UNABLE TO WIN/ LOSING PLAYERS/ RUNNING OFF MORE/ BAD DECSION/ WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? THIS IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THE PLAYERS. WE LOOK LIKE THE MOVIE HOOSIERS ONLY WE NEVER START WINNING AND THE COACH WELL WHAT CAN I SAY. WE NEED HELP. MAYBE WE SHOULD CANCEL THE REST OF THE SEASON. WHERE IS OUR PIRATE PRIDE.

Tough it out and don't rehire him. It's sad for this year's seniors, but what can you do mid-season? Fire him now and let an assistant finish? I don't know.

You know, a few years ago he was a decent coach and pretty good guy. It's sad to hear this.

I'm sorry; it sounds like a really frustrating situation - especially so if you are a player or the parent of a player. Hang in there.

I know you are frustrated as are the ballplayers, but I saw the coach ask the best point guard on the team if he was ready to come back in and the best point guard on the team said no. I think maybe he was hurt. The kids are playing their best and they need our support and bashing the coach helps no one. Keep your heads up Pirates.

The negitive attitude that you display on here time and time again is no different than the attitudes displayed by those that just up and quit on their team and teammates. Do this team a favor and quit posting your negitive veiws about their coach. Walk a mile in his shoes . So until then keep your negitivity to yourself.:dontthink

Sounds like you should quit crying and blaming other people, I've heard from people in the 14th that Powell has a history of bad discipline and lack of heart. If you want to make a difference, suck it up and play, its always easier to deflect blame and have mom a dad tell you should be in the NBA!

Agree!! It doesn't matter who is playing or what their averages are they should always play as a team. It seemed to me tonight that Matt Pelfrey was the best at point. On any given night it may be somebody else. WHO CARES!! Teamwork will win games. A good attitude goes a long way!!!!

powell will play hard with the players that want to play and succeed..they are young and will get better by playing more and more basketball..morgan reed is a great shooter and has the size to be good on down the road

powell needs leadership they have one senior and he is a first year so... hopefully he or someone steps up they need it... good luck pirates..

It sounds like there is a lot going on that only those at Powell County could really know about. I hope it gets worked out.

People you have to have talent to win. Look at this team, they are basically a JV team trying to play against varsity teams. The problem came a couple of years ago when they kept all those seniors and no young kids got any playing time. No coach could win with this bunch. Coach Hall can get the job done but its going to take time. Give him 4 years and if the situation is no better then fire him, but half a year thats a joke.

Nothing happens overnight. Powell needs to toughen up and quit blaming the coach. His style may work, but it could take a year or two to get everyone on board. Trust me, having a different coach every year is not what Powell wants.

Everyone likes to win but sometimes it just doesn't happen. If your child is a player, support him and his team. Let the kids know that you will support them no matter if they win or lose. To the seniors: college coaches will still be watching, so get out there and play your hardest and give it 110%. Keep your heads up and your pride in your school, show that you all still are good sportmen and have fun. It is not all about winning, but about bonding with your coach, teammates, building character and leadership and discipiline. Remember you have to take the good with the bad and right now its just a little bad. Hang in there and good luck.

How about trying to get your team and coaches closer instead of driving a wedge between them? Some ways of getting something done by complaining and trying to drive them apart will only hurt. Be positive instead of negative so much. That might help a little.

I recommend having a town meeting at the church at Stanton. Let the people vote. Yes means he stays. No means he goes. Before the meeting adjourns an orphan will come out of the cornfields of rural Powell County and agree to play, but only if the coach stays.

Hall is not to blame. He didn't exactly inherit a ton of talent when he arrived at Powell County. That's due to the fact that the previous coach concentrated on working with 13 seniors and forgetting about what was coming up for the future. And then 2 of the better players he had at his disposal when he came there took their cry-baby attitudes and quit/transferred after they were unhappy with their playing time in a pre-season scrimmage game. Good Lord!! Can you image that? A pre season scrimmage! All I can say about that is both of them are now someone else's problem to give them the sugar tit.

Hall will be OK. He simply inherited a bad problem. Don't make him the scapegoat.

I for one do not understand Mr. Halls logic, when playing KCC by far the best team they have played so far, he sat the teams best big man (ARVIN) on the bench the entire time, while KCC scored at will all nite.

Arvin has to much talent to set on the bench, yea he got a technical the last game, WHO CARES, I'd be pretty mad if I was getting beat by 50 by Bath County, to.

But geesh you can't set the best big man on the team out the whole game just b/c he got a technical in a previous game. Thats not a good tactic.
