There is still another week until the final rankings come out so I would expect that the top two teams (whose seasons are completed) to politic a little. No one can jump ahead of them b/c they can't lose. But arguments can still be made as to which one deserves to be no. 1, especially since I don't think that they publicize the actual vote count and it is hard to know how close they are to each other in the voting. Would be very surprised though if the final standings actually change and a fictional no. 2 in the USA ain't too shabby.

I know where you are coming from. It's a fair argument. I get what everyone's argument is, and it is fair. It's just like Basketball, can teams like Holmes, Elliott Co., Mason County, all teams over the last few years who are very, very good HS Basketball teams, but could they truly competete with the Oak Hill Academy's of HS Basketball, no. These National rankings do not take into account the difference between a true HS and a Prep School. These teams in the HS rankings are not typical HS's, so it is not a fair comparison. That to me is why I take even more pride in this mythical recognition. This is a HS that we all know, and know that it is a legit HS, getting recognition with programs that left the HS ranks many years ago. So even though we all understand that these rankings are all subjective, it is the kind of recognition that our state does not normally get. So thank you to coach Mueller and his players for doing their job and getting us this statewide exposure.

Kentucky is slowly becoming more and more FOOTBALL friendly!!! I love it. We just have to stay focused and make sure that we keep supporting our MS and HS programs. Also, our college programs have helped improve the football support. We should definitely keep supporting all of our college programs. I have been a long time Louisville Football (I know, I know) fan, but I always cheer for UK when they play as well. I cheer for Morehead (graduated from there), EKU, WKU, G-Town... etc. The more success, the better... in my opinion.

Highlands has the tradition, the work ethic, the schedule, and the things that they do in the "off season", even though there is no off season for them, to really claim to be the best in the nation. Does anyone have any statistics to help Bluebirds overtake the #1 team?

Congrats to the Bluebirds!! Not only have you brought pride to the state of Kentucky but by placing 2nd in the nation i think it will give all high school football athletes in the state more recognition and credibility when it comes to recruiting!!
