Corbin/Mayfield series to end

chs crazy Wrote:Starting to understand why some of us are a little guarded now?

I think we'd (Boyle) put a running clock on Mayfield but I just don't feel the same about Corbin. I think we'd be the favorite in an early matchup vs the Hounds but I would be very leery of the game.

Am I missing something?

I dont think u would put a running clock on Mayfield FoSo get your coach toi find game like we did with Corbin weve surprised a lot of so called big time programs.

I have to ask am I missing something here? I dont see why you think you would put a clock on Mayfield but I would sure like to understand your logic in it. Mayfield returns a lot from a pretty good team last year. As for Corbin this year, it would seem logical that Mayfield would be the favorite given what we return vs what the Hounds return

Great programs will not put running clock on other great programs!!!!!!

YES....your brain

Folks I have a news flash for everyone. Corbin will be better than last season. While the senior class was a great bunch of guys and players, the junior class was the strength of the team. Offense, defense, and special teams will all improve. Some by a pretty good margin. This will be the best team Haddix has had.

Running clock....let's see here.....

You played Corbin in a tight game last year. We had nearly 500 yards of offense and scored at will. Last year Danville beat us on their field by a last second 45 yard FG and they beat the crap out of you.

We are going to be better this year with several D1 players on our team.

I'd say something like:

Boyle Co - 56
Mayfield - 6

😜

Next year we got Bowling Green, Highlands, CAL and DeSales. How's that?

Our coach has always and will always play anyone....it's hard to find games around here.

We return around 25-26 seniors it’ll be another barn burner like I said don’t leave your Marlboro’s at home.

Was Mayfield the favorite last year too?

The defense better improve because it was horrible in the championship game.

Not "improve" so much as get faster. 😬

get faster is a definition of improve. Confusedilly:

They aren't the only ones "improving" in the offseason.

True. Except for Danville.

The Hounds return 21 Seniors and key underclassmen.

Everyone assumes since we lost our QB were gonna be down. But they miss the simple fact we return more than we have in a long time haha

You got that right. The Redhounds didn't have the speed to keep up with the Boyle County receivers and the Rebels O-line was fundamentally sound on their blocks and put on a clinic. The Redhounds couldn't figure out how to slow them down.

The Hounds will be tough with Estep at QB, and the addition of a few Colonels.

They should be better, but Chuck Smith might make them look worse Confusednicker:

This years Rebels team will be better.

The last five years in a row the team that has won the 3a state championship is the one that had the best offensive line in 3a. I think this year will be more of the same. Time will tell who has the best offensive line in 3a.

The OL is very important...however, Boyle has so much talent at the skill positions, and can beat you so many different ways, that the line needs to be serviceable but not "the best in 3A". Not many teams are as versatile and effective that literally ANY style offense can be run at an extremely high level.

At the beginning of the season last year our OL was not very good. In fact, many were worried about their potential. By the end of the season they were great. No way will we have a line that good again this season, but we don't have to.

Not everything is directed at Boyle County, and you don’t have to butt in on every thread that Corbin is a part of, but since you cannot seem to keep your nose in you’re own business.

I have seen teams with MORE skill than Boyle will have get beat because they weren’t good enough up front. I think Boyle will be a good as anyone next year, and they could very well repeat as state champions, but they’ll have to block people to do it. No matter how good their skill guys are. If there are defensive linemen in your backfield all night you lose. Period.

Also, how many graduated off of that front 7 or 8 defensively for Boyle last season? You can toot the Skill guys horn all you want, but 4 people can’t beat 11, regardless of how good they are or how many scholarships offers they have.

I fully expect to see Boyle vs Corbin in the semi’s this season (although I’d rather see Corbin and belfry because it’s become somewhat of a rivalry and I just like the people from there a little more) if they both take care of business, and I think it will be the game that decides the state champion. However, both teams have a lot of work to do between now and then.

Wow...you resort to being a jerk again.

Conversations progress and change direction in the course of a thread and I apologize I offended you by posting in your glorious Corbin thread.

You are the one that shared your infinite wisdom and prediction about OL and the complete previous 5 year history of 3A. All I was saying is having versatility in your offense and way above average skill players (which you saw firsthand) can compensate for a weakness in the OL....which is true without question. I guess we'll just have to see for ourselves next season just how good both teams are. We both do have a lot of work to do in the meantime and I can assure you that it'll get done on our end.

Looking forward to the playoffs more than you could imagine. 😎

Now I'll go post in a Boyle Co thread that of course you never show up in. 🙄

Don’t take things out of context, I’m pretty sure your kid plays a skill position, seems like you’ve posted it somewhere on here. However nobody’s saying the skill kids didn’t play a phenomenal game just that those bigs were getting to the second and third level blocking. When I seen blocking schemes where the center was taking out our LB I knew it was gonna be a tough game. If it hadn’t been for that it would have been a totally different game.

I can assure you that the OL our coaching staff puts in place will be able to function well enough to enable our skill kids to do what they do.

Boyle over the years has always been able to play well on the LOS (pull blockers, etc) and run the ball effectively...even when undersized. It just so happens now they could spread the field with 5 WR too. Which is what my point was earlier.

chs crazy, you and I are cool. 😉
