will be one of the top 2 teams in the region and when was the last time that you had the possibility of being ranked in the top 25 in the state...
Excuse me. Knott Central has a coach. He has done very well in two years. Hazard and Knott will be 1 & 2 in the region next year.
Everyone at KCC will accept any child who wants to go to school there or if they want to play ball. And we sure want Tate, Brent, Garrison and whoever else wants to play.

Dont kill the messenger....Knott will have a new coach soon and if the other players dont transfer my opinion is you will have absolutely no chance of beating Hazard next year with what you have right now. Also you must remember that Hazard will be much better because they have all of their team returning plus have some more transfers coming in next year. You better load up or set back and watch Hazard go to Rupp for the next few years...
sassy Wrote:Did you ever stop to think that he may be a part of JBS' bb team or a parent and he may know what he is talking about. I agree that Hazard is a good team with alot of talent, but I don't think they are as good as JBS. And you can talk about how they are in the regionals and all that, JBS still has the most talented players. The coaching staff has to take the blame for some things, and I personally believe JBS would have won if not for the coaching. I have and always will be a KCC fan, but I will also choose a Knott County team over an out of county team. I think alot of JBS players got alot of crap thrown at them over the coaches decisions but it in the end you have to remember that these players are just kids and they are doing what the coaches tell them to do. I wish all the kids the best of luck, and I hope Hazard makes some noise at Rupp, I just wish it would have been one of Knott's teams.

I would have to disagree. What is so great and talented about this team? There big man moves like a grandma, Short can shoot a lick, Clark, will it's all about him, and Cox didn't do anything great. It's called OVERRATED!! They lost to Cordia, PCC, LCC and you are trying to tell me there a more talented team than Hazard?? Sorry, you could preach that all day and i would still disagree. Hazard has 8 or 9 players that can play and this Hazard team is overall more talented. Oh, by the way where is JBS's team right now? Oh yeah, this great team lost in the first round of the DISTRICT.Smile

You have proved again that you are a total ***** once again....The big man shot 65% from the field and only got a few shots a game. You are have either not watched Short or are just the biggest hater in the world but if you think Short cant shoot you are crazy. Alot of people never got to see what all he could do because the Stepps wouldnt allow him to stay in the game but for a few minutes. College scouts were amazed at his potential to play inside and his awesome shooting outside. Call Jeff Honeycutt at Cordia and ask him about Short going 8 for 8 against him not long ago and Jeff saying after the game that he had no way to stop Short but he was amazed that the coaches kept taking him out with him killing Cordia. Or ask you coach Al Holland who said before the first game at the WYMT radio interview that Short had the best shooting touch for a big man that he had seen in a long time in the 14t region. That was your own coach!!!!!! It really makes you look even worse when you talk about someone like Tate Cox and Tate will have an awesome season next year at his new school that will play team balland if he is not any good then tell Al Holland to quit calling his parents 5 times a week wanting him to come to Hazard....It is your opinion and that is ok and I will never try to change that but with 95% of the people in this area this JBS team will always be considered to be the team that had the most talent in 25 yeats and could have went a long way at Rupp but you are right JBS is home. That is part of life and you dont always win in everything you do. The JBS kids have alot of things to be proud of and will never forget like playing in Rupp and also the friendships that have made along the way. SOme people that are over JBS made some decisions that made a huge impact on their season and it was tough for these kids to understand at their age why someone would give up the team for the sake of an individual but things like that happen in life and it is a shame it had to happen to a really good bunch of people. JBS is basically done and I am sure that makes Mr Survivor happy but these kids that are affected by this will learn from this and grow as young men in this world that throws alot of curve balls at you. I have always told people on here that JBS would be done in a few years but it is happening before I thought. There has been alot of talk lately of possibly closing JBS down before next year and even though that would make MR Survivor and some like him happy that would really be bad for them because all of the JBS kids would become eligible to go any place they wanted. It has always killed people like Survivor that JBS would have the nerve as a small school to take away the glory of the powers to be in the 14th....You will have to find another school to hate and maybe it will be Knott County because they are not allowed to win the region and beat the big powers are they? I am sure you will be on here next year talking about how KCC is overrated and talking about all of their players....

Great post! I agree totally. Survivor, no one on here said anything about Hazard not having talent, Hazard is loaded. But JBS is a much smaller school and they are the most talented around here. Some of their players are 7,8 and 9th graders, granted they don't play much, but thats where your talent comes in when you have a group of kids playing the whole game and not giving up. They keep on playing their hearts out because they want to win and they don't have many coming off the bench to give them a rest. These other teams that also have talent coming off the bench and giving their players a rest have it alot easier. They can have the rest period they need without having to worry about the score changing much. JBS doesn't have that benefit, because the starting 5 are the most talented on the team. So again I say this: They are children playing a game they love and listening to what their coaches tell them, don't get on here and blame these kids for what the coaching staff does. And just because they are not repeat regional winners don't mean a thing, Hazard had one of the best players last year to go along with this years same team and they did'nt win region last year, and your bragging about what a great team Hazard is. Together coaches, players, refs and a little luck decide the out come of a ball game. And if you don't believe that then your just stupid, if that wasn't the case then the best team would win every game. Anyway this thread is about Tate and so I say to Tate and anyone else who wants to transfer to KCC, come on over we would love to have you.

Yeah, you're right, they are the greatest in 25 years. I just thought you should at least be able to win your district if you were considered one of the best in 25 years. My bad. sorry UK96 once again you're right.
Now they have been good the last 2 years but no way the last 25 years. Have they even had a basketball team for 25 years?

You are missing the whole point . I have never meant to imply that they are the best team in along time because this year they were not even a good team. The problem is that they were not a team at all but simply played as a group of individuals. The whole message that I have tried to get across is that they had the individual talent to be a very special team and the powers to be over there decided to try to focus on an individual and it destroyed the team. I guess I will try this again....This years JBS team had a team that had a tremendous amount of individual talent including Garrison Collins who is 6'10" which happens around here about as often as we have a hurricane around here. He has a really good chance of playing D1 basketball but was never even used on this years team..The second example is Trey SHort who is 6'6" and who shot 61 percent from the field and usually got about 6 shots a game and will be playing at Transy next year where hopefully he will get the opportunity to play and not get taken out every time he gets hot. Third you have Tate Cox who most people consider to be one of the better players in the region and has really never got to show what he can do because he got just a little more shots a game that Collins and Short. Then you have the Stepp brothers whot both will play college ball at some level that would have been really good high school players if their family would have let them make their own way rather than controlling the situation by placing his uncles in as coaches. The thing about Clark is that he is not as good as they advertise but is better than most of his critics give him credit for. All 5 of these players will play college basketball and Mr Survivor tell me how many high school teams that you have ever seen that 5 starters have played college ball in the last 25 years. That is what I am talking about ...It is scary how good this team could have been under someone like Al Holland...I am not saying that this is the best team around in the last 25 years but if they would have had neutral coaches they could have been because of the talent they had.....
With that being said the JBS program as you know it is gone and you can thank the selfishness of some of the people on campus at ALC for that. But anyway Mr Survivor thanks for finally admitting that I am right in front of all these people.....

If they add the player such as Collins,Cox, and Hall, they'll be the 2nd best team in the region.Without the tranfer players. LCC is the 2nd best team in the region.

This thread will end in a day or so when Tate enrolls so the question will be answered but it is amazing that this thread will have close to 5000 views by the time it ends. I think Tate was going to enroll tomorrow but I think Knott is out of school or something.
