WOW what a game.. Could have went either way. Congrads to both teams on a good game.

I knew this one would be close! Sounds like a great game!

a technical decided the game.:please:

Back in black explain if you dont care. I wasnt at the game but I know some people that was and they told me the final score, but explain the "T" if you dont care.

dorton was up by 2 when virgie stole the ball and made a lay up then they was tied. then a dorton player got frustrated and called a time out. they called a technical because they was out of timeouts. the virgie player went to the line and sank both and virgie won by 2.

Congrats Virgie

I am almost certain that Virgie went up by 2 with the layup, and then they called the T. Mason then made one. Hopefully wildcat5 will log on and give some stats and clear it up for us.
I was very impressed with both teams. Both teams have come leaps and bounds. I thought VMS played sloppy at times and Turnovers hurt them.

Dalton Richardson's layup put Virgie up by two with 1.3 seconds left Jesse Lucas called timeout and Dorton didn't have any. Technical Foul was called and Mason Bowling went to the line and made one of two. Congratulations to both teams. Both played extremely hard. IMO, Virgie did not play well offensively. Never got in rythm and at times struggled to score. Dorton played great defense, not taking anything away from them, but that was one of Virgie's poorest offensive showings.
Long road ahead though. I predict this will be the closest these two teams will play the rest of the year. Just my opinion.

That is right Hootie
I just was wanting to say that tonights officiating was the most horrible, pathetic, repulsive, dreadful, upsetting, shocking, staggering, unspeakable, horrendous, appaling, unpleasant, disgusting officiating I have ever witnessed!
It was like dorton played at Virgie tonight.
Without a doubt, the caudill kid was the best on the floor tonight.
It could not get any worse, seriously.

Actually Zach Cantrell called the timeout. He just lost his head. He knew we didn't have any, but just reacted after the score. It had no bearing on the game at all because we weren't going to score from the other baseline in that amount of time. I thought Zach played a heck of a game defensively.
Both teams played hard. Virgie was sloppy offensively, as were we. I thought Owen stepped up big several times during the game, and Victor hit a huge 3 to put us up by 1 point late. Turnovers and Virgie's defense under 1 minute cost us the game.

The referees didn't make us turn it over a couple of times under 1 minute with the lead though.

Coach, I have said this all year, Dorton is a VERY DANGEROUS TEAM. I told everyone all week this would be too close to call. Again, this County is up for grabs, there are 5 or 6 teams that can beat each other at anytime, throw rankings out the window!

Are you kidding??? Seriously. This game was not at all lopsided. Don't know what game you were watching but the calls were consistent both ways, whether they were bad or good, it was consistent. Sounds like sour grapes to me. There is always one in every crowd.

They did when that one called a walk when your player was on his knees. How about Belter getting beat to death all night and not even going to the foul line once.
Coach, I agree with what you said about the last minute, but I know of 8-10 calls that were absolutely horrible.

I agree. Win or lose, I was going to be proud of my team either way. They really showed a lot of heart tonight. We made some bad mistakes when it came down to the end, but they'll learn from it. We would've loved to have won, but we can take a lot of positive away from this loss. We'll be ready again the next time we meet and hopefully we'll put ourselves in a position to win again.

Yes, that was a bad call (even Doe Doe agreed), but referees miss a lot. We played through that and still had a chance to win.

you are right hootie
jesse lucas called a timeout not knowing that they didn't have any left
they got a techinal and Mason Bowling went to the line and made 1 of 2.which put the
ahead by 1 then Dalton Richardson made a lay-up to beat them by 3 points.
Virgie didn't play their best i don't think but ya know someone had to lose
and in the end i guess Virgie wanted it more. Cause "It's not how GOOD you are it's how BAD you want it" .
But the Virgie boys did good and so did Dorton's

Coach, do you think Doe Doe will get some of those home referees that he always has when you play at Virgie? Did you even know either referee? I do think that they thought they were being paid by Virgie. Everyone knows that if there is a call that could go either way most of the time it goes to the home team. Can you tell me of one call that you think should have went there way but went yours? And your big guy really took a beaten tonight . He was hit on almost every shot and pushed in the back the whole night. I bet his back is so sore.....

Officiating has changed, the game is a lot rougher..........A LOT.

I don't really want to get into much talk about referees. This game was too good a game to let that ruin it. I did not know either of those guys. Actually that is the first time I have ever seen either of them. Doe Doe has started getting his referees assigned this season, so I know we'll have unbiased referees down there also. I'm not one to blame losing a game on referees. I think it makes people look weak. When teams lose, people always look to the referees first when sometimes they should look at their own players and the mistakes they made. We are used to Belter not getting any calls. Where he is so big, I think most referees have the idea that he doesn't need any help because he already has an advantage. It isn't fair, but he doesn't complain. He just has to get stronger and fight through it.

The only call that went dortons way was in the4th quarter, when the bal went out of bounds on virgies baseline on dorton and they gave it back to dorton

First of all, I don't live in the either the Dorton/Virgie area. I just came to watch the two teams play. There was alot of missed calls by the Ref's tonight. Coach, I don't think that Doe Doe is having his games assigned to him at all but if that is what you want to believe then your maybe getting the wool pulled over your eyes. Dorton got the crap beat out of them and no fouls were called at least 6-8 fouls should have been called sending Cody to the foul line but that didn't happen. Coach, one question I have... Why would you let another coach get your officials,,, 1. The host school supplies the officials, not the visitors. 2. The host school provides payment, not the visitors. 3. I have never heard of grade schools being assigned, unless it is county, district, or regionals playoffs. I mean this comment in no foul way toward any coaches, players, or fans...:HitWall:

I didn't let Doe Doe get my referees. I'm not sure who told you that. I am a fair guy and I expect others to be the same. If they are not, that's them. Actually Doe Doe is having his home officials assigned by Brent Rose this season as am I. The shorter/younger guy is one of the ones who will be assigned to Dorton/Virgie games from my understanding.
