I believe this region will come down to Belfry or Shelby Valley. I think they are the favorites. But it really is close. If Brad Lowe is back then Pike Central has as good a chance as anybody.

Coach brad lowe is already back

I have found that over a period of time that if teams do not have dominant type players like the Todd May, J.R. VanHoose type they are not locks to win it all. I haven't seen that type of player this season in the 15th. Shelby Valley has the best record as of now and would be difficult for teams to beat but they can be beat. Sheldon Clark even though they may not have an outstanding record is still dangerous and they did prove that in the All A. Belfry,ER,PC,P-Burg,SF,BL,JC, and Paintsville if they get healthy all have legitimate shots at winning the title. This is a proven fact and not just talk as the All A Tournament showed. If a team starts playing well over the next week or two the records from December and January may as well be thrown out. It could be a Renaissance for many of the teams. That is what is so special about the 15th Region Tournament and the way the fans turn out to watch it they seem to agree. I hope that South Floyd continues to remember and not forget that Magoffin County beat them earlier in the year and that is exactly what the Hornets did without any help from anyone, beat them. I also hope they remember that a couple of weeks ago they won the All A without the help of anyone. They can be beaten by anyone or they can beat anyone. With that in mind it should show that each and every night a team had best bring it's A game or the later days of March become quite long.
good post...I agree with it all. Anything can happen during tourney time. I didnt expect for Pburg to beat valley last week. That kinda lead the way for pc to the championship game. I hope we can get back there this year though. But valley is going to be hard to beat if they play as good as they can. They have alot of talent but so does other teams. Good luck to all of them.

How dare I say that Prestonsburg could beat Pike Central with Brad Lowe, shame on me.

Quote:Riddle has had a few decent games but nothing to brag about. Friend on the otherhand has done nothing special. Where is their play this year? I just don't see them making a regional sweep this year. They have no 'true' point guard and will hurt them in tournament play.
thank you bb for that post, you cant say it enough. bently is a good 2guard but he cant run the point. the games that i have watched, the teams that has given sv fits bring the heat. pressure, pressure, pressure, is the key to beating valley. teams that come to mind are belfry, and er on the second go around. thats just my oppinion.

Honestly I believe all 8 teams that make the tourney this year have a legit shot of going to Rupp. The way the region has panned out this year no on team is absolutely dominant above the other from about 1-8. Barring an upset in the district I can see about 8 teams with an equal shot of winning. Should be an impressive tourney.

If Brad Lowe is already back and at 100%..then Pike Central can beat anyone in the region on any given night. He has the potential to carry the team on his scoring. I watched Pike Central play Shelby Valley in the Coke Classic...and lowe scored at will. He hit like 3 treys in a roll at the end to tie the game. Then one of pike central's players fouled Bently at the end for some reason..he of course made his foul shots. And after hitting 2 or 3 3's in a roll..Lowe didn't even take the last shot for whatever reason. But I believe if not for that foul that PC had Valley that night.

I think the 15th region is a toss up between pburg valley and johnson central
02-18-2005, 12:21 PM
Yeah I agree with ba11er. I don't think having Brad Lowe will make a difference with Pike Central. Pike Central lost it's team when Lyons graduated last year.
With P-burg defeating ER last night by 17 points, I don't think you can consider ER a legitimate shot for a repeat. They are just too down this year. Valley will be borderline. I've not really heard much about them this past week so I dont know how they are doing. I guess it just depends on if the selfish team, or the skilled team shows up during the tournament. Prestonsburg is a legitimate shot I believe. Beating BL, AC, SF, and ER all in about a weeks time is pretty impressive. I think they play Belfry sometime. That should be a good game just to see who is for real. P-burg hung in tight with a very good Breathitt Co team and only lost by 8 or 9. Johnson Central would be on here also just because they have been pretty good this year. If McCarty can get it together, and they get Music involved then they will be tough to handle. Belfry is also good. I'm not sure what their record is, but I know they have one of the best in the region. So watch out for these 4 teams come tournament time.

4. ER

2. JC
3. Belfry
4. ER

BP,
How can you have ER in at number 4 after Prestonsburg just beat them Thursday night by 17? I mean I know it's your own opinion and what happened during the regular season is thrown out the window, but still ER really doesn't have anyone. Your other 3 look good though.

I don't see ER making it out of the first round of the regional tourney, maybe not even the district, I know I have dogged SF alot, but how they beat SF is beyond me. There is a favorite in the 15th but a very vulnerable one, how are the 15th's rankings looking right now?

If Pc makes it out of the 1st round u better watch out b/c facts are facts and the Hawks have NEVER lost in a Semi-Final game
